Netting wasn't spawning in 0.55 but it was hotfixed. It's still not configured though so it'll be spawning everywhere, not just in boats.

You have to cock the hammer again before firing the second shot.

I'm a mix of survivor and bandit. I don't trust anyone, so I lone wolf it. I prefer to avoid others and if I see someone I might leave them be, but if the opportunity presents itself, I have no qualms with killing them for food and supplies.

killed by zombie while i was waiting for timer

Sorry, not everyone changes servers in order to server hop. Something else could cause them to disconnect randomly, like the frequent, regular, unannounced server restarts that they didn't see coming. Hello? Is anyone even here? No message received for 15 seconds -
Your character is gone because your client can't reach the hive where it is stored. If you don't play and wait until the DDoSing stops, you will get your character back.

''Arma 2 Free'' DayZ vs ''Arma 2 Paid version'' DayZ

Do you know which weapons were affected? The PDW still takes M9SD mags, but I found a Makarov SD with only one mag, and wanted to know if it still took nonsuppressed magazines.

"Removed some non SD mags from SD weapons"
Blippy replied to Blippy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So I found a makarov mag and nearly died to a gate that just about bit off my leg. Makarov SDs do not take regular magazines, so I dropped it. I'm just gonna stick with my PDW and M9SD mags, because they're more common. -
It's not because I'll lose it. If I die (unless it's from a hacker), then it's my fault and I deserve to lose it. I don't want to lose my gear because I don't want others to have it. I have a lot of nice things and I'm sure everyone on the server I frequent would start a manhunt if they knew that I had multiple antibiotics on me, and although hunting other players is an exhilarating challenge, I know that my 65 day surviving streak will eventually come to end, and someone will grab the spoils. And that irks me. Even the thought that the looter will probably die and lose it in the next five minutes anyway doesn't bring much comfort, I don't know why. It's not just for DayZ, but for any game where someone could get my stuff by killing me. Runescape comes to mind when I played it several years ago. it's not too much of a problem since I'll very quickly get over it when I die, but I just wanted to share my thoughts.

If I open the crafting menu, put an empty whiskey bottle, rags, and a jerry can in the grid, and don't get molotovs, then I'm never crafting again until the SA.

So I realized why I'm so attached to my gear.
Blippy replied to Blippy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I came back to this thread expecting a lot of "lol stop being attached to your gear scrub" posts, and was pleasantly surprised. I guess it's nice knowing that it's how a lot of other people feel too. -
"Removed some non SD mags from SD weapons"

I was hoping someone would provide an answer instead of arguing semantics. I'll just hang on to the gun until I find a Makarov magazine and then post the answer myself. -
You think you could fool us with this? I have seen through this imposter's weak disguise and executed him on the spot (he was delicious). Now I demand answers. What have you done with the real Mountain Dew?

Should've axe murdered him from behind while he was distracted. Footsteps on grass are surprisingly quiet to other players. But I know how you feel. I've wuss logged before.

AS50 simply because it's superior in every way, but I'd take the M107 just for the sound it makes. One time I was running through Elektro, and someone fired off an M107. I didn't know what it was at the time, and I just thought "Holy shit, who's firing a railgun?"

Suicide in DayZ and why it's important
Blippy replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You know what else had a lockout timer? The WarZ Infestation: Survivor Stories. You know what people did? Deleted their character and just made a new one. -
Or you can shoot the medic for all of his antibiotics, disinfectant, and vaccines.

So I like to snipe. The problem is that the majority of my deaths were from somebody getting the jump on me. When I pick a spot to snipe at, I make sure it has a good field of view and conceals me (like surrounding myself with low pines with a ghillie suit). I always keep an ear out for footsteps and constantly look behind me, but someone always manages to get close enough to hatchet me to death or put a bullet in my skull, all without making a sound. On grass, it might be possible, but I've been ax murdered on top of warehouse roofs only accessible by ladder and didn't even hear the guy come up behind me. Assuming they're not server hopping or teleporting behind me (likely, since I play on the public hive), what am I doing wrong? Edit: And this is without firing a shot, so they didn't find me by sound.

Is to trust other players. First things first: I'm a bandit. I kill other players for their gear. I sneak up behind oblivious survivors, shout "Guess who's dying today?!" and then shoot them in the back of the head. When I'm fully geared, I'll run to the coast and hold up recent spawns of the beans they got from Komarovo until someone comes by and snipes me. However, what I don't do is lie to other players in order to kill them. When I say "I won't shoot you," I mean it. If I say I'll help someone, I'll show them around, protect them from zombies, and give them some food. If I'm in a building and someone tells me to drop my weapon and come out, I talk my way out of the situation instead of just shooting them. But I'm a bandit, so why should they take my word for it? There's no repercussions for shooting me. They won't lose humanity, and they'll get my gear. More often than not, they shoot me. I joined a low-pop server and ran to Elektro to gear up. I run into an infected bandit looting the hospital and he shoots at me, but I tell him I'm unarmed and talk him down. He shoots me about five minutes later when I'm looting the west fire station. Oh well. I spawn and run back to Elektro. I see a survivor running through a field and I hail him. Turns out he's showing his friend how to play DayZ (in his house probably, since there were no other survivors around), and he had just looted my corpse. We chat a little, run into the barn in the north and we fend off zombies. He then drops all of the stuff he looted from my body, bid me a good day, and logged off to watch a movie. Some faith in humanity restored. Now regeared, I run into the church to lose some zombies so I can continue gearing up. I then hear "You in the church. Drop your weapon and come out." I talk him down and I come out with my AK-74 lowered. He had an MP5, and I could have easily won the exchange. We chat for a minute and then we agree to not shoot each other. I occasionally hear him talking to himself, but he explains that he has a friend on Skype he's also talking to. While looting the supermarket, I see him run into the pub across the street. He blows two MP5 magazines on six zombies, and then comes in to the supermarket. He's out of ammo, so he asks to tag along with me. I allow this. I run around looting buildings and he follows me. He gets a shotgun from the west firestation, along with a couple pellets. We run to the station at the power plant, and he uses it all fending off zombies with me. He loots some slugs, but I tell him to save his ammo, and that I'll handle the zombies. I pull out my pistol... And he starts shooting at me. He shoots me six times and hits half of them. I run to the stairs, pull out my AK-74, and pump him full of lead. Right before he dies, I hear him say to his Skype friend, "Hahaha, yeah I did. Shot him like eight times." I fall unconscious and bleed to death. Him sounding like he was fourteen should've been a red flag, but I didn't think of it at the time. I spawn, run back to the fire station, loot and then hide both corpses. I guess I can count that as a victory since I came out with more stuff than before and he now has nothing, but the use of deceit left a bitter taste in my mouth. It is extremely hard to trust armed survivors, especially when you're a bandit and you have better gear than them. The friendly guy at the barn made me feel good and want to team up with others more, but the kid afterwards undid all of that and then some. I shot the next guy that came close to me, but I left most of his gear there and told him he could come back and get it. I'm okay with being shot on sight, but when people call friendly and then shoot you, it makes you not trust others. As a result, you shoot others due to loss of trust, and in turn they start shooting others. Eventually, the word "friendly" will have no meaning, and saying it is just going to give your position away. Bandits gonna bandit, but don't be a dick. If you call friendly, mean it.

This happened to me. I logged onto a public hive and had a new character. Thankfully I was already on the coast when I had to make a new character, so I didn't really lose anything. Didn't lose my bandit skin.
-
That's still enough to get a basic set of gear and tools after dying, and is much harder to find.
-
Like you said, since it's much harder to hide your tents, you're less likely to have incredibly secure loot. That makes the game more challenging and refreshing.
-
Why don't people leave the coast?
Blippy replied to victusmortuus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Because you can get geared just as well as you could up north while only having to run a fourth or less of the distance. The big towns are closer to spawn, so naturally newspawns go there. Obviously people who like to PvP will go to places where there are higher concentration of players. -
Pretty sure they release it like any other update.
