I think some servers are fucked up. I've played on some servers where there's absolutely no loot. Almost every building will be spotless, not even a tin can in sight. I just switch servers if I notice its like that, because I assume something is bugged with the server. Found a few good servers that tend to consistently have loot. Also, found some NVGs at a crashed heli tonight.

One of the downsides to a bigger population playing the game.

[short video] This is vhat I do when I encounter vehicles out of bounds
denkart replied to LeYuno (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Thanks for that man. My friend and I have been trying to find a vehicle for days now with no luck. I wouldn't be surprised if most of them are out of bounds. -
Zombies are seriously too fast.
denkart replied to Worrun (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You can escape them easily... It's called taking a sharp turn around a corner. Or running through a building with 2 entrances. It's not that hard at all. -
I agree, bandits add some much needed spice to the game. I wish not everyone was a bandit, but hey it's just a game so I can't complain. I think the zombies really need some buffs. Sure, they're hard to deal with when you first start playing DayZ, but after an hour or two of learning the mechanics, they're hardly a threat.

Happened back when I was new to the game and had no idea where I was or what to do for the most part. I was low on blood, about 4k left. In desperate search for food to heal up, I see a town ahead. I accidentally aggro a zed and just run for it, aggroing about 10 more on the way. I keep running until I get to a ladder and climb up it. I get up there and try to get a sense of my location and realize I'm right next to a fire station. So I move to the other side of the building to climb down a different ladder, but I accidentally just walk off the building instead of climbing down, breaking my legs and knocking me unconscious for a few seconds. I was at about 2k blood when I woke up and had a zombie eating me. I shot it with my AKM and pissed off a ton more zombies. At this point I figure I have to make it to the fire station or I'm screwed. So I'm desperately crawling across the street to the fire station while shooting tons of zeds that are coming from all sides. Finally I make it into the fire station and luckily I find some morphine in there. As soon as I get my leg patched up, some people start shooting at me. I sprinted out of sight and closed the door to the fire station. Now at this time I'm thinking of my options. I could just run out of the back door and make a break for it, possibly aggroing way more zombies than I could handle and dying in a field. Screw that, I thought, I'm going to make my stand right here.. I'm sick of running. I slowly crept up the stairs into the second floor. I get sight of 3 bandits on top of the building I had just fallen off earlier. I decide to wait for just the right moment to strike. As soon as they started making for the ladder, I attack. POP POP, 1 dead bandit falls off the ladder, POP POP POP, another bandit dies on the roof. The third starts to return fire at me. I retreat back behind the wall. There was no way I could shoot from that window again with the last bandit watching it, so I head back to the bottom floor. This is it, I thought to myself, I get one shot at this. I take a deep breath, open up one of the fire station doors, aim down my sight, get my crosshair on the last bandit's head, AND... pass out from low blood and get shot. lol.

At this stage, DayZ is not playable.
denkart replied to ninami's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My friends and I have been playing for about 2 months now and have never run into any cheaters. I guess we've been lucky. -
I've seen quite a few in the barracks before.

What time in the night does it start to get brighter?

Around 2 a.m., I think. -
Maximize Frame Rate On DayZ and Arma2 - Low Frames Fix
denkart replied to MorninAfterKill's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
I can confirm that. I'm using an ATI card and saw a huge increase in performance. -

what exactly is end game in dayz?
denkart replied to Justin619's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There isn't an 'endgame' yet. So just do whatever you want. Kill people, fix cars, set up a camp, help noobs on the coast, become a medic, etc. The mod is still a long way from being done. Rocket is trying to get the core of the game working before he goes and adds an endgame. Rest assured that it'll be added when the time is right. -
3-4 guys shooting lone survivors. Nice kills, I guess, but not really worth making (or watching) a youtube video of.

Thank god I read this post before watching the video. Let me know to turn down my volume a lot lol.

am i the only one getting pissed off at most of hte servers not sticking to their advertised GMT/UTC time?
denkart replied to A.Jones's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Nah, it can be kind of annoying sometimes. Most servers seem to do a pretty good job of sticking to their timezone, though. -
Report the server admin.

Confirmation required on Respawning (slaying yourself)
denkart replied to bonesnap's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'd like this idea, but it probably is pretty low on the to-do list. I don't expect to see it anytime soon, so just be extra careful when navigating your menu from now on! -
Had a m16 with grenade launcher, m1911, plenty of ammo for both, alice pack, medical supplies, food, etc. Some of my video settings were causing FPS issues, so I went to the menu to change them, only, instead of clicking options, I accidentally clicked respawn. Whoops. I was also carrying a M4A1 that I was going to deliver to my buddy who just spawned on the coast lol.

I'm afraid I've had to advise friends/family against this fine mod (why?)
denkart replied to Mr Muggles's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
All I can say is, do some more research next time. If you had spent more than a few minutes looking into it, you would have realized that people can kill each other without penalty. This should have led to the logical conclusion that people are going to be killing each other a lot. It's an online game after all. Even if the logical part of your brain isn't working, there are tons of videos on youtube that show this kind of behavior. So again, next time do some more research and try to be a well informed consumer before giving away your money. This is a mod that's still in it's alpha stage... you shouldn't have spent money on it in the first place tbh. -
I've had this happen a lot of time. Here's what fixes it for me: switching servers. Sometimes I only have to switch servers once, sometimes I have to do it 5 times, but I always eventually get my character back.

THIS CANT BE TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!
denkart replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Lol, OPs reaction is exactly what Rocket wanted. -
I agree that the zombies are way to easy. Here's a little tip to make them a bit more threatening though. Play on a night time server. One where it's pitch black and there's no moon out. I've had some pretty scary moments where I was walking through the woods with a friend. One time, I stumbled upon a helicopter crash in complete darkness (had no idea I did at the time) and about 8 military zombies started attacking me. Now I couldn't see a damn thing and my friend didn't know where I was, so I was yelling at him to shine his flashlight on me. He eventually got the light on me just in time for me to unload into all the zombies with my AK right before they surrounded me. I probably would've gotten killed there if I were solo. Sure, I suppose I could have just tried running away or something, but I had more fun just trying to kill them all in the darkness. Your other complaints are pretty much invalid though. Whether or not you think Alpha has lasted too long, it IS STILL IN ALPHA and will remain there for as long as it needs too. New things are being added all the time and there are still tons of things to be tested and ironed out before it can even move to the beta stage. The bugs can't just be waved out of existence with a magic wand, and you yourself admit there are a lot of bugs which is exactly why it's still in alpha. As for Rocket doing things like interviews, the game is very popular and people want to know what his plans are for the game. I doubt he's doing the interviews because he WANTS to do them. It's more like he's doing them as a service to the community because people WANT to know what's going on.

Can someone tell me why there isnt a connecting and disonnecting message
denkart replied to Cobain (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think it went away around the same time side chat was removed. Not sure why it was removed. It was nice knowing who all the lame ass DC-ers were.
