    Pay To Win

I'd suggest playing on private hives. People can do some sleezy stuff on public servers, including server hopping, ghosting, and gearing up on their own server then heading to another to wreck everyone else with their god tier military loot. You'll meet cool people, have a better chance of maintaining your own camp, and generally have a better time. I can't remember the last time I seriously tried to loot up on a public hive. And honestly, anyone willing to shell out $50+ a month for their character to be fully looted deserves to do whatever they want.
  2. Exactly. Combat logging is just robbing you of the experience you could've had with that player interaction. You're not going to get any better at the game. What would you even be saving your gear for anyway.
  3. Please, speak for yourselves. This is a survival game. Combat logging is an exploit. Calling combat logging a playstyle is like calling duping a playstyle. Duping is a bannable offence in all servers, and I'm sure more admins would ban combat loggers if it were easier to find them. 90% of the fun I get out of this game comes from the fact that I could die at any time. Meeting new people (who might kill me), visiting new areas (where people are waiting to kill me), trying new survival techniques (which will somehow get me killed), driving around (where I might hit something invisible and crash, killing me), and looting up (where I might fall and be killed), are all encouraged, and are what make this game so great.
  4. Actually, they have. Your character will sit down once you log out of a server, and stay there for about 30 seconds before you are safely logged out. This was directly addressing the problem of combat logging / ghosting. Clearly, it hasn't completely fixed the problem, but until we force everyone on the planet to play dayz 24/7, it'll have to do. OP wanted a discussion, which is why he posted on the forum in the first place (presumably).
  5. Pretty sure that if the devs put in a device to prevent a behavior, it's against this "DayZ proper behavior codex" you speak of. I'm all for freedom of playstyles, but the action of combat logging kind of breaks the 4th wall, for lack of a better term. Plus just the way he decided to brag about it on a public forum makes it completely acceptable that we tear him a new asshole.

Yea, I still enjoy the heck outta some DAyz

You are right, the survivor's hands are considered a single-item, unlimited lot inventory. If you preform an action (i.e. eat something) with an item in your hands, you will drop the item you're carrying on the ground (assuming there is no space in your inventory). Upon completion of the action, you should automatically pick up the item you dropped. However sometimes, while vaulting for instance, the item in your hands (I've noticed this most often with firearms) will bug out, and prevent you from putting it away. The main way I've tried to "fix" this is to hit the G key to throw it on the ground, but it will often either disappear or not allow you to pick it up. Relogging often fixes any problems with items in your hands, but you will also often lose your firearm. I've lost an AK74 (mag, silencer), a couple fully decked MP5's, and a couple other lower calibur rifles. Really can't wait for them to fix this.

Agreed. Higher FPS and smoother gameplay definitely makes for a more immersive experience. You'll be pleasantly surprised with how many cool features have found their way into the game. Only problem I'm facing is disappearing loot from the hands of my survivor. Welcome back!

    Status Report - 09 Jun 2015

This is a fantastic idea. I'm sure network and framerate issues would need to be resolved, but putting more zeds in an area that has more rare items would be brilliant, and pretty realistic too. I hope that the devs take this into account when designing the zed spawning.
  10. Dunno about zeds being difficult to kill... even if I decide to go full Mike Tyson on them I can usually take one out without taking any damage to my gear or springing a blood leak. Not sure exactly what you are complaining about. Do you want them easier to kill? Because I think they could use a buff. Zeds should be FEARED, even more so than players in my opinion. That would facilitate grouping up and discourage KOS. Always remember, the mechanics are constantly being tweaked, and the zeds probably (hopefully) aren't in a final state. You've gotta admit that they have been a lot more broken in previous patches, so you could at least admit the devs are heading in the right direction.

    Status Report - 09 Jun 2015

No way! Could've sworn it was done on purpose. I can't recall a time (in this exp patch) where there wasn't a rope right next to every burlap sack I've come across.

    Status Report - 09 Jun 2015

Town specific loot would be pretty cool. I'm hoping that with a larger variety of buildings being implemented, maybe certain buildings would only appear once in a specific town. I think that would give a lot more personality to the cities of Chernarus+, instead of every town being a different configuration of the same buildings over and over again.

    Status Report - 09 Jun 2015

Glad the CLE/persistence issues have been addressed. I'm really excited for vehicle maintenance. Sounds like it has very complex mechanics in place. I'm wondering whether zombies and/or animals will be omitted from the stable release? I wouldn't care that much if zombies were left out, but I'm really starting to enjoy the "live off the land" play style, as there are so many new crafting options out there, and animals are pretty essential to facilitate this style.

    The Guide to Wilderness Survival

Hope to see this stickied and maintained, as there are a lot of new crafting techniques coming out, and everyone should know about them!

    Developer Appreciation

Everyone replying to your posts are giving legitimate reasons why optimization is left for the later stages of beta, and new content is the focus for alpha. If reading the forums regularly and understanding how the development process of a game works makes me a "fanboy", then maybe you should try being a "fanboy" too... You'd realize how backwards your thinking is and how the criticism you are providing is helping nobody and just annoying the people who actually are following the development of this game. EDIT: In response to OP: I agree, the devs deserve praise for being so open and transparent in the game development process. I'm sure they are used to people like this evil11 saying they are doing a crap job. I just wish there was a place for the people actually looking to help the development process to openly discuss features in the game without having to see the same shitpost every day about how someone could do a better job than the crew at BI is doing. Closest thing I can find is the experimental discussion threads, which generally have people willing to contribute in a constructive fashion.

    So Probably a Dumb Question

Before this hidden stat was addressed, it was more likely that the longer you stayed alive, the more likely chance you'd have of taking a critical hit. As I've posted above, there are plans to regenerate the stat in the next stable patch.

    hopeful

Chances are the network problems that you are facing are likely due to problems with the legacy netcode in the game. Don't be surprised if you get a new ISP and still see problems with desync, lag, and issues with multiplayer.

    So Probably a Dumb Question

It's a video by WOBO. He does a lot of "science of dayz" videos, if you haven't seen his youtube channel be sure to check it out: Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/WOBOchannel The specific video about this bone condition or whatever: Hicks on twitter addressing this: Post on this forum about it being fixed / from twitter: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/224838-twitter-iamtomasik-so-called-spinal-fractures-should-be-healing-now-in-056/ EDIT: Sorry about the formatting of my post. These forums don't seem to like multimedia.

True or Lie (DayZ for Mac)?

I think the main problem is that we're on DX9 right now, but they are working on porting it to DX11 (someone correct me if I'm wrong). This should allow for the game to be played on UNIX machines (Linux, Mac, etc). I wouldn't count on any of this happening before full release, beta if we're lucky. As for Playstation, I'm sure it would be possible, but I personally don't think any game made for PC then ported over to console works out too well (e.g. Half-Life series/orange box, America's Army, etc). In fact, most of the games I've encountered that were ported from console to PC worked out very well either. Again, I wouldn't count on any of this until after full release.

    So Probably a Dumb Question

This problem (feature?) has been addressed, and it's supposed to regenerate over time in the next patch. It was posted on twitter, too lazy to find it now.
  22. I'd suggest getting a twitter account (if you don't already have one), follow Eugene, Brian, dayz dev accounts, etc. The most up-to-date information is here.

    More than anything

It's been addressed that those "ghost noises" (eating, combining stackables, etc.) are caused by desync problems, bugs in the legacy audio engine, or both. There are a lot of other threads on this forum about these ambient sounds. Either way, they are working on all the desync problems, and replacing/refactoring the audio engine, which should get rid of these types of noises. Personally, I hope that they fix these problems, but add in other audio distractions. Especially if you are starting to go "crazy" from cannibalism, disease, or the longevity of survival. It would be cool to have similar sounds so that you are always on edge.

    Status report lateness

I love this idea! Here's mine: I'll be taking bets on how close my status report is to the actual status report (if it's ever released wtf devs).
