    Console Update 1.10

Are you wearing a helmet or mask in game? edit: disregard i misread

    Stable Update 1.10

The initial "hunger" you saw when first booting up 1.10 is because the hunger meter was now accurately reflecting what your hunger was actually at. Before 1.10, the apple would fill up, but you would still have a ton of "reserve" space to go before it was "full". The updated simply allowed the UI to better reflect what it took to get full. edit: To better put that in perspective, your full energy reserves are 20,000. A piece of fat, the most calorie filled thing in the game, can net you, at most, 1,575 calories.

    Stable Update 1.10

The "steaks" are an just an abstraction to represent "meat". You aren't eating 9 full sized steaks; you're just eating 9 pieces of "meat." And in game, often times when you skin and cut up and an animal, the "meat" you yield aren't even completely full. At the end of the day, for as much as DayZ strives for realism and simulation, it's still just a video game and some stuff is going to be prone to video game conventions and practicality. There are plenty things about DayZ that are "silly" when you start breaking them down. I think a better way around this issue is UI feedback that is much clearer about what is happening.

    Stable Update 1.10

The game is not nearly as unstable or broken as you are making it out to be, but that's besides the point. You're typing paragraphs and paragraphs, completely wasting your time and missing the point entirely. I don't think anyone, especially not me, said the game didn't have issues. Problems with DayZ's development and stability do not warrant personal attacks on The Dev Team. Full stop. You can try to justify it or rationalize it anyway you want, but that was the original point. You're ranting on about something that isn't even relevant to the issue.

    Stable Update 1.10

Why keep playing the game if it's so broken and busted and you hate it so much, or why even hang around the forums then? I don't swoop into Madden 2020 forums and start complaining about busted features for a game I don't enjoy. There's a difference between "defending the game" and calling someone out for referring to The Dev team "as idiots" as the wrong way to vent your frustrations. I've levied PLENTY of criticisms and frustrations about The Dev Team and DayZ over the years, but insults are not the way to go about doing it. It's childish and in bad faith. That kind of behavior isn't interested in seeing DayZ improve, it's only interested in tearing people down. The segment of people that hang around here and the subreddit only to endlessly bash the people that work on the game and the people that enjoy DayZ is truly, truly, exhausting. Any valid criticism or point you make goes out the window the second you start with insulting the people working on the game, full stop. It's not constructive or necessary, and it happens way too much on these forums and to a lesser extend the subreddit. And really, nothing that person said was correct anyway. The food system works fine. It's been addressed. There was a better way to voice that concern than how it was handled. I'm mainly just tired of seeing that stuff on these forums. That's not why I or anyone else comes here.

    Stable Update 1.10

I don’t know why but this kind of comment in particular really pisses me the fuck off. Get absolutely fucked dude. There’s no reason to jump on and start calling The Devs idiots simply because you disagree or don’t understand how a feature is implemented. If you really wanted to be constructive about it, you could have simply said “hey is this a bug? How accurate is UI feedback to your hunger actual level? Maybe a percentage would make it more clear how full you are?” There are plenty of valid frustrations and complaints to be levied at DayZ but jumping on the forums with some piss poor analogy and insulting the people working on the game is not the right way to do it. You sound like a whiny entitled prick. Act like a fucking adult and not a small child. It’s a god damn video game. Leave the insults out of it, and if it really bothers you that much, don’t fucking play it, and stay off the forums. There has to be better things you could be doing with your time.

    Stable Update 1.10

This usually seems to happen when the server is performing terribly.

    Stable Update 1.10

Out of curiosity, are you able to speak as to what potential options are being explored in terms of vehicle performance improvements? It's been an ongoing problem for so long, I think a lot of us are just curious as to how The Dev Team views the problem internally and what ideas are on deck for improving it.

    1.10. Release date Announcement

please film you doing this and get back to us
  11. I played the latest EXP build on Console yesterday, had a surprisingly really good experience with the new Truck. Drove it around Chernarus for about 2 hours, almost zero hiccups, (aside from FPS drops, but that's a given on console) and had absolutely zero problems getting up and down even the most vicious hills, which was amazing to see and super encouraging. The other huge change I noticed, and this might only be related to the Truck, but it seemed like the collision damage was turned off entirely. I tested it by ramming into whatever I could find and while normally even the slightest bump would turn the car into dust, this thing was a tank, and I hope this change extends into other cars when this goes to stable. Server I was on was about half full, but it was just so surprisingly smooth. I don't know if something changed or if I had just good luck, but it was very encouraging.
  12. For me, the high cost of death in this game, coupled with the time investment it takes to find a car and get one running, makes vehicles too risky a proposition for what is supposed to be a game out of Alpha. I've had good experiences with cars, but just as many bad ones, and if people are complaining, it's because it's a fundamental end-game feature of the game that not only doesn't work reliably, it could potentially completely impede your progress. My only hope is that 2021 yields huge performance strides towards vehicles, alongside new content.
  13. Vehicle performance has been a problem for YEARS. I don't think it's for lack of trying, but that it's still such a huge issue the total lack of progress on that front gives the impression that it is not something that can or will be tackled without considerable effort or resources which might not be possible. I don't think the Dev Team "doesn't care", but it's just hard to be positive about something that has been fundamentally broken with this experience since vehicles were first introduced into the Stand Alone.
  14. I didn't realize how bad duping still was in the console version of this game. I found an absolutely insane mega-base on an official server on the stable branch on Xbox and it just kind of broke the game for me. Just dozens and dozens and dozens of walls and materials that were in no way built just by looting. If people can dupe building materials that easier, what else are they duping? Is the Dev Team really aware of how bad this problem is on consoles? Are there plans to do anything about it? Is it even a concern? It completely ruins the loot economy and sense of progress in this game. There's honestly no incentive to do anything but dupe. Why spend hours building and looting when someone can just exploit the game and have hundreds of whatever they need with little effort? It's incredibly frustrating. It shouldn't be like this. @ImpulZ
  15. Cars and server performance are a problem but you can't ever expect the Experimental Branch to be stable. It's called "Experimental" for a reason.
  16. That's my point though. If that's what it takes to solve the problem, it needs to be done. Right now, it's just a patchwork half measures, and something has got to give. Keeping it as is can't just be the solution.
  17. I understand what y'all are saying, but it's still not excusable, especially at this point in the game's life cycle. It's a core functionality and feature of the game. It should work, and it should be expected to work, especially on vanilla servers. It's not like console players or new players in general are given some kind of handbook before hopping into a car that explains "well this might work ok but if the server is overloaded, watch out, buddy!" The time investment it takes to get a car going, coupled with the permadeath nature of this game, means getting into one shouldn't be a gamble that you might lose all of the progress you've made because of some unseen factors that are completely out of your control. Yes, posting a generic car video that's bouncing around is low effort, old, and annoying, because, yes, we get it, cars in DayZ aren't great, old news, but still, the underlying point remains. It shouldn't be a crap shoot, it should just work. Posting your own video saying "see it works sometimes!" doesn't matter; it's relative to the experience of the player. That it happens enough that you can easily find such videos is telling. Spending hours to get one working only to unexpectedly die because the car flies up into the air is the kind of thing that will turn someone off of this game forever. It's damaging to the long term health of this game, to the potential to expand and maintain its player base, and to long time players that have every reason to expect a stable experience when playing the base game. It doesn't matter why it happens, it doesn't matter what kind of work arounds we as players find to get around it, it only matters that it doesn't work as intended, and it shouldn't be that way. Back when Eugen was on the team, I remember he used to always say something to the effect of, "We can only guarantee the base game", but even now, cars are still this x-factor that offer no such guarantee. Driving shouldn't be so wonky and risky just because "a lot of people are playing". There's no excuse for it. There might be plenty of reasons for it. But it doesn't excuse it. And if vehicles can't work as intended nearly 100 percent of the time, frankly they shouldn't even be in the game.
  18. I''l be damned. I stopped using the wheel in EXP and I haven't had a single problem with items getting stuck in hands.
  19. yes all pc content will come to consoles
  20. My understanding is that the insulation rating doesn't inherently make or keep you instantly warm; it only impacts the length of time and quality of the insulation bonus you get from standing near a fire. Clothing with "Best" hold the bonus much longer, keeping you warmer longer once you're warm. Clothes with Best insulation will do a better job of keeping you out of the blue when it's dry without a fire, but it's still relative to the temperature of the area. If you're in an area that's much colder than that threshold, you're still going to need a fire. The idea seems to be that you can't just always "Set and Forget" by wearing the best clothes, unless you're in a relatively warmer area of the map.

will the v3s truck be coming to ps4?

Yes. Every update that hits the EXP branch will also hit consoles when it goes to stable.
  22. Let's hope! I definitely really enjoyed the longer loot times; the world felt more lived in. But maybe this will be better for overall gameplay balance.
  23. "lifetime values lowered from 48 (24) to 8 (4) hours" Good lord this change is awful.
  24. Yeah it's insanely bad right now. I don't understand how after this long this is still a problem and there's been zero comment on it.
  25. This update is great, but are we EVER going to get a fix for item desync on consoles? I can't believe it's still happening.
