    Stable Update 1.06

But you (and by that I mean, the people making decisions regarding what can and can't be communicated to the community) understand why these kinds of responses are frustrating for the community, right? Particularly with the lack of results in terms of stability, with the same issues plaguing this game that have plagued it for literally years? It creates the impression that this game is not a priority for Bohemia Interactive, and that DayZ is simply running on fumes until the plug is pulled. We don't have any clue what's causing the issues, if the Dev Team knows, what is being done to fix it, what has worked, what hasn't, or how many people are still even working on the game. The only consistent thing we can see from the community side is that server performance is generally, god awful. "We are working on it" only gets you so far. I don't think this is a lie necessarily, but it's just...hard to have any faith that these issues will be fixed, and we will get any meaningful content updates in the future, when core functionality is still a massive issue.

    Stable Update 1.06

The inventory desync issue has been in the game for close to a year now. It should have been resolved before "release", among several other things. I really doubt it's ever going to be fixed at this point. It is very difficult to have confidence that these kinds of things (or anything else) will be fixed by vague statements such as, "we are working on it". It's pretty clear at this point that the game is being run by a skeleton crew, and community management is told to say very little beyond "we are working on it, don't worry, we will have fix" etc. I don't blame Greensek or The Dev Team personally, but it's pretty clear this game is not a priority for BI anymore and the progress on bug fixes, content, along with the sparse communication don't do much to dissuade that thinking. Don't be surprised if 2020 is the last year of content development for this game. The writing has been on the wall for a while now.

    Moving into 2020

Just lost a character that had been alive for about a month while backing a car out of a car tent because cars in this game still don't fucking work. Absolutely pathetic that this still happens. I know that. My fault for thinking otherwise. Don't drive cars in this game, don't build bases, don't do this, don't do that. I had a good run, but I think this was finally it for me. Sucks that after all this time, DayZ is still in this state. It's disappointing, frustrating, and inexcusable. No point in waiting to see what 2020 brings. I know the answer. I've enjoyed my time with it over the years, but it finally hit me that it's really never going to get any better. Too many broken promises, too much "potential" for things that this Dev Team is either unwilling to, or simply incapable of delivering. I would not be surprised if DayZ gets abandoned sometime this year, leaving it up to the "community" to the finish; hope ARMA 4 is worth the backlash, BI. I am tired of what passes for community management. Tired of saying the phrase "it's desynced" 500 times every play session. Tired of the constant lack of communication. Tired of the constant game breaking bugs. Tired of the lack of promised features. Tired of the endless exploits and cheats. i've made far too many excuses these things, but I think this was just one pointless death too many. I'm sure the people working on it are busting their asses, but, it's just too little too late at this point. Later, DayZ. It's been fun, except when it hasn't.

    Moving into 2020

Thanks for the heads up. Looking forward to seeing what 2020 has in store. Aside from the obvious bug fixes, performance tweaks, and general house keeping (cars in general need a lot of love) that really needs to gets done, I really hope base building gets some much needed improvements down the line next year. This is a key end game feature that's pretty much pointless at the moment If The Dev team is as yet still unaware of it, I really urge you to check out @Asmondian's suggestion thread on this topic. It's incredibly well thought out and detailed, and exactly the kind of long term quality of life changes that this game needs to keep thriving. @Tom_48_97 @Greensek @ImpulZ

    Stable Update 1.06

Cars aren't getting "fixed" anytime soon. This is why there is never a response about them. Cars themselves are mostly fine. It's the server performance that needs work, because cars are directly tied to it and the official servers are generally dog shit in terms of performance. If you've ever played the game in offline mode, you can see this first hand. The only way cars are ever getting "fixed" is it they get moved client side instead of server side, or the quality of the official servers gets a massive improvement, and the former is most likely impossible and the latter is simply not likely anytime soon. It absolutely sucks, and it's frustrating as hell, but don't expect any kind of clear update or fix that says "Cars work now", cause it simply won't happen. The game is very much hamstrung by decisions made early in development in this regard and it's becoming very clear that those issues are going to be with this game for a long time.

    Experimental Update 1.06

That wasn't a bug. Item health was re-balanced, and affected items retroactively.

Am I the only one not finding ARs?

Honestly there are few really easy solutions to this problem. 1. Make assault rifles and most guns unable to be buried. This might seem harsh, but there are countless ways to store them at a base. Tents and barrels are perfect for these larger items and can't be buried, but still allow players to store things. 2. Crates should be harder to build. With a box of nails and an axe, I can build 7 crates in less than five minutes. Given how powerful they are, and how easy they are to hide, this seems really overpowered. The recipe of 2 planks and 10 nails is far too low. Something like 10 planks and a box of nails, or increasing the time it takes to craft them, would balance this quite a bit. 3. Buried Stashes Should Only Last 7 Days. I said this above, but this is really the big one. 45 days is just way too long, and really limits both incentive to check on your base, and the chances that anything buried will cycle back into the CLE. If you aren't checking on your stashes in 7 days, you probably aren't checking on them at all. These, coupled with duping fixes and the various tent and apartment exploit fixes, the loot economy of this game would bounce back drastically. These of course are just micro problems with the game as a whole. Server performance needs to be the top priority, as its particularly awful on Livonia right now, but this stuff would definitely help. @Greensek

Very helpful addition to the conversation.

Am I the only one not finding ARs?

Stashes are a good idea in theory but there has to be some kind of balance to it. It's so easy to just lose track of or hide stashes no one will ever find. I can only imagine how many ARs and NVGs are just buried, never to be heard from again. 45 days for buried items is far too long. It should be 7 days tops. If you aren't interacting with your stashes every 7 days, chances are, you aren't interacting with them at all. Players shouldn't be able to find an M4, drop it a random crate (which is far too easy to make given how powerful it is) and most likely still have access to it a month and some change later, especially if that item isn't going to spawn on the map now.

Am I the only one not finding ARs?

This is much bigger problem on consoles, with pretty much every server not spawning higher end loot like ARs. There is a massive problem with duped loot on Chernarus, particularly in the Apartment buildings near Balota which are full of conventionally accessible rooms that can be glitched into using a number of exploits, and are often used to store tents and crates loaded with ARs. Been playing on Xbox for about 3 months now, on multiple servers and military bases only ever spawn AKus, SKS, and SKGs. Wasn't until I started finding the apartments full of duped and glitched gear that I realized why. I don't know if 1.06 addressed any of these exploits, especially the duping one, but it's a HUGE reason why having one character for both Chernarus and Livonia is a bad decision. Scores of players in Chernarus have an unfair advantage because of these glitched out stashes in Chernarus that they can endlessly pull high end gear from. It's destroyed the loot economy of this game.

    Alt accounts

Alts accounts are garbage exploit that completely fucks this game's loot economy, but I don't really know how BI can get around it. It's something built into Xbox Live. As far as the console and Live service is concerned, the "Alt" could be a completely different user.
  14. I've heard chatter that characters and loot existing on Chernarus will transfer over to Livonia when it releases; is this true, or will characters start fresh on Livonia? Personally, I REALLY hope we get fresh characters on the new map and that Chernarus and Livonia are two separate hives. It seems like the fastest way to devolve gameplay on Livonia into a north spawn death match is for characters to start fully geared, rather than starting everyone on equal footing. But curious what the final word is or what's planned. Thanks y'all! @ImpulZ @Greensek @Tom_48_97

    DayZ Livonia is OUT NOW

Easy mode. Bingo. And unless they did some kind of fixes for all of the duped loot, it's going to be even worse.

    DayZ Livonia is OUT NOW

Bringing this comment in from reddit, because I want to make sure @Greensek sees it, but How are players going to worry about "succumbing to the harsh environment of Livonia" when you can just bring your heavily geared character over from Chernarus? How is this in anyway a good decision for the health of this map? What's even the point? Edit: And it probably won't mean a damn thing, but for what it's worth, especially playing primarily on console these days, this has made the DLC an easy pass for me. And I was completely on board with it before this, DayZ warts and all. The loot economy is already completely borked on Xbox; not only does this not fix it, but it exacerbates the problem. Very disappointing.

Dev Question about Livonia; Fresh Characters?

I got my answer. "Server Situation The Game Update 1.06 won't require any character nor storage (map items) wipes, your gear will remain. On official servers, you will be able to join Chernarus and Livonia servers with the same character. " Sucks, man. The "struggle to survive" on Livonia is going to be completely useless. What's the point? You can just gear up at your base on Chernarus, or anywhere else, and head on over to Livonia, (which isn't even counting the massive duping problems on Consoles where people have tons of gear on them and completely screw up the loot economy) and Livonia is just going to turn into Spawn Deathmatch on Day One. The two maps should be separate hives. Transferring your character over is a bad, bad, bad, decision.

Dev Question about Livonia; Fresh Characters?

Right, but I was thinking more on official servers, since console players don't have option on official channels
  19. If you aren't aware, players can place either two car tents next to either with the entrances facing each other to create an impenetrable loot stash, unless you have a car apparently, and then you can glitch inside. Or, players can place a car tent backwards against a shed, and it becomes impossible to enter from the outside. There may be other ways to glitch inside, but I have no idea how. These are showing up more and more on the coast, and all it does it make the coast unplayable, as a few players can stock up on endless military gear on the coast, and it completely screws up the loot economy. What's the point of building a base with planks and logs that can just be destroyed in 2 minutes with minimal effort, when players can just create impenetrable fortresses with a single tent and store as much loot as they want? I've made note of this on the feedback tracker, as have many others, so it's not exactly an unknown thing at this point. This HAS to be addressed in 1.06 if not sooner. It is game breaking. @ImpulZ @Greensek @Tom_48_97
  20. Awesome, thank you! I couldn't get a good screen shot loaded up, hope this helps.
  21. There's no way that feature is working as intended. It's an exploit, plain and simple. That said, I don't blame anyone for using it, giving the relative weakness of bases, but it's still an exploit, it still forks up the game's loot tables and economy, and it still needs to be fixed, and don't expect your loot to stay there forever just because you were "clever" enough to take advantage of a well known flaw.

    Experimental Update 1.06

The DayZ Devs have no control over what Xbox Insider posted by mistake, and stated repeatedly that it was a mistake on the part of Xbox. Greensek addressed it as such in this thread. "We never announced a date in the first place, Xbox did it by mistake and it was not accurate as you can notice. People thought this was some kind of "leak", even though we have been saying it was not correct. Now we have a lot of players saying that we lied and that we missed the release date. From now on, please use our official channels of communication to avoid any confusion. " Not really sure what else you'd like them to do? Text you personally? Anyone confused or angry about this is just looking for an excuse to be mad and needs to stop being such an entitled pissbaby. Shouldn't the lack of pricing info have also tipped you off? When Livonia is going to be released, The Devs will let us know. It's not that fucking hard. You aren't going to miss the date, and if you planned a vacation or time off around it before it was confirmed by BI, well, you're just kind of a dumbass.

    Experimental Update 1.06

Xbox Insider is not Bohemia, and Bohemia has said repeatedly, "we don't have a date yet" Don't understand why this is so hard for people. And really, what is the "utter confusion"...? The DLC is either out, or it isn't. Are you fumbling around in the dark unable to dress and feed yourself because the DLC isn't out on the date you thought it was? Are you going to die from a heart attack? You just have to...wait longer than you thought. That's it. Wow. I think we will be fine.
