That's what I was thinking. Waypoints don't have to be totally removed from the game, but it should be something that GPS provides instead of the map.
-
Why bump a thread that was made back in June.. ?
-
I think they'll remove waypoints eventually. Being able to set a waypoint with just a map pretty much makes things like a compass or a gps useless. Yep, point to where you wanna go on the map and shift + left click it.

People shooting unarmed people, why?
denkart replied to kitta's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Perhaps when the game goes stand alone, there might be servers that enforce an RP rule set. That might be something you'd enjoy. Until that happens though you're gonna have people that just mindlessly kill and not much can be done about it. -
To the guy I just ran over with my bus

Try to find him and drive him back to his body lol -
I don't think gear trading will ever make the leap to trading for real money in this game. It's way too easy to lose all your stuff and it's not all that hard to find the items you need in the first place. As for forum trading, well there's no stopping that so whether you're for it or against it doesn't really matter.

I did :P Anyways, the people that bought Arma 2 for Day Z still can't really complain. It's their own fault. They shouldn't have spent money to get a mod that's still in it's alpha stages if they're the type to get upset about bugs. Even rocket has said not to buy Arma 2 unless you actually want Arma 2 haha.

Yeah, loot hording gets pretty boring. The only thing I hold onto is my motorcycle. I'll fight to the death for that thing lol. Saves so much walking time. I've had it through at least 10 different lives by now. Gotta love how easy they are to hide in a tree.

People shooting unarmed people, why?
denkart replied to kitta's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I can't argue with you on that point. Yes, by them shooting you, they are limiting what you can do in your sandbox. There's not much I can say here. You can't stop them from building sand cannons to destroy your castle. Not to be rude, but perhaps this simply isn't the mod for you. You should try to find a sandbox with some limitations on players actions, so that your particular play style can flourish. It's not going to happen in Day Z (or probably any online game) where players are free to kill as they please. -
Day Z is free man. It'll get fixed when it's fixed, until then just chill and don't stand in front of the doors.

There may be more to do in the sand box, but it's not exactly up to you what other players do with their sand now is it? If people want to play Day Z to DM, then that's within their rights. Who are you to tell them they can't? Lord of the sand box? If you don't like people stomping on your castle, then go play on the monkey bars. -
I'm a guy and I use to alternate between skins. One life I would play as a male, the next I'd play as a female. Just to spice up the game a bit. However, ever since I learned that females can't wear ghillie suits, I've played exclusively as a male.

Haha just be more careful when you open doors man! I got killed by a door for the first time about a month ago. Ever since then, I just make sure I'm in a position where the door won't swing into me when I open it. No incidents since then! The doors are killers but they can be worked around without too much effort on your part.

You know, in a real zombie apocalypse
denkart replied to fluffyg's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The rifles ARE NOT common, as I've already told you. Sadly, duping is what is common. You should make a thread about exploiters, at least then you'd be whining about the right thing. I'm not trolling just because I'm telling the truth. -

denkart replied to fluffyg's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you're not going to do research, then you have no business saying that sniper rifles are too common when you obviously don't know that. If you had taken 10 seconds to look into the spawn rates, you would see that sniper rifles are very rare. Another 10 seconds, and you would've found out that people exploit the shit out of this game by duping their equipment, which accounts for why there are so many sniper rifles presently. Also, common sense would dictate that you should know what the fuck you're talking about (a.k.a. do a little research) before you make a post whining about it. -
You know, in a real zombie apocalypse
denkart replied to fluffyg's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I will if you try using some common sense. Rifles aren't nearly as rare in real life as you seem to think they are. And for the record, they're not very common ingame. The M24 has a .19% spawn rate. Any lower than that, and you'd almost never see them. The reason you see so many sniper rifles is because people dupe their equipment. Try doing a little research before you start asking to have drop rates nerfed. P.S. The fault isn't in my reading comprehension. No where in your post did you clearly state that you were talking about sniper rifles being to common. You said they should be rarer at the end, but your thread topic and most of your post made it seem like you were talking about mindless killing. Be more clear next time. When there are this many people misinterpreting your point, then obviously something was wrong with the way your message was worded. -
You know, in a real zombie apocalypse
denkart replied to fluffyg's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You know, even with all the laws we have in place to prevent mindless killing in society today, there's still a lot of mindless killing. Just look at the batman shooting from a couple of weeks ago or the DC sniper from a few years ago. There are people like that in real life in our society TODAY and these things still happen despite all of our laws. So in a "real zombie apocalypse" where there are no such laws, I'm pretty sure there'd still be lots of mindless killing. Try using common sense OP. -
Goats usually just disappear when I spot them. I use to just think that was a bug, but now I know the truth. They're alt f4'ing because they're scared that I'll kill them and take their helicopters.

Zombies should be like the weather. (What DayZ is doing right)
denkart replied to TimmyPage's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree with you in the sense that humans should be the most dangerous thing in the game. However I still can't help but feel that zombies aren't powerful enough in this game. They shouldn't be the biggest threat but right now the zombies can hardly even be called a threat. Even when I do fuck up, the zombies still aren't a problem. I doubt I would ever die if I were to play on low pop servers all the time. -

And the reward for most retarded post of the thread goes to e47. "This game is a mirror of the real life" haha. It's a video game dude. Not everyone takes it as seriously. Some of the most hardcore pvpers I know are the nicest guys I've ever met in real life, and funnily enough one of the biggest assholes I know in real life tries to play as a friendly survivor. It's a game and how you play it doesn't say anything about your real personality. -
Yay, Bandit and Hero identifiers are coming in
denkart replied to tuleg1t's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, a buddy system could possibly fix the second situation if done right. I think that's something we might see in the future. In regards to the targeting system, that really has no place in FPS for a number of reasons. 1. Aiming is the main action in a FPS aside from shooting, so the targeting system could not provide any sort of auto aim. 2. If it provides no benefit to target someone, why use it? Bandits certainly aren't going to take the time to target you if all it does is net them a murder. 3. If you try to force players into using the target system by requiring them to target before firing, you limit player's reaction speed, which is essential in a FPS. When you're under fire, that extra second it takes you to target someone could be what gets you killed. I don't see a way a targeting system could be implemented without being clunky and cumbersome for the players. But maybe there's something I'm not seeing? -
Haha, right after seeing this video, I saw a thread called "People shooting unarmed people, why?". I posted this video in that thread as a response.

It would appear so. It's possible that what I experienced was only a bug though. I'm not in a position to confirm or deny that. It's buggy at best, if you what you said is true. However, let's take a moment to assume the rule set you suggested were implemented and fully functional. Assuming that one must shoot another player first to be declared a bandit and you must be the one who is shot to receive a bandit kill instead of a murder, I still don't believe this would solve the problem of self defense for heroes. I'll give you a couple of situations and explain why this rule set would still fail to protect heroes from getting murders. Both of these situations assume that the person attacking you has no murders yet and is not considered a bandit: Situation 1: You're in a fairly open field with little cover. Someone starts to fire shots at you, but doesn't manage to hit you before you find cover. There is no where for you to run without exposing yourself to more fire. Your only choice is to try to kill him before he kills you, but doing so will give you a murder because he hasn't hit you yet. Situation 2: Same area as the above situation. This time you have a friend with you. The attacker manages to hit you and break your leg, leaving you stranded in the field. Obviously, you could now shoot him and it would be a bandit kill according to the rule set, but due to low blood and the shakes from pain, it's impossible for you to get a good shot off. Your friend steps in to defend you and kills your attacker. Your friend now has a murder even though he was just defending you.
