I ask a question wanting to know why the game was released so early without any actual content. Boom deleted within 5 min. Guess it is not up for discussion.
-
I want something to test not a running simulator. We have proved they can make a game with a lot of running in it already.

Charging people money to help you "make" a game....
Spikee187 replied to jBrick's topic in General Discussion
I understand what an Alpha is.... I have been playing Rust as of late on that note and that feels like an alpha. This however.... is a running simulator. I have found 4 zombies total only one of which actually attacked me. The loot spawns are mediocre at best and I find way to many T-shirts which I don't understand since well you can choose to wear a T-shirt from the start I am not exactly concerned about changing to a new color as a fashion statement. Now again I know this is alpha and for testing purposes etc. but why was this released so soon. This is clearly not ready for any real testing or playing. Were the developers scared of games like Rust and 7 days to die. Figuring oh shit people will forget about us lets let them know we are still here? I just don't get the point of releasing this... Exploration simulator when most people who have purchased this game already know the map... I mean I know what it was like playing the DayZ mod just after launch when everything was busted. Even then so many of us played because it was something new and different compared to the usual. However we now know what this game is suppose to be like, and I know what I am hoping it will eventually get to. I was so excited yesterday when I realized this was out I immediately got on steam downloaded it all amped up having watched the trailer. Knowing full well the game was not going to be finished but to grin and bare it... Instead of disappointment I got a full blown kick to the nuts. In closing I hope they get a fire under their ass since they foolishly decided to release this way early, and they fix all major aspects of the game play before people actually do lose interest. -
rocket & team: When you fix disconnect exploits, do NOT announce it

I support silent fix -
So it had come to this, relatively fully geared and on the verge of death. Just above 3k life after being knocked down (for the dumb length) and fought my way out. I was alive but barely when I last logged out. It's funny before I logged back in I had accepted death. Then I logged in and a self realization occurred. This is my character, I don't want to see him die not like this. (Due to my own stupidity, I had accidentally stashed my matches) So I decided if I am going down it will be on my terms. Into Cherno I went blurry screen and all. In search of matches I went from house to house eating everything I could find. Fortunately I found pain killers because my aim was shot from my previous encounter. Shooting was everywhere around me and though I was paranoid beyond belief I felt progress. My screen had a little more color, the shakes were gone, and my blood had increased by almost double. Matches were no where to be found though, and I stuck around much longer than I should have... A player needed aid and so did I, so I figured what do I have to lose at this point. Unfortunately we never met up I did run past another player being chased by a horde of zombies. I was in no condition to help so I left the immediate area. I decided I would go to the fire station for one last sweep. I go and should have realized something amiss with all the doors closed. I open the door and stand in shock as I see 8 players in there. They were far more prepared than I. At least half opened fire on me and I immediately dropped dead. Once more into the fray, into the last good fight I'll ever know.

Once more into the fray... (Story)
Spikee187 replied to Spikee187's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well something I realized that makes death so much less painful is how I treat a fresh character as opposed to one that made it through lets call its the coastal hazing. If I have nothing to lose the game is so much less stressful. I take unnecessary risks, I go in places I shouldn't and it's all one big gamble. After I have some time and equipment built up, I feel like an old man that experience dictates my choices and ask myself questions like "Do I really need it" or "How many gun shots was that". It's nice to be able to enjoy the carefree part of the game once in a while. -
Has anyone else just recently been getting stuck at wait for host? Everything has been running fine and then today I have been unable to log into multiple server and have just sat at wait for host for some time. Was wondering if anyone else has had this issue or not.

What is the actual purpose of barbed wire?
Spikee187 replied to ComboBreaker's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Agreed, they really do nothing for the game in all honesty. Players can hop servers to get past them, and in addition they are only used as an annoyance. They block doors to buildings where people are there to loot. No real purpose as zeds have no care in the world when it comes to the barbed wire. -
O.K. so I'll start by saying I am thoroughly annoyed with this whole concept. There is literally no reason for me to engage zombies ever. Especially out in a field or open area. I can (as I am sure the majority of regular players can) kite zombies through cities like Cherno all day with out firing a single shot. Then should I wish to kill a few I run in doors and casually head shot them one by one with no risk. However if I am out in a field etc. It is almost suicide to engage them, and even if you are successful and manage to not get hit and kill them all, all you have done is wasted ammo essentially. I was out at a deer stand at night just happened to run into it and pulled a zombie. I started at just above 10k blood, he hit me once and then was killed. Then the next one came and hit me once and then was dead. Finally the third came hit me once, and thank you RNG knocked out for that very long duration. Well long story short I got to sit there and watch as a single zombie killed me with no way to fight back. That being said, what is the point of even fighting them. There is no risk in running away except for really another player which is a risk you always have. Meanwhile if I stop and fight in an open area I am taking an incredible risk for no reason at all. There is far too much of an advantage to fighting in the big cities where all the better loot is anyways, than there is to hitting up small towns etc. I guess what I don't understand is why is it so easy to hit up the best places but so much more of a hazard to hit small towns, or areas in open fields. Also the knockdown feature for that duration? Really? Is that needed, if you have had any skirmishes odds are you will be close to 9k blood and then you have a chance to basically be killed by any 1 zombie? That doesn't seem right when if I am in a city I can walk in doors and execute 30 without any risk.
-
I understand, and I am in no way wanting it easier. My complaint is what is the point of not just running around in the big cities for the better supplies of loot. You can run around all day with zero zombie risk. Meanwhile the smaller towns that would logically be safer in theory due to lower population and less loot are actually harder since I can't run run through the majority of the buildings and lose them. Also I agree it is not impossible to engage zombies in an open field however, the risk just isn't worth it. If I can get hit once by a single zombie (proper blood level of course) and he could kill me as a result. What is the point? Instead I find myself doing less and less shooting and more and more running because it has the same effect, probably better as there is only a chance people will have proper line of site to see them chasing me, but its a guarantee that if I fire my weapon and they are near by they KNOW someone is near.
-
It really is just a Zombie turkey shoot in cities, whereas in the open your only really option if forced to engage is run. Or risk getting knocked down and killed by 1 or 2 zombies. Or getting cut so you get to bleed for a while, or just as bad they break your leg since apparently we are dealing with spartan zombies who hit with baseball bats and have a crazy ability to snap your leg like a twig.
-
Why give us guns then? If it's not truly a viable option.

When ROCKET posts a new thread (Generally about a hotfix etc.) I generally read what he says is coming etc. Now I often have some questions myself and life seeing them answered, as I see Rocket often answer questions that users post. However, it is very annoying for myself (and probably Rocket on some level) when scrolling through the pages of posts you see questions like the ones asking about hearing in his newest hotfix. The Patch Notes CLEARLY state it is being addressed. Or can I use my hatchet again? The Patch Notes CLEARLY state how that is being changed. Rocket is busting his ass to make this game better, and yet people ask the dumbest questions. I'm not saying all the questions are dumb, as I know on more than one occasion I have been frustrated with picking up certain items and then as a result I end up dropping others. Very annoying bug and Rocket said he would look into it in his reply. But please people just read what he posts before asking the most obvious question that can be literally answered by reading whats new, fixed, or reverted.
-
Haha, I Agree with you Oliva that's for sure. Like this guy and his team (who get left out a lot) are busting their ass off. Meanwhile though it is positive feedback in some sense he or whoever gets to skim through all the useless stuff to actually find important posts.

I kill for loot plain and simple. I try to be friendly, and will on occasion help another player if I see the opportunity. However when I am fresh spawned or depleted on gear and see a better backpack or weapon. Well then generally I will kill that player(Given the opportunity of course) to further my own selfish and personal cause. Though I don't generally hunt players ever I prefer to tuck to the woods and stay unnoticed.

Also, I believe the sound of crouch walking increased as while being in crouch I seemed to pull towns from quite a distance. However hold shift while crouched you slow down and your sound drops substantially. Was able to traverse through towns fairly easy as a result. However at a much slower pace but far more realistic as we are not ninjas we are carrying canned goods, weapons, ammo, and whatever else. I have no doubt we would make a considerable amount of noise.

@Jorden +1 interwebs fit so right for this thread

I must say, I do agree with you on some level. However, for this ONE man and his Small apparently elite team of total masochistic tryhards (As such you all have my supreme respect) I have never seen such efficient fixes and updates. I've played many games and many styles, never have I watched fixes and updates pour out at any hour of the day. That being said I am not calling the game perfect, but with the most recent patch I found myself having no issues. (Though idk if the dropped backpack bug still happens where you can't loot a backpack that you just dropped. If it hasn't would love to see that fixed) So as a final result ROCKET, it's time to kick back and have a beer or six with your team and celebrate your crazy accomplishments thus far. It's more than earned and I know my friends and I already play this game like it's a legit title on the market let alone a game still in Alpha. But if this is how you like to do business more power to you and a tip of my hat to you I love the frequency of fixes and responses. Just don't get burnt out pushing yourself too hard.

Since the newest patch I have dropped from multiple games from multiple servers. I load up and play fine, then about 5 min in I start getting the message that I haven't received anything for X amount of seconds. Was just curious if anyone else has experienced this. Prior to the most recent patch I played a solid chunk of today with no hiccups.

No weapon at start - Awesome Teamwork
Spikee187 replied to enaver's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The fact you quoted that quote and gave that response show that you didn't read the actually quote... No, you use to get shot at... people had guns, now no one has guns, now your not getting shot at... -
I must say, I love the concept of the game and its general direction. I also love difficult things, and generally play this game with some RL friends so I understand teamwork. However this patch it's too much at once. You reduce starting inventory, increase aggro range, and decrease the stealth of prone crawling all at once. Now I have been playing for some time now, and yet when I spawn I find this to be ridiculous. If I get caught by a Zombie that now apparently has infrared vision and my grandmas hearing aid. I get hit and start bleeding... great now I have to attempt to lose him... no easy feat, and on top of it all if I do survive I have already lost half my inventory at least and I am considerably injured. Let alone time wasted that my food and water need has increased with no way to immediately fix it. That aside this "Teamwork" everyone is referring to where is it? -First I understand that every meeting with other players is different. That being said tell me how I am suppose to use "Teamwork" with some other fresh player on the coast, we both don't have anything. What is one suppose to just be bait and let you run in and hope you find something useful? Meanwhile the "bait" may or may not be killed or seriously injured and for what random loot? Better yet, here I am fresh off the beach making my way to a town. I have nothing but starting items and that is blatantly apparent with my location, starter backpack, and no weapon to speak of. I come across another player. This one lucky enough to have a gun, long story short I was essentially executed with no way what so ever to defend myself. I could not even punch back -_-. and for what? my bandage or painkillers that I may still have had? If anything instead of working together the lack of weapon or starting item makes people more paranoid, and aggressive. They figure well that person may get something I need, kill him now so he can't take my precious items. I'm not saying this has been everyone's experience, however I know with the new patch I have died more on the coast than I ever did before. Worst of it all is at least before I was worth killing, I had food and water, and extra pistol mags. Now I am not worth killing and yet I continue to die along the coast, and get to suffer the terribly long (for whatever new reason) "Waiting for character to create" stage. I understand this is Alpha, and the point is to test these things. However it is because of this being Alpha that I am posting this as that is the point, for Alpha testing which is generally speaking bug fixes and player feedback.

Then how would that have anything to do with the "no gun at start" change? I use to always get shot on sight before this patch' date=' the matter what. This is the first ive never actually been shot at. Pretty easy for me to link them together. However, this is just my experience. Ofc its going to be different with everyone else. Could say the same about you. [/quote'] Hard to shoot at you with no weapon
