I feel like this should go for guns too. Sucks that people can just carry an army of guns on them.
-
or are infected just stronger?

Given the few console games, especially on Sony platforms, that allow substantial modding, I really doubt this is going to happen. I don’t think BI has any control over this, and I really doubt it’s in a position to “strike a deal” with either of these behemoth companies.

Xbox Experimental Update 1.12 (Changelog)
thepoey replied to Kyiara's topic in Xbox Experimental Updates
Cool. Has absolutely nothing to do with the problem. In my experience, every community server on Xbox is usually: 1. So poorly overloaded with high tier military loot and extra player slots, that it runs like utter shit 2. Empty 90% of the time 3. Plagued by admin abuse 4. Wipes every 2 days, which defeats the entire purpose of the game. Unless consoles can actually get meaningful modding and not just changes to day/night cycle and loot frequency, community servers are basically Call of DayZ right now. -
Xbox Experimental Update 1.12 (Changelog)
thepoey replied to Kyiara's topic in Xbox Experimental Updates
This isn’t a bad update, it’s definitely interesting, but I really hope there is some under the hood fixes for duping, because otherwise it’s all entirely pointless. The massive mega base that people are duping on the official server I play on is just getting bigger and bigger by the day. It’s truly absurd. It’s becoming a small city. -
Someone built this in less than a day. Tons of these all over the official server my group plays on. On Xbox. No sound in the video, since I had to cut out some conversation, but gives you a good idea of what dupers are doing. No wonder performance takes a dive. Who knows how many high tier guns they have stashed in there, but the whole thing is pretty ridiculous. @ImpulZ

I normally don't like posting or drawing attention to that shit, but I am increasingly seeing it on twitter and youtube, and if they don't get a handle on it, it's just going to get even more out of control.

Doesn't matter, shouldn't be on the audience or platform to expect the game to be free of cheating. If anything, aside from the rampant duping, Console is free of cheats and hacking; it's mostly just bug exploits that cause problems. And really, for Xbox anyway, it's much less about the "audience" and more about the fact that the game is on Xbox Game Pass, so the potential audience is EXTREMELY LARGE, as the game is essentially free for a lot of people. The only boon to this is that the people duping usually get bored and move on, but it still completely screws up the loot economy. It also kills potential growth in audience for new players, which sucks. I prefer playing DayZ on PC, but since my gaming circle is all console gamers, that's where I spent most of my time in game. Regardless, at this point in the game's life cycle, duping should not be so rampant, regardless of the platform. @ImpulZ

Yeah, completely unable to move. Sometimes pressing starting and initiating the Logout helps, sometimes it doesn't.

Dupers run this game. Official servers on console are officially a M4/Gold Deagle shit show all over again. 3 weeks into the "wipe". It's so frustrating how this just isn't seemingly a priority for this development team.
-
It's still usable. Getting the prompt just sucks and is very "finicky"
-
No, I usually play throughout the night. But I don't have 8 hours worth of time to play the game in a given day if I want to be able to sit through an in-game "day". I like being able to experience the full day/night cycle in a sit down. If you want a 24 hour cycle, there are plenty to accommodate you. Official is fine the way it is.
-
Official servers don't use this, at least not on console. So, even if it's the "default", it's not what people logging onto the Official "vanilla" servers are going to experience, which is what most people playing the game are going to experience. The unmodded, official experience, is set at 3 hours. Given how broken nightvision is, and how duping seems to be a huge problem anyway, I think that's generally fine. And for some people, you may only get to play for 3 hours in a given day. You shouldn't be at the whim of your schedule and be stuck playing only at night just because that's when the server happens to line up with your free time. This seems generally fair and balanced for the "Official" experience. 3 hours of darkness is long time. 3 hour cycle, maybe 4, let's someone experience the entire Day/Night cycle in one sitting. Edit: And unfortunately, you know what most likely happens with a 3 hour night cycle? People log off. The server dumps out. Keeping it relatively short, at least keeps night time spicy and addresses the realities of the playerbase.
-
Vanilla DayZ day/night cycle is 3 hours. 2 hours Day, One hour Night. You’re not going to get a full 24 hour cycle on vanilla. That’s just not living in reality. It has to be generally sped up to accommodate a wide range of players that may play at different times of the day and in different time zones. It’s not about making it “real” or harder, and there are 24 hour modded servers if you really want that. And yes you’re greatly exaggerating the health cost and inconvenience of items to prove some kind of weird point. You also can’t magically fix a broken leg by putting a split together in 3 seconds either. End of the day, it’s a video game. I’m all for making the survival elements of the game harder, there just has to be a practically to it. There’s probably some room for a balance still, sure, but you’re not going to get the kind of “realism” you want in a video game with ZOMBIES. I don’t know what game you’re playing where you ruin a knife by cutting a bush and a chicken. That’s not how it works at all, so I’m just gonna agree to disagree with your philosophy on this one.
-
Yes, even in a survival game. 🙄🙄🙄🙄 What is the point of “survival mechanics” if items last you for days or weeks at a time, and do not tax your resources. At that point, those mechanics may as well not exist. So you want survival mechanics but you also want them to have extreme durability to the point where the repair mechanics don’t matter? Makes zero sense. Want to remove the stamina meter too? Characters that exist for weeks at a time shouldn’t get tired! An average session of DayZ is what, 3 or 4 hours? With the changes you’re talking about, you’d have a problem with item durability maybe once a month. Also, you’re exaggerating A LOT about how much items, like shoes break completely. It’s something you have to check once or twice a play session, depending on what you’re wearing and where you are at. It’s not that big of a deal. It’s part of a larger cycle of resource taxing. Different shoes have different values. Play a modded server if it’s too difficult for you? DayZ has a lot of issues but this isn’t remotely one of them. Item balance is in a good place for the most part. Realism has to draw the line somewhere. The day/night cycle in real life also isn’t 3 hours.

I am really curious as to what data they are looking at that informed that decisions. Did the heatmaps across both maps shift dramatically enough post-wipe to make them say "this seems like a good thing?"
-
Yeah, this is a good point. I think for me, it's just...it's a betrayal of something inherent about the promise, the spirit of the game.
-
i don't get the complaints about durability. it's still a video game. the health of items still has to be gamified to accommodate an average play session.

Just thinking about this further, and just doing regular persistence wipes is a short term fix for interactivity, but absolutely horrible for the long term health of the game. The biggest incentive for DayZ over any other game is the permadeath nature of it. How long can you survive? Incentivizing the life of your character, beyond just the value of your "loot" needs to be Step One. The Soft Skills system is a step in that direction, but beyond that, your character needs to have value just beyond "loot". It needs to be "Survive and Thrive" not "Loot and Shoot". Removing any kind of base building long term permanence really kills any kind of incentive to do anything other than coastal PVP. Why not utilize the flag system more efficiently? Maybe all stashes and bases should have a persistence of 7 days as a default, unless they are tagged with a Flag. This could make hiding stuff a lot harder, but would also incentivize building more. I really hope base building balance gets another look and can become something viable.
-
Semi-regular wipes sounds like the team has just given up on entirely on balancing base building. Kills the incentive to really build or survive more than it already has. Going to be coastal deathmatches non stop now. Disappointed there is zero mention regarding vehicle stability and server fixes as well, which is really the big thing that needs to be looked at. I think "infected AI" could probably take a backseat when I can't even change a clip without having to log because I am suddenly Desynced. Not even exaggerating, I have to log/re-log every 10 minutes because of Desync issues. And no mention of the rampant duping issues on console? I'm hoping it is at least on the radar. Unless "semi-regular wipes" is the solution. 😒 Oh well. Very disappointing "road map". Really starting to see why people walk away from this game.

Ok, got some more video evidence of this. Also happened to my buddy. Here's two videos of this. At about the :34 second mark in the first video. HUD just completely vanishes. He's able to at least get into the menu and start the logging process, which fixes it for a second. Both times are in proximity of another player. Second video is shorter because I had to cut out me going back to the Xbox Live home menu. But both times, HUD suddenly vanishes, controls become COMPLETELY unresponsive. I have no idea how to reproduce this, but there's clear evidence of it. @lynn.zaw First video is on an Xbox Series S. Second video is on an Xbox One X. @ImpulZ This is a game breaking glitch. It needs to be addressed.
-
oh don't worry, Rust has its own set of problems lol

Several times

I don't even know how to report this to the feedback tracker, because I can't accurately reproduce it for the life of me, but there's a horrible glitch that occurs at complete random on my Xbox One X where the controller will go completely unresponsive seemingly only around other players, but otherwise, there's no rhyme or reason. It's intermittent, but I am getting pretty sick of it. Can't access anything within DayZ, the only thing that works is the Home Button. The only other thing I notice is that the character will completely reset from whatever state it is in (sitting, crouching, etc.) to Neutral. It's fucking GAME BREAKING. It happens to me way more than it should, and the only solution is the shut off the console or to restart the game. How do I know this is a DayZ problem and not an Xbox One X or hardware issue? Because this is the ONLY game I play where this occurs. No other game has or has ever had this issue in all of the time I have owned this Xbox. It just got me killed because of the stupid 15 second relog timer, which I wouldn't mind, if I didn't have to constantly relog in this game because of desync issues, but good god. I'm usually really patient and forgiving with this kind of stuff with this game, but this particular death really got me tilted. How the hell is this even an issue? Has anyone else experienced this? I have some video of it, but it doesn't show much, other than me realizing my control is completely unresponsive, and me shutting the console off, so I don't know how helpful that would be, but come on. I think I am checked out for a while. I'll check back in a year, maybe when I can count on some basic functionality to consistently work. A video game shouldn't be this unintentionally frustrating.
