    I don't have tons of friends, but when I do play with others we roll like this: 1 sniper/overwatch 1 looter Watch can look for Z's and other survivors and guide/cover the looter

    Can you actually shoot and eat the crows? It's the only way to absorb their power.

    An attempted experiment...

    Just today I passed a guy who had no weapons. He was sitting on the coast doing nothing. Walked up to him, had a look, then he told me he was waiting for someone. I left him alone. Later, I was going to Rog castle, and someone was already there. He called out to me even though he'd get me by surprise if he just hid. He told me he had a single bullet left. I gave him some morphine, told him there was food and ammo in the tower, then we parted ways.

    THIS GAME IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR NOOBS

    People who aren't new to the game adapted to no-guns quickly due to meta-gaming knowledge. We can recognize what buildings are enterable, which buildings have loot, what to avoid, etc. I can understand getting rid of the makarov, but this hurts new players the most. Everyone else knows where to go. Reducing ammo won't work either, because players would just kill each other for makaroni mags. The solution, imo, is to let everyone start with a crowbar. Seems very elegant to me. Players talk to each other before they can get within whacking distance, there is no point in whacking each other because the other player only carries a crowbar same as you. You can defend against a zombie which followed you into the woods instead of suiciding or initiating a marathon.

    Is it hard to find a gun in 1.7.1.5?

    It's hard for noobies and not for anyone else. Kind of unfortunate like that.
  7. Enter doorway, same thing. Close gate, same thing. Climb ladders, fall to death. Vault wall, here we go... Take cover behind stationary truck. Ooops. Turned a bit quickly in a tight hallway, bye bye bones. This crushing has done much much much more harm than any sort of good for gameplay... Why is it even there? For my bones sake... atleast TONE IT DOWN.
  8. This is not about infected breaking your bones. It's about how everything seems to crush you and THEN break your bones, leave you bleeding and unconscious for completely idiotic reasons. There's nothing about this in the patch notes. Sure this might be a problem with the engine, but surely the consequences of "squishing" can be toned down.

    Server hopping is cheating!!

    If you hop, loot won't spawn if you're standing next to it. So essentially, the best way to loot hop is to exit the area, server hop, then enter the area again. There's always risk in that. Another player could be behind you, and you'll need to sneak past zombies again. Any feeling for the general safety of the area you had is lost. It's not like you aren't working for the loot. The only problem is players appearing out of nowhere with no warning in a PVP environment... Which could be solved if there actually was a warning.

    Hopping for loot isn't cheating. Hopping for PvP reasons, is. (Reappearing behind someone.)

    It was dumb removing this before adding radios of some sort. It was a nice experiment, but IMO, the result didn't add anything to the game.

    Rocket is partially causing DC'ers

    Can't a disconnect be interpreted as a connection time-out? And so the server keeps waiting for packets from him for X seconds before actually removing him from the game?

    Content request: Evil Wizard skin

    Let survivors who are killed by bandits respawn as ghosts. That way, players can haunt their murderers over direct communication and walking in their line of fire until the bandits get rid of their cursed loot. EDIT: This might be 2spooky4 some.

    What Identifies a bandit?

    A bandit is someone with a certain amount of negative humanity (the exact value is hidden). I don't think 1 or even 2 murders are enough to make you a bandit... I think I've only killed 1, maybe 2 bandits in total. Ever. Supposedly you'll hear a rapid heartbeat when you put your cursor on a person with very low humanity.

    More than 2 weapons?

    Here's what you need to know in order to keep extra weapons. A sidearm takes 5 Slots A main weapon takes 10 Slots (this means it's impossible to have one in the coyote.) A single magazine/clip takes 1 slot -Sometimes when dropping weapons, you will automatically drop the ammo aswell! So make sure you have room for the ammo in the pack, or you may lose it. The coyote backpack (not the patrol pack) has 24 slots. This means you can have 2 main weapons weapons and 4 smaller items like ammo.

    Anyone notice...

    People are metagaming. Don't like their spawn? Respawn until they get where they want. Artificially increases death statistic. And ofcourse, you now start without a gun. So there's a trial and error element involved.

    Red is also less visible because it isn't scattered by the atmosphere. SCIENCE.

    I think the deal is that it's easier to be stealthy with it since others can't see you as easily while you can more or less see well enough.

    Side-chat did no harm if you ask me. I mean, it didn't even ruin immersion, it was like an open radio.
  21. Last time you logged out, the database got corrupt data and your position was set to far northwest. Consider yourself lucky, used to be 000,000 which is in the middle of the ocean. Just go southeasth and you'll get back on the map. If you can't find southeast, you're screwed. Try using your watch, or the stars if you don't have a compass.

    A viable way to limit server hopping exploit

    Server hopping is part of the game and encourages population on low-pop servers. So long as you are in high-risk areas there is always risk, no matter the server you are on. So hopping for loot isn't a problem if you ask me. Hopping for PVP reasons is another matter though...

    But DayZ is driving alot of the patching for Arma 2. They could just improve the engine, it isn't that far fetched.
