I FOUND A TENT. But some jackass deployed it in the middle of the street in Novaya Petrovka. Thanks for the battery that was sitting inside it though I guess.

Okay so I just got home from work and logged on. Last time I played I logged out in the far north just outside Novaya Petrovka (decent size city, definitely not the biggest on the map). I found my first tent there during my last play session! :) Anyways, back on track. Right now it is night time and pouring down rain. My graphics settings are as follows; Rendering Resolution: 125% VSync: Enabled Objects: High Terrain: High Clouds: Disabled Shadows: Disabled Texture Detail: High Texture Filtering: High Antialiasing: Normal Alpha to Coverage: All trees + grass Edge Smoothing: FXAA Normal HDR Quality: High Ambient Occlusion: Enabled Postprocess Quality: High Bloom: Minimum (turned off) Rotation Blur: Minimum (turned off) I have been running around town for about 10 minutes or so since I got home from work and my fps has hovered between 56 - 63 the entire time (with the exception of the 1 second freezes while stuff is loading that happen every few minutes or so). My PC specs are as follows: CPU - i5-4690k running @ 3.5GHz right now GPU - EVGA GTX 970 4GB clocked @ 1317MHz 16GB G.Skills Ripjaws RAM DDR3 1866 DayZ is installed on a 128GB Kingston SSDNow V300 MSI Z97 MOBO I noticed that when I turn shadows and clouds on my fps gets raped, which is why I always turn them off. Yea, shadows and clouds are nice from a visual standpoint, but not nice enough to have my fps drop due to something I hardly ever pay attention to. I think in my original post about fps when I said I was running everything at max I was thinking about Arma 3 for whatever reason. It looks like my graphics settings in DayZ are turned down a bit compared to Arma. Regardless, I hover around 60 fps the majority of the time I am playing.

I'll post my exact settings/specs when I get home from work in about an hour.

I'm running an OC'd i5-4690K with a GTX 970. Decent setup, but by no means anything super special. I just don't notice huge FPS drops like everyone else is talking about. Other than OC'ing my CPU and messing with the few graphics settings I listed above I haven't screwed with anything else. TBH the only time I notice my FPS dropping is when I zoom in while in 3rd person, I might drop to like 40-45, but as soon as I zoom back out it goes back to normal. I'm basing my FPS off of what Shadowplay says, Idk if that is giving me an incorrect number or not?

I can see where the full on survival gameplay style would be appealing, though for me it gets rather boring to play like that all the time. I play solo for the most part, so as you can imagine I try not to go full retard and run into an area without first scoping it out, but sometimes it's fun to just throw caution to the wind and see what kind of trouble you can get into. Sometimes it ends up being fun as hell getting into a few nice little firefights and escaping, other times I end up respawning and starting over :). I spend a lot of time camping what I consider to be high traffic areas. I typically won't engage someone while I'm camping unless they are fairly well geared or pose some sort of immediate threat (have a weapon out moving toward me or in very close proximity). I try to avoid shooting freshies unless they shoot first. I don't want to be THAT GUY that is just a total douche canoe and shoots everything he sees. Besides, I've met quite a few cool people simply by holding my fire and giving them a chance to talk :).

Will post a couple screenshots when I get home from work if you'd like. I'm not trying to suggest that others aren't having FPS issues, I was just stating that I guess I am one of the few that isn't. Yay for me? Idk.

I notice people have been talking about fps issues and whatnot regardless of their system setup.. Just throwing this out there but I very very rarely drop below 60 fps regardless if I am in a massive city or in the middle of B.F. nowhere. All of my video settings are near max, the only things I disable/turn down are shadows (simply because they are annoying), and the 'slider' settings like rotation blur/bloom. /shrug

I was freaking out the other day because I looked high and low and never found a glow plug or battery and then all of the sudden I found two of each, now I can't find a damn truck to put them in. WHY ME!?
-
One of the new barracks had like 15 hats laying on the ground so I grabbed one of those, a weapon flashlight and a damaged AK handguard that I had been carrying around with me for a while. Almost 3 days later and they are all three still laying on the ground near the bushes/trees I left them sitting beside.
-
Then explain to me why I have moved 3 items from their original spawn location @ the NWAF and dropped them under trees and in bushes in random locations around the NWAF and they haven't despawned in almost 3 days. Unless someone is running around the forest with their inventory open, they aren't going to find them. I'm 100% sure they have been untouched the entire duration they have been hidden, yet they have not despawned.

Yet EVERY single post that people make in response to the age old "Where do I find loot?" question is little more than "Run northwest or to NWAF, get off the coast because there is no loot there!" Unfortunately the same can be said about the NWAF and every other town in between, around and nowhere near. There is simply no loot on the map. I started playing fresh on a different server a little over an hour ago. I spawned in Berezino and so far I have ran from Berezino -> Gorka -> Polana -> Shakhovka, searching every house along the way and so far I have found a Rider's Jacket, 2 cans of food and a Splitting Axe. There are 30 people on the server and it is a private hive. Are you going to tell me that my path I have taken that completely avoids NWAF or any other high-end spots and goes in a ridiculous circular path that makes absolutely no sense has recently been travelled and looted as well? That seems highly unlikely, yet here I am, finding barely enough food to keep myself from starving and not a damn thing else.
-
Actually no, I didn't make a direct line there. Like I said, I spent over an hour and a half travelling back to NWAF and searched damn near every building I came across along the way.
-
As much as it sucks to say so, I'm glad I'm not the only person experiencing this. I've been keeping tabs on a few items around the NWAF on the private server that I play on since Wednesday evening and so far they are still there. I have picked a few items up and dropped them in random areas in the forest surrounding the NWAF and they are still sitting there every time I wander past and check on them. Hopefully this issue with loot cleanup is something they can track down and fix without having to wait for 0.59 or another future patch. I was really looking forward to playing in 0.58, but if loot cleanup continues malfunctioning I might just have to park DayZ on the shelf again and wait for a bit longer to pick it back up. I love this game, it's just insanely frustrating.

Please take 2 minutes to read my entire post. I would appreciate any help/answers. So how exactly does loot respawn? Isn't there supposed to be some sort of cleanup and clears items that are laying on the ground after a certain amount of time and new items will eventually spawn? Over the past two days that I've been playing the exact same items have been sitting on the ground at the NWAF and several surrounding cities on the server I call home. Is loot cleanup simply not working or am I not understanding the new loot system altogether? Also, I died last night and spawned in Chernogorsk. I spent about 1 1/2 hours running from Cherno back up to the NWAF area and I found like 6 items out of roughly 50-60 buildings I searched in my trek back to the northwest. I understand that it is supposed to be more difficult to find certain things with this new CLE system, but I didn't even find anything common that was worthwhile.. 1 1/2 hours worth of travelling and I found a jacket, hat, .22 pistol and a couple cans of food. No backpacks & no decent civilian weapons (I would have been happy with damn near anything other than a single-shot .22 pistol). Please don't take this as another person complaining about not logging in and finding a fully-kitted M4 within the first 15 minutes of playing. I am all for making it more difficult to find high-end weapons and whatnot. I absolutely hated the coastal battle-royale that was patch 0.57. I'm just curious what I am doing wrong as far as not finding anything worthwhile after hours of playing and seeing the same loot on the ground for (real world) days at a time. If I understand what Brian Hicks said in his status report on Aug. 15th, items are supposed to stay in the world for 30 minutes. If they aren't interacted with after 30 minutes they will despawn and something else will spawn somewhere in the world to take its place. Based on my experience so far, this isn't happening.

I ran all over the map last night; I played for about 7 hours or so. I spent the last hour and a half or so of my play session hanging around the NWAF. During that time loot never cycled/respawned/despawned or anything of the sort. I thought that was kind of odd because I thought there was supposed to be a loot "cleanup" with 0.58. I ended up going to bed right before 12 AM midnight when the server I was playing on restarted. When I logged off the exact same items were on the ground at the NWAF and in several surrounding towns that were there for several hours prior to me logging off. I hopped back on this morning at 6:30 AM and the exact same loot is still present that was here last night. NWAF; same loot in the same locations as before. The same can be said about several surrounding cities; Novaya Petrovka, Topolniki, Vavilovo, Lopatino, Vybor, Kabanino, Stary Sobor, Novy Sobor and Grishino.. Loot in all of those towns is exactly the same as was there when I passed through last night, well over 10 hours ago. So what's up? Is the server broken? Is 0.58 broken? Is loot simply not supposed to respawn/cycle?
