Some things I've noticed in the new update
Goose Springsteen posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hey Guys, I was just wondering if you had noticed this too or perhaps it is just me! First of all it seems like the sandbags etc have been removed from Cherno or at least the center of Cherno? It also seems like weapon spawns are much rarer know as I went through the town hall and surrounding buildings and found nothing. I'm not necessarily complaining but it's just different! Cheers Goose -
Myself and my friend just put 2 down and could not access them in any way ? Has anyone else got some light to shed on this subject? Edit: Nevermind I found it but it seemed to be some way from where I deployed it!

My own thoughts and reservations regarding the impending morality system
Goose Springsteen posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hey All, I just thought that as someone who does occasionally indulge in a spot of PVP'ing I might give some thoughts on the matter of the (what I assume is) the impending morality system. Personally speaking, my concern regarding this likely feature is that it detracts from the present emergent consequences of acting like a dick in the game, namely that if you persist in killing other players the penalty is already there: you have alienated someone who is likely to want revenge and may even attempt to actively seek you out and kill you. Instead of this, some kind of morality based system that penalizes players who PVP seems far too arbitrary and (if I may use the term without irony) gamey personally. New people who see you for the first time shouldn't know whether you are good or bad based on the colour of your name, rather they should have to form their opinions of you based on your actions and from what they have heard from other players. Worse still is the prospect of negative stat effects for those who PVP, again I think that the consequences for being a killer are already sufficient to present their own challenges and putting someone at a disadvantage because they kill other players through stats seems to me to be a cheap move. Anyway, this is of course just my opinion so I would appreciate any and all counter arguments and perhaps even some feedback/clarification from the very kind dev(s) :D. It's a great mod and hopefully I'll see you on the battlefield (and hopefully you wont see me... until it's too late ;)!) -
What would really happen is that you'd either crash and die horribly or a few players would get jealous and light you up for having the audacity to have repaired a car :D! I know that if I saw someone in a vehicle the first thing that I would like to do would be to try and kill them and steal it.

Hey all, It seems that the spawn system is not quite working as intended as after I died I left to respawn and upon my return I had resumed my pre death position on top of the hospital with all my gear? I was quite happy but I'm pretty sure this isn't working as intended! Cheers! Goose

Hey Guys, Bandit here (after 2 kills!) and I thought I might contribute my perspective to this very good discussion you are having. From my perspective it seems like the fact that I now have a bandit skin is actually an incentive for me to eliminate any survivors who I don't know personally because I can't take the risk of them killing me before I kill them. Previously I have engaged in some PVP (I've probably killed about 10 players in the week that I have been playing and assisted in the killing of half as many more) but the essential point is that I could always pass up an opportunity to kill someone without the very real danger of that "benevolence" getting me killed. So effectively it seems that this bandit system is just going to create a great roundabout of death and destruction. People see bandits so they shoot on sight eventually becoming bandits themselves who will get shot on sight so they must shoot other players on sight for their own preservation. I think that if no changes are made you might find in a week or two that a majority of players (or at least a sizable minority) are rolling around in the bandit skin because of actions they have felt forced to take. -

I can confirm that this issue is still effecting me and it seems a number of other players also at the moment. Have given up for now after trying to connect to a server for the sixth or seventh time. But hey it's an alpha!

Are fireplaces still working?

Yeah it was just an as it happens question on the forums. it seems that fireplaces don't get placed exactly where you are though but can be a few meters way :D! -

That is fair enough but it doesn't mean it isn't something of an issue at least in terms of presenting players with the "full" and more challenging conditions. -

You loose a LOT more than you gain from killing/bandaging. Surely the problem with that is that in many cases everything can be over within a few seconds, even (correct me if I'm wrong) with a single shot. Personally speaking if I got the drop on someone I'd generally aim for the head and I'm pretty sure that it would more often than not result in a one hit kill? I understand there might not be a perfect solution but I think that what you have suggested above appears to me to be somewhat lacking because it forces you to be pressed into a corner before you can rightly take defensive action. -

Hello Guys! :) My game name is also Goose Springsteen. I absolutely this mod even if it is both one of the most frustrating (ARMA 2 physics/zombies attacking you through walls) gaming experiences I have ever had! This is because it is also simultaneously one of the most rewarding whether you are stalking another player with your rifle and taking him out from hundreds of meters away or stumbling along a dark beach at night trying to avoid the hordes of Z's. I look forward to continuing to play with you all! Goose
