I wouldn't advise OCing your card (or system for that matter) for the purpose of arma (or dayz, which is just a derivative of arma) as you will not see any significant gains.

Remember that this is Arma, you cannot really hope to get much more than 30 FPS regardless of hardware. Why? We can only speculate, I suspect however, that the game tries to grab too much data straight from the hard-drive and probably doesn't use as much memory as it should thus creating a bottleneck meaning your CPU and GPU can't work at their full potential as they must wait on the slowest part of any computer: The hard-drive. This bottleneck shows itself when the object count is high. Such as in cities or with very long view distances (more objects in view). I'm using an SSD, and I can't say that really makes much of a difference. You could try RAID SSDs but unless bohemia themselves say that the game can actually be run at 60 FPS and they provide steps to reproduce it then you're basically shit out of luck until bohemia decides it's time to rewrite the whole rendering engine. Oh and of course the netcode matters. So you must keep that in mind as well, arma notoriously has bad multiplayer performance. The causes can be many, the aforementioned bottlenecks or the heavy reliance on scripts. It's just a fact of arma that you're just not gonna get consistent 60 fps. Some armadrones will tell you that they get 'great performance', but that just means they consider 30-40 to be great. So you're not the only one.

Rocket, don't charge money for the maps please
integ3r replied to DieBrotmafia's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't mind it in principle, but the problem is that this could potentially split the community leading to some maps being dead in activity.... -
Rocket, Please don't. (Dayz on Console).

Rocket, Please don't. (Dayz on Console).
integ3r replied to alcatraz968's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You say that but it doesn't offer anywhere near the same level of precision as a mouse. If you think it does, you are delusional. Most console games have a level of auto-aiming. -
Rocket, Please don't. (Dayz on Console).

I swear to god if this is going multi-platform my rage will turn the planet to lava. He's got to understand that the "experiment" will be limited CRIPPLED if it's supposed to work on console as well. IT'S 6-7 YEAR OLD JUNK. -
Use them if you want to. That's my thoughts.

Range of heartbeat and direct chat. And is this a DM?
integ3r replied to mattressi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I had 4 murders once and my friend told me he could hear a heartbeat very faintly. He needed to be within like 10m in order to hear it though... Don't know if more murders increase the range. -
What Has Changed The Dayz Player Mentality
integ3r replied to TheBeanAholic's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think rocket has the right idea. We'll see things shift once more tools come into play. Factions... notoriety... deeper character customization... and more end game goals beyond vehicle repair. Like basebuilding and gear production which would be a large incentive for cooperation and grouping. People want challange, and currently the biggest challenge is killing bandits... the second biggest challenge is killing players in general. -
What Has Changed The Dayz Player Mentality
integ3r replied to TheBeanAholic's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The truth is that people are getting bored after a few hours of exploration and getting pwnsome gear. What's left after that? PvP (and pranking). That's the simple truth. Hopefully it will be more in the future, but it currently isn't. -
What has happened to this community?

Remember, one bean-eater killed today is one less bandit in the future. Do your duty! -
M4a3 CCO or M4a1?
integ3r replied to jaymurphy98@hotmail.co.uk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Should have taken the M4A1. Way more hardcore. Aimpoints and flashlights? You got batteries for that shit? FUCK NO. Grip? Enjoy it getting in the way when shooting from other stances. Hate to break it to ya man. You dun goofed. -
THE NUMBERS, MASON WHAT DO THEY MEAN Anyway, it's actually impossible to know what they mean. Socalled One-time pad encryptions are impossible to crack unless you have the key. But OP could have made it sovable or more likely just threw random things together.

Winchester or Lee Enfield? [POLL]
integ3r replied to Dawn (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Lee. Nothing beats it when you just need some guy dead. For zombies, there's the sidearm. -
It's quite simple, you just crawl in.

I met the most kind guy in DayZ so far. In cherno.
integ3r replied to unit82's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Remember, always shoot people in cherno. They're all cunts. When not in cherno, shoot them too, they're honorable bandits or disconnecters. -
HackZ: My experiences with DayZ over the past month
integ3r replied to Machinaeclipse's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I can't say I've seen much hacking on EU servers. I think most just hack in gear for themselves and shoot people in cherno so it's harder to tell. -
If warZ is good, then DayZ can just steal features from it. :P

Just So Everyone Knows (end game)
integ3r replied to Catalogue's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
He is, essentially, right. Rocket has said that they're working on more end-game oriented content and tools. Such as constructing underground bases and factions. With that comes more options. Say putting bounties on bandits, faction warfare, equipment manufacturing and trading, stealing from other players etc. Notoriety might come into play so that famous characters, such as a doctor or player killer or bandit hunter or trader might become more recognizable. All speculation, but this seems like the direction DayZ is headed in. There was some talk about radios, that could bring player run radio stations. That'd be hilarious. But to think that DayZ in its current state is much more than scavenging, fixing a vehicle or two and then turning to PvP is just wearing fangoggles. Though it is a sandbox game, so there are a few 'pranks' you could pull. Axemurdering, taxi driving, kidnapping, etc. -
Puhlease give us more clothing options or character customization!
integ3r replied to ajrunke03@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You can tag each other with green chemlights. During the day, you're not more visible, it'll just look odd. You can't see them beyond 70M. In the future, you could maybe use IR strobes or customization. I'd love to see customizable clothing. Even more if it had an effect on inventory, heat retention, mobility etc. -
Yes it is, because it doesn't work. The pointer only works on the L85.

Balance changes due for "high-end" items and more
integ3r replied to ForcefulCJS's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Batteries is a needed mechanic. L85A2 scope should need batteries, FAL with NV scope should need batteries and NVGs should need batteries. GPS should allow waypoints (currently all you need is a map) and it should require batteries. Rangefinder should require batteries. Sure, they'll still be overpowered in combat but DayZ is not a combat game. It's a survival game. It's OK if someone has "OP" equipment. It's what makes it interesting. Why is running a bad idea if you live another day? It's a good thing. -
DayZ should become a stand alone game using a different engine.
integ3r replied to Harris (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
DayZ is in alpha, but really just barely. Rocket isn't 100% sure where to take DayZ or what it will become and that's why there's no need to make a move to standalone... yet. It's an experiment. No not "hurr durr social experiment" hipster crap, it's an experiment to see what sort of gameplay works. Arma 2 is extremely moddable, this allows for many things to be tested and experimented with before deciding if they're worth bringing along in the full game. Rocket can basically do whatever he likes here just to see if it works or not. That is a huge advantage because much of the gameplay is emergent and adding a set of tools will not necessarily make it obvious what players will do with those tools, unless you, of course, just implement them and see what happens. Once there's a coherent vision backed by this experiment which shows what the goal for DayZ is (End game, meta game, mechanics etc.), what it should be at the end of the line, that's when you make the move. Feature creep then is just a bonus. At that point, Arma 3 would not be a bad idea. For one, BI is independent and makes non-mainstream games. This lets rocket avoid executive meddling "we want CoD audience DLC and multiplatform". BI doesn't give a shit about consoles and thank fuck for it. The arma 3 engine is the same as arma 2 engine just improved, might be able to just easily port the whole thing over. Cryengine is a mess. It crashes all the fucking time. Could it do DayZ in its current state? Maybe, could it do DayZ at the end of the line? We don't even know what that is yet, so what's the point of this discussion?
