I received a complaint about my Day - SA Server "Highest Loot Allowed by Law - PVP - [The Party Crashers]
ghoulman replied to ThePartyCrasher's topic in Servers
It seems almost hypocritical that one server in particular would be singled out and have it's name changed when there are so many other servers on the server list which have a similar name or their name contains "high loot" or other rule violating terms but their names remain untouched. -
You draw the strangest conclusions based on the least amount of information. That's all I have to say.

It would be a more logical solution to simply increase the pathing of infected rather than remove a players ability to build a base there. It's not even a huge exploit, and is still exploitable even if barrels are unable to be placed there. You'd think they would make that entire area totally unavailable rather than preventing you from placing barrels there. Besides, there are countless other gameplay issues which should be prioritized.
-
The only way to find out is to go look for them ;) Honestly though, I'd imagine almost all of them have been found already. I have found that if you put enough bullets in a car (or crash enough) it will turn black and respawn as a fresh vehicle on reset. So, maybe you'll get lucky and find a car the was destroyed and respawned. Otherwise you're best off trying to find a server that just had a persistence wipe or that recently began being hosted. Your speculation about a cleanup feature doesn't make a lot of sense. Firstly, why would the devs arbitrarily despawn one group of barrels on one server? I realize that you're asking to see if anyone else's barrels were wiped, but If they felt the need to wipe barrels then why wouldn't they wipe all barrels on all hives? Secondly, does the option to only wipe a certain item from a server even exist? As far as I'm aware you would have to delete the persistence file to wipe any items, in which case all items would be wiped. It just sounds like someone is messing with you.
-
What are you asking? If people hide their vehicles or if they leave them out in the open? Or are you asking if they spawn hidden or out in the open? For the former, it's up to the individual. For the latter, vehicles spawn on roads and in towns. You sound almost paranoid, lol. Were your barrels poked with holes? Maybe someone who knew of your camp did so without realizing it would make them despawn, although I cannot fathom why. Maybe the person who took them simply found moving tents to be too much of a hassle or preferred to make stashes of barrels.

Thank you for clarifying this, the misinformation was driving me crazy. (and frankly i didn't even know the truth) Maintenance happens at 8:00am GMT, that's Greenich Mean Time ie) the time in England. The servers did go down.

Several weeks ago I put a Sedan + car tent on the west edge of the map, somewhat hidden in a patch of trees around a very sparsely wooded area. I don't know if I was being followed as I traveled there with the Sedan, or if they just heard the engine/gears shifting from that direction and went there to scope it out. At any rate, my hiding place was discovered. I noticed this when I logged back in and found all of the items I had stashed in that tent missing after a period of less than 12 hours since my logging out. Luckily the Sedan was there, albeit missing a tire. I found another tire and got the Sedan the hell out of there. It was not found until I abandoned it in the middle of a popular road after ruining the two front tires. I decided to return to that location to see if perhaps this(these) player(s) had chose to return to that location. By some great amount of misfortune on their end, they had left a Sedan there. I just want to thank those players for being lazy and returning their vehicle to a location which they new to the secrecy of which to be compromised. I would also like to add that I left a sedan in a treeline west of the NWAF for over a week and it was not found. Sure, it was a low pop server, but I found this sedan fully equipped on that server somewhere around Zelenogorsk. If you put your Sedan in a highly trafficked area or a known hiding place, it will be found. You can likely with some degree of comfortability hide your vehicle in almost PLAIN SIGHT and not have it found. Be clever, don't hide it in a remote area that is likely to be searched for hiding places. Be smart, don't hide it in a route or path that is likely to be traveled as someone is on their way to loot. Obviously there is no way to 100% hide something from being found, but with common sense you can realize that the majority of players will not explore certain treelines around popular areas. P.S. I know that no one ever found that Sedan because there were 2 car tents inside of it and at one point 1 car tent and a Winchester with a hunting scope. Maybe someone did come across it and decided to be nice and leave those items there. However, I believe the vast majority of players would not feel this way. P.P.S I KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN TO ME TONIGHT GODDAMMIT. I logged on to look for one heli and the server went down for maintenance just as I was approaching the heli. It had a smershvest. I know I'm already wearing one, BUT ARE YOU KIDDING ME CTHULU, LORD OF DAYZ? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I was so close ;_; :( http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=604616261 P.P.P.S. WOW OK THEN. I logged back into the same server in hopes of finding that heli crash in its same location. IT WAS THERE. BUT GUESS WHAT? ALL THE FRIGGIN' LOOT HAD DESPAWNED. CONCLUSION: Helis persist through resets but their loot does not. WHY CTHULU WHYYYYYY http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/359527686128630671/D205F4351A07D4E262F2240DA75576B2C12399F5/ Guess I'll go sacrifice my smersh vest to Devil's Castle ;_;

Do YOU want to find helicopter crash sites? Do you think it's a waste of time, or that you will inevitably check every spawn on the map and come up dry? For only 12 easy payments of $999.99 you too can learn how to find heli-crashes like a pro! Just watch our video for proof! It's easy as pie! (Kappa, I didn't make this video) I found 3 within an hour today on this route. FAL and a VSS and an AUG :)

I have a base on your server and am just curious of what reason it was taken offline for. Hopefully it will come back online so I can move it to a more reliable server EDIT: It probably just hasn't come back online yet after today's maintenance. I forgot to consider the maintenance because it went down a fair amount of time before the other servers started to go down as well. All of them seem to not have come back yet so I will re-edit this post shortly.. EDIT 2: Yeah it was the shard going down before almost every other server. My bad. <3 -
You must camp the ATC all day. You scum! Haha, just kidding. You can report any bugs here: https://feedback.dayz.com/ Posting vaguely and assuming the glitch is already known and assuming that the Devs will scroll through this entire thread to find any shreds of evidence of a glitch is simply unhelpful. You didn't even specify what the glitch is. That being said, please report it on the feedback tracker I linked. Maybe no one has posted it yet or it's not a very commonly known glitch. All posts on the feedback tracker go directly to the devs. LOL what a complete tool that guy must be IRL. Please report that server for bAdmin abuse. Even though you are allowed to restart Public and Private hives as often as you like, I'm sure that they would consider restarting the server after death to prevent actual character loss to be abuse. I guess Christmas is over Q_Q No more decorated pine trees

In all honesty my final statement was really arrogant. I was expressing mainly that it frustrates me how people don't check their facts or look for information. I'm kind of obsessive in that regard though so maybe it's just me who looks for all the new details. Despite the poor execution of my help, you cannot deny that the information was useful.

For the reasons you mentioned, the new UI is simply impractical due to the limitations of obtaining gear in a combat scenario (imagine you're pinned down in PD or something and need to swap gear quickly or pull items off your dead friend so they don't despawn while he travels back to you). Also, I feel it's too great a hindrance to have the health/hunger/thirst/etc bars invisible. I guess it's just my perfectionist preference to see exactly what levels my bars are at. It's impractical to switch to the new UI for changing wheels, and it's somewhat inefficient in terms of inventory space to keep the tools on you. Pick your poison I guess. In the future I believe we can expect to HAVE to spend those four inventory slots if we're dealing with vehicles since I imagine this newUI exploit will be fixed eventually. Uh-oh here comes a new UI/old UI preference debate similar to the KOS/no KOS debate in that it's a matter of opinion and utterly useless to debate... "I think most are aware of the wrenches for removing the wheels and tires with old UI. I just don't think you can add a spare wheel to the 4x4, unless you use the new UI; please correct me, if I'm wrong." I don't know about adding a spare tire to the Lada, never tested it myself. I was just informing the gentleman I replied to that he was incorrect - he doesn't HAVE to switch to the new UI to manipulate parts. I imagine there are many people in the same boat as him.

This is incorrect. There's so much misinformation in the community smh... Lug wrenches will allow you to remove wheels in the old UI. To remove spark plugs/batteries simply look under the hood and you will see an icon for removing/adding the item. To manipulate doors/hoods you need the regular wrench. Of course, if you don't want to carry a lug wrench the new UI is a very handy tool. I do so much testing and research when a new patch comes out so that I know how everything works. Surprises me that so many people choose to live in the dark. 0.59 vehicles guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/3yhm2i/psa_vehicle_manual/ 0.59 general information/tips: https://steamcommunity.com/app/221100/discussions/0/527273983046897257/

There are no heli crashes in cherno... Typo because it's late? http://www.izurvive.com/#c=-75;-28;5 -- 1.0 in 2016? I'll continue to laugh my ass off at that notion until I see it. No way, Jose. Does anyone know the size of the dev team? -- Add steam to your list of exceptions... Unless the steam servers were hacked and a viral update was uploaded then that is a false positive. I remember an instance from around 2011 when Apple computers received a Java update that was in fact a virus. I believe this is the virus but perhaps I'm mistaken since it was so long ago: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trojan_BackDoor.Flashback
