    Saw an MP5 near a BRDM, along with 2 full 30rd mags for it. Saw 2 more 30rd MP5 mags near a different BRDM. Have yet to see an MP5 stock though. Also, with a suppressor it sounds quite nice (and quiet) although on this build I've only found Eastern block suppressors.

    I really appreciate the fact that z's now make noise when they see you and start running after you. Sure, it sounds like a pack of them even if it's only one, but I'll take that any day over the dead silent ninja z's that you don't know are there until they knock you upside the head.

    10 FT fall = Death

    You can tell who's never jumped out of a plane before. 10ft falls won't kill you if you do a decent plf, hell even if you don't. I've stopped bothering to pick up morphine when I see it because I've yet to actually break something and not just outright die (from a fall). Might as well add brain aneurysms to the mix while we're at it. Just be walking along energized and hydrated and then BAM out of the blue "you are dead". Wtf was that you think? Oh you had a brain aneurysm and died. It happens in real life so it must make for good game play right?

    Military barrack, have they become 'minor' loot building

    I have not found anything in .mil barracks other than the odd gas stove. This was at Zelenogorsk, south of Vybor and also at NWAF. Jail buildings basically empty as well, even after server restarts. Also nothing in the tents just above NWAF, nor the refugee tent city west of Myshkino.

    Apparently all servers have persistence off, even if they say otherwise. I've seen lots of 3 man tents but ignored them because of this. It's a nice touch when the admins set a warning message when a reset is coming up. Lost 3 SKS's at different times while either eating or drinking. I've been keeping an AK74 on my back hoping to find at least one mag for it, and carrying an SKS because, well 10 shots is better than one. Somehow I always seem to be eating or drinking when the server restarts. Luckily SKS's seem to be fairly easy to come by.

    Wow 500 meters is way OP for .22LR If we want to be somewhat realistic around 50-60 yards unscoped and maybe 200-250 yards with a scope might be good. Should probably make rifles more accurate than pistols if they aren't already. I've mostly only used pistols inside 5 meters so I can't really say how far they will reach out. Think I'll give pistol distance shooting a try next time I'm on. Also noticed that Z's are going down quicker and with fewer shots this build. Been mostly able to get one shot kills with an SKS, even at 200 meters. Single shot (no mag) 5.45x39 has been taking two shots.

    Found a very few backpacks in civilian houses, the ones that had anything mostly had splosions of wool coats. I'll have to check more hunting stands. Makes sense a hunting backpack would be in a hunting stand though. Most sheds I've been too are completely empty, even right after a server restart. What's been gold for me is the newly enterable guard buildings, the porches at least. Especially the one in Cherno. Did finally find a holster for the plate carrier next to a police car. Also, some guard towers seem to have decent loot, found lots of food in them and also an AK74 mag once. Try not to get treed in one through because it's impossible to get a good shot on zombies at the base. I found sitting down for a bit gets you off their radar and they start wandering off, at which point you can get a better angle. Of course it would be better to deal with them before you go up. Think I'm done with the prison island though. After being thrown to my death out of a guard tower from simply dropping a crossbow (while in the tower), I made my way back and was up on one of the two balconies with clothing splosions and accidentally walked right through the railing and down onto the roof. There was a certain part of the wall where I seemed to glitch up a little bit but not enough to get back up onto the balcony. Further walking into the wall below the balcony resulted in death.

    LOTS of plate carriers on the prison island. Along with tons of clothes, cargo pants, medical scrubs, TTsKO jackets and pants, assault vests, etc. Pouches I have seen around but not that many and have yet to come across a holster for the plate carrier. Lots of 3 person tents there as well. Only found one leather sewing kit and have yet to find a regular sewing kit. Also haven't found a single fishing hook. Would try making one out of bone but have yet to find any animals.

    Apples are for sure improved. I survived for about 6 hours eating nothing but apples. Only died when I was in a guard tower and tried to drop a crossbow I was picking up to get at something beneath it, and it tossed me out of the tower. Have also had problems picking things up. Once my repeater disappeared. I ran back to where I had seen another one on the ground near a cop car thinking maybe I accidentally dropped it but it wasn't there. The other repeater wasn't there but there was a shotgun I could not pick up. Decided to log out and log back in and once I was back in my repeater was on my back and the shotgun in my hands. Backpacks are for sure more scarce. Or maybe they're just in unusual places.

    Zombies came through the jail building doors at Zelenogorsk. They weren't right behind me when I shut the doors so they didn't slide in right behind me. They just disregarded the doors completely. Also it seemed like another one entered through the back wall of the building, but can't be positive on that one. Some servers I've been on have zero loot. Zero. Plenty of apples to survive as long as you want but nothing else to do besides pick apples. Couldn't find any stones on those servers either. Other servers seem to have an ok spread of loot in most places. Found a couple of trucks, drove down the road immediately south of Vybor and hit an invisible wall just past the piano house (just south of Vybor), which flipped the truck up in the air, landing upside down. Took a screenshot but video would have been nice. Edit: Vybor not Cherno doh!

    I entered the jail building at Zelenogorsk a couple of hours ago. Shut the doors and two zombies came right on in anyways, like fuck doors we're magic zombies. Thanks devs!

    Stable Branch - 0.57 Discussion

    So, after a couple of hours playing the new .57 version this afternoon/evening my thirst meter apparently stopped working. I was at a well drinking full PET bottles, refilling, drinking like 6-7 times and my thirst never changed. I forget exactly where my thirst level was but I was thirsty, probably in the red. I got tired of drinking and headed off. Logged out and back in a short while later and immediately threw up (from being overstuffed with water?). My health meters seemed to start working, everything went to green energized and hydrated and then an hour or so later it happened again, and no matter how much I drank I was still dying of thirst. I didn't realize how bad it was until I actually fell unconscious. Is this happening to anyone else? Am I pretty much done for on this iteration? Do you ever regain consciousness without outside intervention?

    Resenting DayZ

    I've been playing DayZ for 2 days now, only have 12 hours logged and I have found it pretty hard bordering on impossible to not starve to death on many of the servers I have been on. I don't have a problem with not finding canned food all over the place, but in some areas there just doesn't appear to be anything. This is on servers with 1-2 other players. I have tried searching apple trees, never once found a single apple. I can live with that. I found a fishing hook once, not sure what else the game requires to make a fishing pole (probably rope and a stick or pole?). Nothing really seems to matter because I start off hungry in the middle of bum fuck coastal nowhere and if I don't luck out and find food I quickly progress to starving to death, sometimes in as little as 30 minutes. Now, the lack of food issue as I said I can deal with. I don't mind having to search my ass off, or even hunt or farm. The issue is starving to death in 30 minutes. What in the world is that all about? Have the developers never heard of the rule of 3? It's a guideline obviously but it goes like this: you can survive for 3 minutes without air, 3 days without water, and 3 weeks without food. The starving mechanism of the screen desaturating and things getting fuzzy is not a bad idea... if you haven't had any water or other fluids in a couple of days, or if you haven't eaten anything in a week or two. But 30 minutes? Come on now that's about as unrealistic as it can get. I kept hearing to move inland away from the coast, and to go north, so I tried that and by the time I got to some cabins, or a town I was already starving. Tried running south to see if I could find anything down there and by the time I got to any civilization same thing, starving to death. Also, can't farm when you starve before you can find everything you need. Has anyone here actually grown things in a garden? It takes a long time! If you plant something today you sure as heck won't be able to harvest it within 30 minutes, or even 30 days. I did find at different times a hoe, pumpkin seeds, some other seeds I don't remember what they were and never were any of them close enough to each other to actually be useful before I starved to death. I have gotten a little better at surviving since my first couple of lives. I finally said fuck it and hopped on a server with 49 players and that was the one server where I actually got geared, except for a firearm. Actually found enough food, a canteen and water bottle, sodas, a nice backpack, some decent clothes, a splitting axe, a crossbow, hunting knife, a compass and a bunch of other stuff. Couldn't freaking believe it. Then I started hearing gunshots close by so I figured I better skedaddle. Got out of town without being shot, and then promptly started starving again, until starving to death. FML. If they would adjust the starvation parameters to a realistic amount of time that would make a huge difference. I mean even a newborn baby won't starve to death in 30 minutes. Probably not even a day or two. Yet an adult in this game will. What in the world is that all about?
