Are you sure he wasn't just starving/dehydrated/sick?
-
I believe it's a placeholder sound for now. They'll change it eventually.
-
As others have said, it's bugged. For now, if you want to get your color back you have 3 options: 1. Get a friend to give you a blood bag 2. Get a friend to give you saline (although I've heard that being healed by saline is actually a bug) 3. Die
-
Politely ask the zombie to push you back through the wall. Nah, but in all seriousness, sounds like you're kind of screwed for the moment. Just leave yourself logged in until you die and make a report on the bug tracker.

http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus The airfields normally have military loot and there are also some military bases shown on this map. P.S. You might not want to admit that you're a "WarZ" vet around these parts.

I have had a ton of luck in Zelenogorsk. I left there with a hiking bag completely full of food and drink last time. Coastal towns/cities are almost always completely picked clean in my experience.

Yeah, I'm not saying ammo is rare exactly. What I'm getting as is that it's harder to find relative to most other items. For every five M4s I find, I'll find maybe one clip of ammo. Still not extremely rare or hard to find, but harder to find than other items as far as I can tell.
-
My apologies then. I suppose I misread your post.
-
I believe he was being sarcastic. Doesn't work so well over text, haha.
-
Good post. I agree with most of it. Something I'd like to point out though, ammo, for me, has been the most rare spawn as of yet. Also, I find empty magazines all the time, so they do not always spawn full. Still, even with ammo being the most rare item for me, I'm currently pretty loaded. Animals and more guns are on the way.

As much as I hate combat loggers, I can't say banning is a good idea so long as we're in alpha where crashes/disconnects are prevalent. Instead of banning, there just needs to be a timer that stops a person from logging for, say, 20-30 seconds as others have suggested.

I agree that it's pretty easy to survive right now. I'm not sure how they'll make it tougher, but I do know there will eventually be more zombies so that should hopefully make things a bit harder. Can't say for sure though. For now, you'll just have to hold tight and wait for updates. I'm sure rocket and his team have some things in store for us.

I don't see the problem really. There's always guaranteed to be at least one person in your group that has the same blood type as you. Who is that person, you ask? It's you. Have your buddy bag up some of your blood while you're healthy, and then use it as needed. The #1 rule to survival is to always be prepared for any situation. Make your blood bags while you're healthy and not at risk, so you can use them when you're in trouble.

You're new so I'll just say this, every single point you've raised in your post has been discussed and argued over a million times over. Anyways, the one thing that's for sure is that KoS, regardless of how you feel about it, simply isn't going any where any time soon. You don't have to KoS if you don't want to, but you can't do anything to control the actions of others. That said, I've had far more friendly encounters lately than I have hostile. In regards to the backstory, the original back story for the mod was that you were on a ship at sea, something happened to said ship, then you washed up on the shore. It may have changed since I've heard that, and I assume it has because there are now spawn points that are further inland. Also, there actually are signs that tell you where they are, but they're in Russian since that's where this game takes place. You'll have to find a way of translating them.

You're getting a lot of hate because what you're talking about here isn't really a problem. I mean, have you ever played an online multiplayer game before? From the way you're posting it seems like you haven't. Every game will have vets that are better. New people will always suck. It's like that in every single game. Will new people get killed by vets? Yes, of course. That's how things work. Will new people get killed a lot while first starting out? Yes, of course. What do you suggest? Do you think DayZ should be dumbed down to the point where any new player can pick up a gun and go on a killing spree within 5 minutes of starting out? No. They have to put in their time. They have to learn the ropes. They have to get better, just like everyone else. Will some people quit? Yes, but some will stay. Just like with any other game.
-
I don't understand. You're mad because people that have played the game longer are better than you? That's how every single game is. Would you get mad if you played Counter Strike for the first time and got owned by people that have played for 10 years? That's just the way it is. Either play until you get better or don't.
-
Don't be silly. There are plenty of legit reasons to have to switch servers. Lag, play with friends, disconnects, etc. You shouldn't assume that the guy is server hopping for loot right away.
-
Reread your first sentence though. "Yes but he's in danger as soon as he logs back in". That's where the problem lies. Take this situation for example. Two players are walking together when player one loses consciousness. Player two doesn't have the necessary supplies to bring player one back to consciousness so he goes searching for the supplies. Now, let's suppose that this would take about 30 minutes for player two to find the supplies. If player one is able to just log out while unconscious and then log back in when player two has returned with the supplies, he's realistically only danger for about 20 seconds of that entire 30 minutes. You see how that could be considered cheap, right? It's essentially the same as when people log out while under fire from other players or being chased by zombies. They log out to avoid danger, which goes against the point of this game.
-
You misunderstood me. Neither of those situations are similar to what I was talking about. In both of the situations you described, the unconscious individual would still be logged in, lying on the ground, waiting for help. The situation I described was of an unconscious person logging off, and remaining logged off (thus removing him from danger), until someone can help him. The unconscious individual is in no danger if he's offline the entire time while his friend goes to get supplies.
-
I'd say it is kind of cheating, yes. The whole point of being unconscious is that you're left in a vulnerable state and need help from others. If Rocket doesn't put this update through, then the whole going unconscious thing fails to serve its purpose. Why? Because people will just log off while waiting for their friend to collect the materials to save them and not be in any danger of having zombies or players come upon them and taking advantage of their state. Will it affect some people that just want to go to bed? Yeah, and that sucks, but its better than just having people cheese the system and avoid danger. Is there a better way to go about stopping people from logging while unconscious? Possibly, I don't know. If you think of any good alternatives, then post them! I'm sure Rocket and his team are open to good suggestions.
-
Thanks for the update, looks good. Rocket, one thing that I feel I should say is that the global chat bug doesn't only happen when players are dead. A friend and I, on different sides of the map, were both able to hear one guy talking over global and he was clearly still alive from the way he was talking and describing his actions. Good job on the standalone and all of the patches so far. Really enjoying myself.

Anyone else DayZ standalone doesn't even attempt to open?

Same thing sort of happened to me. When I hit the play button on steam, nothing happened. You probably already tried this, but just try right clicking DayZ's name in Library and just choosing Play Game from there. It launched for me when I did that. -
You're making the mistake of treating "the community" as a single entity with a single opinion. It's not. It's made up of tons of people. The people that were asking for DayZ to be released and claiming that they don't care what state it's in, most likely aren't the same people complaining about how buggy it is now. Other than that, I agree with your post.

So, last night I went into a house and shut the door behind me and logged off for the night. When I got on today, I'm unable to open the door. There's only one door here, so I'm certain that I'm not just looking at the wrong one. I can't open it so I'm just stuck in this room. I've tried logging out, changing servers, etc. Has anyone encountered this, and if you have, were you able to fix it? I'd like to note that before I logged out last night, I was able to open the door from both sides with no issues. If there's not a way out, then I suppose I'll just have to leave myself afk there until I starve to death.

Trapped in a house, doors won't work. Any fix?

Thank you sir.
