Yeah intel CPUs are better than AMD, but the new Zen architecture will bring everything on par with Intel. As for nVidia, their Maxwell Generation of cards is already showing signs of an unceremonious collapse at DX12 and Vulkan. Right now your best value-per-dollar is Intel CPU and AMD GPU. But I'm pretty sure but guessing this game has been developed with Gameworks so it will be difficult at first for AMD to catchup with drivers. But it's ok AMD users, the next generation will belong to you. As for benchmark testing, be very cautious who you believe and follow, probably 2 or 3 reliable sites/youtubers out there.

Running anything at higher power levels than they were designed for is always going to be detrimental to it. However with proper cooling and research overclocking is a perfectly reasonable and safe process. However, the difference in frame rates is usually at best in the lower teens percentages so on an average FPS of 20 in cities you would be doing AMAZEBALLS getting 25 after a good overclock. Play around with your settings, I've played and set DayZ up on at least a dozen machines now and there is a max/min limit of FPS and quality you can achieve no matter what hardware you're using. In other words, there are places that you will always get the same frames regardless of whether you have everything on low or high.

Yeah this would be about the MINIMUM that I would be expecting really, especially since it's a new game engine with a lot more development and experienced devs behind it.

To be honest you're right, I don't know why it should affect it in any way. I'll put it to a brain fart and hopefully move swiftly on :P . But the overall reduction is a very interesting point, have to wait and test it out once it's released. It's hard for me to tell with these youtube vids.

Well he did say all settings are set to maximum so that would suggest that viewing distance would be at maximum too. I'd imagine the fog effect is reducing visibility, as it should. Bet she purrs like a kitten. Unless it's like a thing for you, that processor should last a fair few years yet.

I don't support any game changing buffs, triggers, pickups or zones like that. Same for creating any "special" or "boss infected" - obese people would be lore friendly but that's it. These just add arcade features to to-the-core pure-simulation that makes DayZ so realistic.

I would be shocked if it wasn't some sort of a WiP. So many AKMs... lost...

I've suspected it too, the PAX would have been a nice marketing boost but from what we saw it's practically "ready" so hopefully, fingers crossed we'll get a surprise soon!

I don't KoS but from now on if I meet a bambi on the coast going to Czerno, and he's not meeting a friend, I'll just save them the energy and time of the run and brain them there and then. So, yeah, follow the advice others have given you, ignore my ranting, and you'll be flourishing in no time. :)

Eight days is insane, barely enough time to justify having a camp. What about going on holidays? Usually that is a one to two week period with some taking up to a month. Seems like a cheap way to get some memory bavk.

I was just perusing the server list in the game and saw them there. Have they been there all along or is this a tease from the Devs?

Unfortunately I think we'll be lucky with 200 player servers. Still these are some nice pipe dreams... maybe modders will figure out how to make a bigger map. At least DayZ 2 will for sure. :)

Yea but a tin can be easily and fairly efficiently opened by whacking it along the edges of a table or, indeed many more ways without tools, and we can't do that so I look at it all as a trade off. :)

If I was a marketing professional, and I haven't been in about 6 years, I could hypothesise that PAX is being used to publicise 0.6 and the fancy new engine, and E3, will be final version/Beta date announcement for the eventual 1.0 release in the Autumn/Holidays. Now I can look at these recent delays in two ways; 1) not giving me much hope and everything is late in development or 2) Everything is on time and the release of the next few features and engine can be crucial to the games launch success so anything exciting is being held back for industry events. All-in-all I would be pretty pissed off that we were being made wait just so BI can have an ego and sales boost, but I fully understand and support such a marketing model. The fan in me says I want it yesterday! Thj servers are up and it means I can play! But the mature adult says, they need too do it right across the board so we can all be happy come final release, and that includes getting the media exposure which will bring all those fresh noobs for us to skin.
