    DayZ in 2022

All good stuff. I have to ask though, has there been any internal progress on consoles regarding addressing the duping exploits?

    DayZ in 2022

Are you brain dead or just being a dick because crying about vehicles is your identity or did you not even read the link “We’re in the process of importing the latest version of vehicle simulation from a newer version of our Enfusion engine. We hope this will bring some much-needed stability to vehicle simulation in DayZ and expect to perform some public testing in the coming weeks.”
  4. It's the experimental branch? There's a big warning about the experience not being optimized or stable (as far as such things can go in DayZ.) It's not really meant to be your main server destination. Outside of potentially improving performance, who cares if the servers are wiped? Most people check out EXP when an new update drops, play it for a bit, and move on to Stable.

Seeing through the map when logging in on console

It's absolutely a big problem on the last gen consoles. Now granted, those last gen consoles really struggle in some parts of the map, but it can definitely give someone an advantage in the middle of combat. You can see through countless buildings and walls. The best solution I can think of is to just black out the screen for a moments until loading in is totally complete, but even that probably isn't fair to the player, because it can take a while for the game to load in every environment, and obviously not everyone abuses this.
  6. It's definitely annoying. They've already made performance strides on PS5, so it's clearly something they care about doing, and it's a huge part of the playerbase. I will be surprised at how much performance they can tweak out of those last gen systems. The game barely functions on an Xbox One inside any big city. I just hope doing so doesn't give last gen players an unintentional advantage. They already have the ability to see through buildings for a not insignificant amount of time when loading into the game.
  7. My guess is Vigor makes a lot more money than DayZ, and runs on an easier to navigate engine with a bigger team and budget. There was talk in their preliminary plans for 2022 about the console versions getting more love this year, so I’m sure stuff like this is on the team’s mind.
  8. They listed it as a known issue in the patch notes.
  9. On Xbox EXP 1.16, you can no longer walk while in your hot wheel. Is this an intentional change or a bug?

    DayZ Update 1.15

With the huge influx of players the game has received in the last two months, I really hope that overall server performance improves dramatically in 2022, above all else. This is the only way to help ensure that this new crop of players sticks with the game for the foreseeable future. Dying senseless deaths to cars skyrocketing, desync, or any other of the numerous issues caused by massive dips in server performance is just going to drive away all a large portion of new players, and they will not come back. This definitely happened on Xbox when the game first launched, and I hope it doesn't happen again, because the population is in the best state on both console and PC it has ever been in.

    DayZ Update 1.15

They’ve made hunger even easier to survive now at lower levels. It just requires more constant effort to maintain at higher levels now. It’s in the patch notes. Honestly it sounds like you just don’t know what you’re doing. You’ve been playing since early Alpha and you’re still struggling with this? Yeesh. Stuff like fruit and mushrooms has always provided very minimal calories. If you’re running full speed across the map, ignoring your warmth levels, and only eating small bits of fruit, yeah, your hunger is never gonna stay full and you’re going to struggle. The hunger system is fine where it is.

    1.14 Experimental Release

Unlimited accounts and storage mean absolute DICK if players can't endlessly fill up alt accounts and storage options with duplicated items. Permdeath is definitely not trivial, unless you're some kind of psycho that travels the map with a main character and alts at every possible death point, or just sits next to where your alt spawns at all times. That stuff really isn't that convenient or worth doing in excess if the loot economy is functioning the way it's supposed to. "Hackers are everywhere" so fucking what? There aren't any on console, but regardless, what, problems like this should be allowed to persist because "all games have cheaters"? Give me a fucking break.

    1.14 Experimental Release

It's more of a console problem

    1.14 Experimental Release

I'd argue that exposing the problem like this potentially creates more urgency, making it more likely to be addressed. In a game with permadeath and a limited loot economy, exploits like this completely ruin the integrity of the game. edit: especially if the problem is just handwaved as something that "doesn't happen that often".

i can't believe this is still a thing. I have been posting about this for months.

    DayZ Update 1.13

Given that duping has been a problem in this game for almost the entire length of its development, I am starting it will never be fixed. As far as I can tell, it's still in the game. I think there's just too many bits and pieces of the old engine frankestein'ed into this thing for a lot of the old exploits to ever truly be removed, at least not with the current manpower BI wants to dedicate to this game.

    DayZ Update 1.13

I feel like built in party chat on Xbox kills a lot of VOIP opportunities. Most people are going to be in parties, and if they are, there’s no super quick way to switch back to Game Chat. You combine that with the lack of a VOIP toggle, and a ton of VOIP interactivity and features (walkies, radio transceivers) are ignored or useless. edit: the other problem is being able to see exactly who and how many people are on a server. No sense in talking into a walkie in hopes a stranger might here when you know only 8 people are online, and 4 of them have the same clan tag.

Awesome update. Any unlisted fixes for duping exploits on consoles?

Yeah. As you move into higher tier loot areas, the infected will get harder

    The Awesome Vehicle Thread

I don't think the Tencent thing is really part of it; a minor stake isn't going to push the direction of the entire company and push a game like DayZ to the backburner. DayZ just doesn't make the company money anymore. I think it has more to do with Ylands offering microtransactions. It probably makes more money in a month than the total single purchases DayZ yields in a year. Same with Vigor. BI sees DayZ as a one time, single source of revenue, with continually diminishing returns. Games like Vigor and Ylands are constant revenue streams, so they get all of the attention.

    The Awesome Vehicle Thread

DayZ only got a fork of the new Enfusion engine. It was supposed to get all of it, but midway through development, unbeknownst to the Dev Team at the time, the Enfusion team was pulled off of DayZ to work on another project. DayZ in 2021 is a mix of the new and old engine. That info came from a former Dev on the subreddit a while back, and I am simplifying it a bit but based on that alone, and the massively reduced development team, DayZ is very clearly no longer a priority for BI, and hasn't been for a while. Overall point is this; if there is any news to share about existing work and upgrades to the Enfusion engine, the DayZ team and the DayZ forums are not going to be the place where this information is shared and trying to get it here is barking up the wrong tree. It's very likely that the DayZ team is not even privy to this info, or more likely, not allowed to share any news or updates about work happening on Enfusion (or any other project) within BI that they are not directly involved in. I'm just speculating, but I wouldn't take the DayZ team's silence on Enfusion to be any indicator, good or bad, about the status of the engine. It's not just simply not their wheelhouse.

    DayZ Wipe Announcement 1.13

Truly do not understand the weird tribalism/feud between players of Rust and DayZ. The two games aren’t even remotely similar aside from having guns and a hunger meter. Rust is closer to Minecraft than it is to DayZ.

    Cars wont drive uphill

The boost function doesn't exist on console. There are parts of the map where cars just seemingly can't get any traction. Sometimes it's because there's clearly a large hill or incline, but sometimes there's no rhyme or reason to it. Here's a recent example. The car just COULD NOT accelerate no matter what I did. The only thing that works is putting it in neutral, revving the engine, and doing incremental tiny boosts until it frees itself. The ADA performs the best uphills and on forest, but it's not at all consistent.
