Another Hive Wipe for 0.59...? If so why?

How many more ways to say it?

    Zombies in 0.59 (Experimental)

Try heading to Severograd. I always seem to run into a decent supply of infected persons there in 0.59. Hardly see them elsewhere (though I avoid coastal cities).
  3. I played 3PP servers up until last night when they did the whole 1PP only thing, so I had a crack at pure 1PP and I have to say - it was way better (in my opinion). Put as simply as possible: it's more realistic (immersive, if you will). So why did I play 3PP before? Well, I'm a casual player and there are way more 3PP servers, in general (especially public ones on stable). So I just gravitated that way so I could get in to a well populated server easily. At first, I hardly used 3PP as 1PP just felt right and 3PP felt... silly / superfluous. As time went on I got more into the game and read on forums about peeking over walls etc, also watched Youtube videos and so started using 3PP to try to get killed less (I'm not normally a KOS guy, but happy to get into a ruckus). Basically - I followed the crowd. Many of the best experiences in life are borne of constraints (music production before digital, free-running, certain low budget films, certain art created under oppressive regimes, etc etc). In the context of computer games - part of the developers job is to artifically create and enforce those constraints (same with other software in some ways I guess) for the benefit of their customers. Lots of people would have M4s spawn all over the place, doesn't mean it's a good idea. I'm losing my train of thought. Maybe mods are the place for 3PP. TL:DR; would have been best if 3PP never existed then we'd all never have tasted the forbidden fruit.

If you want a hunting scope...

This one? http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus They're the green dots, I think.

If you want a hunting scope...

I tried a bunch of them too (assuming a feed shack is the little hut with the little ladder at 45 degree angle going up to it). I will continue to try both when I need to.
  6. You could always try my method: Check about 30 hunting stands, even try a little loot cycling in the north and then feel soulless and regreftul. Find a nice pristine PU scope though, so head to NWAF to find an SKS but get shot at nearby and chased a long way. Then get caught up with and have two nice guys (German, I think) apologise profusely (they thought I had my weapon unhosltered - I didn't) and offer food and water, to which I said "How about a hunting scope", and they gave me a hunting scope! My Blaze is complete. I actually saw one of the two guys before they saw me (I think) but I thought they were a 'standing up dead person'. They were really friendly and said I should be more watchful and there was someone shooting at them at the NWAF and did I want to help. I was too worried about losing my new hunting scope (want to practise first - never had one) so off I went. Such a nice change not to be KOS'd (even if they did try). Thanks for the scope! This was on UK exp 05 I think.

    Players dwindling

It's quite common to only play a given game for a certain amount of time I think. You can call it 'burning out' or 'getting bored of it' etc. I think alpha (and beta) testers have to accept that they may 'burn out' before the game is finished. If they don't accept this then they will end up resenting the game for failing to achieve it's potential during the time that they were enjoying playing it. As previously mentioned - I bought GTA V and 'burnt out' in 2 weeks (although partly because I wanted to get back to DayZ to be fair). Half-life was a revelation to me (and many others of course). But I doubt I ever played thousands of hours in it - I moved on to other things. I think that the fact a game is in alpha or beta or whatever is irrelevant in some discussions. Think of other forms of entertainment; you don't get to the end of a film or a gig and be all like 'I want more from this' (well you might, but you get the point I expect). Any game has limited content (arguably untrue in multiplayer games, though then the infinite 'content' is up to the players to generate) and once a player has consumed that content to their own limits then that's that - they have finished the game, just like when a film ends. There's a small part of me that thinks "I could have waited until DayZ was finished and then it would all be fresh and new all at once and wouldn;t that be sweet" but now is now and now is when I want to play DayZ. I accept that I will lack that excitement factor when it is released because it was my choice to give it up. Also it's interesting being a (tiny) part of the development process.

That's 22.83% of your time, or nearly 6 hours a day, every day. Basically a full working week. Is it so surprising you have no desire to play anymore? Maybe your fault for burning out?

    Players dwindling

Ok so the alpha playerbase is dwindling. But how many people out there are there that thought to themselves - "Hey that sounds like a cool game but it says it's still going to be incomplete and full of bugs so I'm not going to buy into it because I don't fancy that as it sounds like it could be frustrating for me. I'll wait until it comes out, read reviews etc and then maybe buy it.". That would be pretty rational and intelligent unlike just complaining all the [expletive] time. Threads like this really put me off the game development sector. The guys making this game are real people, with, you know, feelings, and a sense of pride etc etc. To build this for people and then have so many of them throw it back in your face must be pretty rubbish, though I'm sure it's to be expected (sadly).

Is Fallout 4 really that good? I got a bit tired of DayZ 3 or 4 months ago (mostly because all the KOS and lack of stuff to do) and bought GTA V but just couldn't stick to it. I was back in DayZ and trying harder a couple of weeks later. I left Elite: Dangerous for DayZ and will give the new expansion a go in a few days. But nothing beats the tension of DayZ. I mean, Fallout 4 isn't even multiplayer. GTA V just felt so silly, comparatively. Maybe I should give ARMA 3 a go...

    Sudden death! Bug, presumably

Could be something like that yeah. I had a glowplug and some nice guns. Never even got to shoot or drive...
  13. Wandering around Novo, miding my own business, on a server with 4 other people, none of whom I have seen. They might have seen me, but I'd only been on for maybe 10 minutes so it's fairly unlikely. Just healthily walking along a flat bit of pavement in front of a building looking for an interesting building to loot and then 'You are dead'. Didn't go unconscious first at all. Definitely a bug? Have never had similar experience before.
  14. I have read so many threads where people whinge about wipes and bugs causing gear loss and I can't believe I'm now saying it too: It's an alpha build. I mean - EVERY TIME the game starts up there is a comprehensive and polite message explaining the situation. The devs already make more allowance for players than they have are obliged to. Some people will never be happy though. If they gave warning of a wipe, it wouldn't be enough warning, or it would be unnecessary blah blah. Yes - you paid for it. But nobody held a gun to your head and forced you too. In fact - the terms were clearly explained. And people want them to apologise for a wipe? If i were a dev reading this thread I don't know if I'd be laughing or crying. Just grow up and gear up!!! And then kill me because I've lost my three barrels of guns and stuff.
