You got poisoned but didn't get the cannibal's brain disease. Brain disease consists of a weird laugh every 10 minutes or so and twitching every few seconds in a way that is semi disruptive to aim but not much else.

Well, the first time i encountered a ground swimmer me and my squad emptied around 200rds of ammo into him at close range to little effect that we could see. I thought i saw blood at one point but it could have been mine. He was enough of a distraction that all his friends ran in after him and wiped us while we were reloading. The second time was more interesting, i was in cherno fighting a guy. He had a P1 and a Blaze, i was a fresh spawn. I didn't have much to lose aside from a can or two so i had decided to try boxing him for his stuff. After losing the first round or two he started to run out of Cherno along the coast to the east until he arrived at a group of rocks that stick out from the shore. He climbed the rocks and jumped down to a lower rock about waist deep, then went from there into the water and swam back toward the shore. He kept right on swimming up onto the ground and started to come after me, taking pot shots at me with first the P1 and then the Blaze. I made fun of him for being such a poor player for a good 20 minutes as he missed every shot and followed me almost all the way through Cherno. Even had a go at getting close enough to take his pulse so i could mock him further, maybe even find out his clan name so i could mock them too but to no avail. Is there a known strategy for dealing with these twerps aside from just leave them behind you and go about your business elsewhere? It was fun to make fun of him and all, but i'd love to kill / ID him. Also i've heard on the grape vine that without hacks they cannot fire weapons while in the ground, is this correct? He was firing at me plenty.

+1 for video :D -1 for unsportmanly ending.. tut tut. Kiddin, beanz for you anyway. -
Hopefully once player speed is properly reduced running zig zags away from a stick up won't be such a valid option :P Cool vid

In steam games, F12 is the screenshot button. Then you can just post links to the screenshots in your online steam gallery. Good find :)

buy a better pc and bla bla bla... Don't call a game trash because your hardware won't run it. Games not running when you bought them was WAAAAY more common back in the time of Duke Nukem actually ;) What are your PC specs? Does it meet the minimum requirements?

Actually, if your connection lagged right as someone sniped you, that's what you would get. A friend recently lost connection for a few seconds as he was running up to a guy to talk to him. All my friend saw was a guy running into a fence, looked like he was desyncing. My friend started to talk to the guy, then all of a sudden black screen and dead. We assume what happened is he lost connection and the guy guy he was trying to talk to who looked like he was just running into a wall actually shot him while he was timing out.

It's actually still a really fun game if you're willing to temporarily change your playstyle. You don't have to change your view of what it should one day be, to enjoy the fun parts of what it is now. I'm just using this "PvP only" vibe to get my PvP game well on point, while also remembering that one day things should be much more deep and survival based. Also, it's a sandbox so part of the experience will always be creating content of your own, and setting your own goals.

It's actually still really easy to find gear and food, which is why everyone is running around fully geared like a commando. Lack of meaningful zombies has effected the game and made it a little thin on entertainment but they'll be back in next patch we're told. It's an alpha and the game was always going to change a bunch of times for better and for worse as they play with settings and make it right. No, AI soldiers are a bad idea in my opinion. I'd just wait for zombies and new vehicles, new weapons and stuff. As far as food it's incredibly easy to stay alive to the point nobody worries about starving or dehydration anymore. I think they need to fix the Apple glitch, the Officer glitch and add hard ass zombies to the mix, all the while slightly reducing military grade weapon spawns. Then we'd have a monster on our hands ;)

Mine's fairly high end and i still use that method, it gives me noticeable FPS increase in big cities that really helps my aim.

Admins have no such capability. The being shot through walls could be a glitch rather than a hack but still just as irritating. Infinite ammo mags / bullets seem fairly common these days so hopefully they might be looked at one day soon. Was recently squad wiped by a guy swimming in the floorboards too <_<

Never heard of this happening before.

Haha interesting :) though i have never come across a wrong one that i noticed. Any chance you could help me find one? Maybe mark it on a map or just tell me which way to walk from a landmark or something? Cheers.

Basically it seems items protect you somewhat from the "bleeding" status, but if you do get the bleeding status then having many items in your bag will make that bleed worse. Shock as i can work out, is just worse the more items you carry. Either way, protector cases good. Ugg.

It's really a % increase of around 5-10% frame rate, it works on any system running windows. Bill Gates thought it would be a great laugh to with-hold some of your precious processing power, it makes windows "seem" faster when you do things like open another program while running one etc but the real noticeable effect is that you're missing out on some of the processing power you deserve  It's also wprth checking your computers Power Options (search Power Options in start menu search thingy) and setting your computer to a high performance profile, instead of the Balanced one it is likely set to. Used fractionally more electricity, makes your computer do what it's damn well meant to do <_< Hope it helps , u think it's worth making a separate thread if many don't know this stuff?

It's a confusing subject to be fair mate but i'll outline my thinking to better clarify. WOBO did a whole heap of tests to work out exactly the effect of items in a backpack and i'll link the video at the end. He discovered that each item stored in a backpack increased blood loss from a standard projectile by around 0.65% meaning that 35 slots (mountain backpack) filled with 1 slot items increases blood loss by approx 22.75%. He also discovered in a previous video that shock damage is increased in a similar way. His findings show that reducing the number of items in storage increases the number of hits a player can sustain. Moving on to protector cases and ammo boxes, even full of items a protector case is viewed as 1 object. This means that assuming you are going to fill more than one slot in a piece of clothing or bag you are better off grouping them into a protective case / cases purely to reduce the number of items taken into account when calculating blood and shock damage. He did discover as well that having items in your clothing reduces the chance of bleeding occurring at all, but showed that this reduced chance of bleed is of very little concern when compared to the extra shock amount and bleed amount produced by the item quantity. It's possible this has changed given the test is over a year old, however as far as i'm aware the devs have not updated the damage system since. Here's the link because i'm tired and can't explain as well as him : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iu6FfGlQi0 What dya think Mookie?

One decent FPS fix is : ○ ALT-TAB out of DayZ once it's loaded to menu screen ○ Hit CTRL-ALT-DELETE ○ Click Task Manager ○ Find "DayZ.exe *32" in process list Then : (if using windows 7, if not skip to next step) Right click "DayZ *32" process, got to Set Priority and click HIGH. You are now done. Then : (If using windows 10) Right click "DayZ *32" go to "Go To Details". Then in the Details tab that opens, click the already highlighted "DayZ *32" and go to Set Priority, set priority to HIGH. You are now done. You should see a noticeable improvement in FPS immediately. There are edits you can make in the games text files to improve FPS also but this is a quick easy fix with decent effect you can perform at any time. You must however set this priority every time you start DayZ. Beware if you are running other programs as well as DayZ such as OBS or other recording software, or you are streaming, this may effect those programs. EDIT : Re-read OP and realised this was nothing to do with FPS

Not so sure about that either.

You google it, ere ya go i took the liberty : https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+edit+dayz+load+menu+character&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Because even with the bugs. their games are amazing. If you like i'll list any number of games from other publishers released full of irritating bugs. To make out it's only a few production companies is a bit short sighted. Here i'll start you off just off the top of my head : Assassins Creed Unity Skyrim Fallout New Vegas Battlefield 4 Diablo 3 GTA V Batman Arkham Night

Fair enough mate if you meant differently to how it sounded you have my apologies. I'd suggest however that telling people to "rake the shit out of their teeth" for misunderstanding your incredibly poorly written description is a little bad form though. Brother. The icing on the cake was when someone kindly wrote you a detailed account of how to navigate in the case of a broken compass, and you replied saying you wouldn't read past the 1st sentence. Suggest you either improve your communication / writing skills OR lose the attitude when people inevitably don't understand what you're on about. Either is fine. Brother.

Tbh i use M4 almost religiously, but that doesn't mean it's the best gun there is. It's more that i'm used to it and like the Red Dot and Acog combo that is available with it. M4 lacks stopping power and relies more on getting several shots landed to bring down a geared target. If i want someone to drop in the first couple of rounds i'd go with a 7.62 AK. There have been plenty of times i've died with an M4 where i would have lived had i had a bigger round to throw. Very much looking forward to the FAL, might even take over from my friend the M4 even if it is semi-auto. To be fair the SKS warriors can get near full auto fire rates out of it just by firing.. well... quickly.

[Proper Names 101] Quonset Hut vs Officer Tent
KenoSkir88 replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
"z vlnitého plechu" is what i got from an online traslation of "Quonset" into Czech. Can someone Czech confirm this for me? Assuming this is correct we now know what to call them, and i look forward to a thrilling guide on both how to pronounce it as well as why the number of syllables is relevant :) -
"Understanding Realism in Computer Games through Phenomenology" (DayZ discussion).
KenoSkir88 replied to scriptfactory's topic in General Discussion
I strongly disagree mate :) Sweeping statements cannot cover this topic. Realism in terms of DayZ in my opinion means that aside from the infected presence being a given and the catalyst for everything else, the aim is to make it as close to real world as is possible within given constraints. If someone is able to tell that i have killed based on anything other than word or mouth or actually witnessing the event or evidence thereof the game would lose much respect from a lot of the player base. How the game communicates internal sensations and notifications is up for debate because it cannot be done in a realistic sensational way with current technology. Adding external signs that would never exist in real life that help another player assess your motives is a massive step in the wrong direction i believe.
