So I finally found an axe, and was happily smashing zombies without drawing the attention of the herd. I then started picking up supplies, some chem lights here, some road flares there. Then some zombies jumped me, and I proceeded to whack them with the axe, but all my character would do was throw the flares/chem lights!? The axe was still equipped, but there was no way to start attacking again... Is it glitched?

WOW All the "lol don't play" and "to hardcore for you lol" comments make the ARMA community look kind of pathetic... I just don't play the game at night.

No, I agree. Maybe not a pistol, but at least start us with a melee weapon (if they exist). 9 times out of 10, loot has a zombie standing over top of it in barns/sheds. Not having any way to deal with one zombie when you start the game is kind of frustrating :(, and I'm generally all for hardcore games, but at least give us a melee weapon :). I've started near one of the major cities ONCE, in about 20 deaths. So having quick access to looting areas isn't always possible.

This JUST started happening a few minutes ago. As soon as I spawn, my character drops dead and I have a large hour glass counting down on screen. I have no control over anything, even pressing "ESC" do nothing. It seems to have started after someone killed me on a roof top, I respawned and my character was moving on his own, I quit and restarted, now I die when I join any game. *EDIT* I waited out the timer and my character rolled over into the tiger crawl position? Is this some kind of penalty for dying?

You have to activate ARMA II on Bhomeia's website, from what I've heard. I have no idea how to go about doing so though.

You have to install the ARMA II BETA patch to get 3rd person working. Read about it first, because it's a pain to get running properly with DayZ. It can be done though, just gotta read.

Thanks LVG :) Turns out I was clicking on the wrong thing.... I was clicking on the name in the side of the gear window, not the actual gear itself... :P

So I've finally been able to play, fun game :). But when I'm bleeding out, I can't seem to heal myself? My character is visibly pouring blood and the meter is dropping and I have bandage, but no matter what I try, I can't use it!? I have no mouse wheel menu to choose anything from, even though the bandage is in my gear. Am I doing something wrong? The way the ARMA II bootcamp showed it, I should have a mouse wheel menu to choose it from, but i don't.. Also, I'm not sure about this one. I found an axe, does that count as a weapon?? It sits in my gear, but i can't seem to do anything with it, except drop it. Am I having some issue where the mouse wheel menu isn't appearing, or am I doing it wrong???

How do you update manually LVG? This is the first day I've ever played the game, so I'm at a loss for what to do, beyond using the DayZupdater? Worrum's Updater just magically started working again lol

It figures, first time I EVER played the game/mod and THIS happens... I can't find this "canada 2" server you're all talking about either.
