Xbox Experimental Update 1.10 (Changelog)
thepoey replied to ImpulZ's topic in Xbox Experimental Updates
I didn't realize how bad duping still was in the console version of this game. I found an absolutely insane mega-base on an official server on the stable branch on Xbox and it just kind of broke the game for me. Just dozens and dozens and dozens of walls and materials that were in no way built just by looting. If people can dupe building materials that easier, what else are they duping? Is the Dev Team really aware of how bad this problem is on consoles? Are there plans to do anything about it? Is it even a concern? It completely ruins the loot economy and sense of progress in this game. There's honestly no incentive to do anything but dupe. Why spend hours building and looting when someone can just exploit the game and have hundreds of whatever they need with little effort? It's incredibly frustrating. It shouldn't be like this. @ImpulZ -

I''l be damned. I stopped using the wheel in EXP and I haven't had a single problem with items getting stuck in hands. -

Xbox Experimental Update 1.10 (Changelog)
thepoey replied to ImpulZ's topic in Xbox Experimental Updates
Yeah it's insanely bad right now. I don't understand how after this long this is still a problem and there's been zero comment on it. -
Why is item desync STILL happening on consoles? This problem is potentially game breaking at times, and I can't believe it's still an issue. It's a death sentence in a fire fight or with more than one zombie around. I shouldn't have to relog every time the server gets confused about what is in my hand, especially with how often you have to switch what you are holding in this game. @ImpulZ

This has been a huge problem for months now on consoles. It ABSOLUTELY has to get resolved before 1.08 can hit consoles outside of the EXP branch. It is still happening on EXP branch on Xbox. It also happens outside of containers as well. Items either don;t appear for other players, or can't be picked up off the ground, or from a container. @jakub_bohemia

so you don't actually know, got it

Any truth to this post on reddit? @Greensek
-
It's stuff in the game files, it's just not active in the loot tables. But you can't alter it's functionality or anything.
-
Still doesn't address any of the problems with duping, server performance, or loot economy.
-
Yeah, just saw a video this morning on the feedback tracker of how people are doing it. It's ridiculous that it's still a problem. The loot economy on consoles is completely ruined. Almost no reason to play or engage in PVP when people can just dupe endless rare gear and have 15 alts waiting in the wings. @Greensek
-
It's much darker on 1st person only servers
-
Latest hot fix seems to have addressed the most pressing bugs, particularly the crashes, but items are still getting stuck in containers, and at least on Xbox One, based on the numerous party chat invites I get from strangers claiming they can dupe anything, duping is potentially still a huge problem. Obviously they could be BS, but it still happens pretty frequently, even in the the past few hours.

Mags and inventory, along with item in hand still gets desynced. It's not nearly as prevalent as it used to be, but can confirm it is still happening. Almost died to a pack of wolves because my bandages were desynced. Managed to get indoors, logged and relogged, mysteriously had a hammer in my hand.
-
not the choice of words i would have used, but can confirm both of these things happen. Barbwire is still borked, seemingly when opening and closing doors, and inventory is definitely better but swapping still screws it up. @Greensek
-
They did not. They only mentioned that admins would have more control over server loot rate and logs.
-
Probably never. Not up to BI.
-
i would not put money on it

Just lost a character that had been alive for about a month while backing a car out of a car tent because cars in this game still don't fucking work. Absolutely pathetic that this still happens. I know that. My fault for thinking otherwise. Don't drive cars in this game, don't build bases, don't do this, don't do that. I had a good run, but I think this was finally it for me. Sucks that after all this time, DayZ is still in this state. It's disappointing, frustrating, and inexcusable. No point in waiting to see what 2020 brings. I know the answer. I've enjoyed my time with it over the years, but it finally hit me that it's really never going to get any better. Too many broken promises, too much "potential" for things that this Dev Team is either unwilling to, or simply incapable of delivering. I would not be surprised if DayZ gets abandoned sometime this year, leaving it up to the "community" to the finish; hope ARMA 4 is worth the backlash, BI. I am tired of what passes for community management. Tired of saying the phrase "it's desynced" 500 times every play session. Tired of the constant lack of communication. Tired of the constant game breaking bugs. Tired of the lack of promised features. Tired of the endless exploits and cheats. i've made far too many excuses these things, but I think this was just one pointless death too many. I'm sure the people working on it are busting their asses, but, it's just too little too late at this point. Later, DayZ. It's been fun, except when it hasn't.

Thanks for the heads up. Looking forward to seeing what 2020 has in store. Aside from the obvious bug fixes, performance tweaks, and general house keeping (cars in general need a lot of love) that really needs to gets done, I really hope base building gets some much needed improvements down the line next year. This is a key end game feature that's pretty much pointless at the moment If The Dev team is as yet still unaware of it, I really urge you to check out @Asmondian's suggestion thread on this topic. It's incredibly well thought out and detailed, and exactly the kind of long term quality of life changes that this game needs to keep thriving. @Tom_48_97 @Greensek @ImpulZ

Honestly there are few really easy solutions to this problem. 1. Make assault rifles and most guns unable to be buried. This might seem harsh, but there are countless ways to store them at a base. Tents and barrels are perfect for these larger items and can't be buried, but still allow players to store things. 2. Crates should be harder to build. With a box of nails and an axe, I can build 7 crates in less than five minutes. Given how powerful they are, and how easy they are to hide, this seems really overpowered. The recipe of 2 planks and 10 nails is far too low. Something like 10 planks and a box of nails, or increasing the time it takes to craft them, would balance this quite a bit. 3. Buried Stashes Should Only Last 7 Days. I said this above, but this is really the big one. 45 days is just way too long, and really limits both incentive to check on your base, and the chances that anything buried will cycle back into the CLE. If you aren't checking on your stashes in 7 days, you probably aren't checking on them at all. These, coupled with duping fixes and the various tent and apartment exploit fixes, the loot economy of this game would bounce back drastically. These of course are just micro problems with the game as a whole. Server performance needs to be the top priority, as its particularly awful on Livonia right now, but this stuff would definitely help. @Greensek

Very helpful addition to the conversation.

Stashes are a good idea in theory but there has to be some kind of balance to it. It's so easy to just lose track of or hide stashes no one will ever find. I can only imagine how many ARs and NVGs are just buried, never to be heard from again. 45 days for buried items is far too long. It should be 7 days tops. If you aren't interacting with your stashes every 7 days, chances are, you aren't interacting with them at all. Players shouldn't be able to find an M4, drop it a random crate (which is far too easy to make given how powerful it is) and most likely still have access to it a month and some change later, especially if that item isn't going to spawn on the map now.
