I was just playing with some friends, they were on different servers, all seem to have been wiped. Is this fixable or should we just start over? Or leave playing for a bit?

Some really cool stories here guys, thanks. I am just approaching 200 hours played now and gotta say, the interaction with people amazes me, so many people acting friendly that aren't really friendly, others that simply bolt when they see or hear you, taking up a safe position when you hear those footsteps outside the building your looting, its all so exciting! I met with a guy last night that I had been chatting with through the forums, little break down in comms as english is not his first language, my heart was going ten to the dozen as I was trying to talk in game whilst asking my other group guy to back me up, the whole time with my AK pointed at this guy, his hands raised in submission, was a few seconds away from shooting him when I realised it was the guy I was supposed to be meeting lol.

Some really nice shots there man and I have to agree with Durrhunter, jealous much lol

I am still relatively new to the game but so far I have seen chickens and a goat, seems to be the further north you go the more you will find them, from my experience anyway. If you fancy a change to beans then you can always fish, one of my favourite things to do in DayZ at the moment lol.

So I was thinking of an idea for sniping and/or just staying concealed really, and was wondering about digging in where you could maybe use camo netting, a stick or two and a shovel and dig a small hole to hide. Thoughts?

Hey guys, I am a complete noob when it comes to DayZ and to PC gaming to be honest, I am a PlayStation man usually (sorry I know console peeps are...hated lol) but I came across DayZ when looking at new games coming out for the PlayStation, and when I found out it was already out for PC I had to give it a try! I just wish I had heard about it years ago, sounds like the type of game I have been wanting for so long. Anyway I am really looking forward to getting stuck in, making some friends and hopefully helping out the community too and of course, surviving!

Wow this is so cool! I am off to try and make a fire and do a spot of fishing, so much cool stuff in this game!

Thanks guys, it was a public server but I logged straight out, left it a few minutes and went back in and hey presto, I was back! Is there many pros/cons to private servers? Just so I know for the future.

Scratch that, just logged in and my character is reset, time to scavenge again lol

Lol thanks Nicko, I am yet to come across another player as of yet although someone did take a pot shot at me yesterday I just returned fire and fled lol but it is very exciting! Got chased through a town by a couple of zombies and didn't know what to do so I just jumped in the sea, lost my pistol but hey...I am still alive! I am geared up ok now I think, so ready for my first proper fire fight!

Sent you a friend request buddy. I lasted about 8 hours, not sure if that is good or not but I was happy with it lol, finally dehydrated badly and couldn't really see, lucky zombie got me. Definitely looking to party up now as it is pretty tough going solo.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the advice guys. I finally got my resolution sorted after about an hour just been scavenging, found a tin of beans but before I could open them I fell unconscious lol.

They could make it in-ear plugs, we used them at work, hardly noticeable :)
