    Do Tents Work?

Here's the issues I'm having with tents as of 1.7.1.5 (along with my opinions & suggestions): Tents are critical for solo players or large groups playing together alike. For our large group, keeping things organized and stocked is important, and required for our survival. We go on several scavenging raids/missions per day, with 6+ people and 2+ vehicles with large load capacity. Coming back to camp and dealing with all issues (described below) is destroying our ability to maintain a successful camp. We had really hoped that the 1.7.1.5 tent wipe would give us a fresh start with our camps, but it's made it worse. 1) Ten duping. Still the same as 1.7.1.4 ... right click/left click spam to place it, it places XX tents all stacked up on top of each other, sometimes overlapping but mostly just being stacked in the exact same spot. Use scroll wheel to "Pack Tent" XX times and now you have XX tents layin' on the ground. 2) Vanishing Items. Server restarts cause our 20'ish tents to vanish all items inside (full or not). Once in a while we have a tent or two that will retain the items, but rare. 3) Tent Placement. A) Still a game of "nudge left/right, place tent, nudge, place, nudge, place, etc". I do not like this game :) Can we make these tents easier to place (especially around trees - see B) B) Placing too close/near to trees (if the tree is mostly covered by low overhang for instance) will cause the tent to be inaccessible. Is the tree overhang blocking my action abilities? C) As mentioned in #1, the tents overlap if you accidentally clicked "Place Tent" one too many times. Obvious issues here :) 4) Tent Overflow. A) Upon being filled, items would spill out onto the ground. Now our tents eats the item and spits out air. Once in a while it will properly drop the item on the ground, or sometimes it spits the item out about 20 or 30 meters away from the tent, but mostly it just eats the item(s). B) We can see how many spots are available when opening our packs, why not tents? I understand there are multiple factors for tent storage (weapon slots/utils, backpacks, general items, etc), but a simple counter line of some kind at the top of your gear UI (similar spot as backpack counter) would be fine, not to mention I would know not to add more stuff to it in case overflow/spilling wasn't working properly (like now). Ex: Tent (Weps 10/10 | Packs 5/5 | Other 50/50) <-- this can be shortened, i'm sure... ex: Tent (W 10/10 | P 5/5 | O 50/50) 5) Tent Packing or Flattening. These both work great... until the server is restarted :\ Then the tents which have been packed or flattened (who doesn't love to play monster truck with tents?) now magically reappear, minus items inside, of course. Some of us hardcore campers like to keep our camps tidy... its hard to do that when you can't take tents down permanently. Not to mention how the map becomes quite cluttered with tent cities after just a week or two. I can't shake the feeling I had 6 or 7 items to cover, but 5 will do for now :)

    Crazy Hunter

I was the partner who was there, shooting this guy in the head with a DMR repeatedly for what felt like an hour or so. We have 3 vehicles and about 20 tents, which he ended up finding (not sure how). I know many of you might not care about "campers" like us who complain when our camp is compromised, but this is beyond that... this is about cheaters. Ban this guy, please. Even so, you might want to consider a group of people in a town, 1 of them camping in a hiding spot with the map open and simply telling the rest of his group (via vent/ts/mumble) what is going on. They could lock down the entire area just because of the stupid map blips... kinda silly. I would like to see them lock down the area because of their great positioning and awareness skills, not a map blip. If I ran into a town and saw a group of guys locking it down, I would like to either A) Try to be real sneaky and grab n' run what I came for or B) silently sneak around and take them out 1 by 1 with my mp5sd without alarming the rest of them of my position. The map ruins any chances of entering/exiting a pvp situation with groups. TLDR: No matter how you slice it, it can be harmful to a hardcore experience.

What is this? Like the in-game map shows blips where people are at? EDIT: Our entire squad was really happy to see another hardcore ruleset server, but if you can see folks on the map it kinda takes away from the hardcore ruleset. I'd rather play on a server with CH/3DP enabled than have blips on a map. Blips on the map make it way too easy (I mean to kill others or be killed equally). Darn... was hoping we finally found a good local server with hardcore rules that is active in the community :(
  6. @karlnp: We used to play on Vancouver 2 (LEM) for the longest time, but its been down now for weeks so we took our entire group to Seattle 3 (which has now been down for 8 hours). I see the TARKOVSKY (US 41 Seattle 12), but I don't see the LEM (which is the one we like because of the hardcore ruleset) What is the new name of the LEM server? Any idea on why it isn't showing on the server list?
  7. server seems to be offline now since 3am today (8 hours downtime?)... any news??

    US 35 (seattle 3) d#mnd hackers

After I respawned from him doing a machine gun strafe on me (after the truck was blown up) ... he apparently has decided to put jets upside down on the coast (and they are loud as hell :P) [attachment=1058]
  9. We could really use some administration on this server. The last hacker event (jet flying around) took out our entire squad and countless hours of work. Link to my original rant: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=13925

Ya, our truck had about 3 tents worth of stuff we had collected over the entire day (about 5 hours) ... we tried to outrun the jet when it started carpet bombing us, but he eventually just crashed it into us. Pretty pissed. Took us a week to get that cargo truck up and running, and tons of gear for our entire squad (about 8 people's stuff). Any chance for a rollback? We have screenshots of the jet and our truck in a ball of fire if it will help: [attachment=1056] [attachment=1057]
