Id have to argue with that just because of game mechanics about how unreliable shotguns are atm. I hit someone point blank range with a shotgun before, yes, killed them. Ive also tried the same thing with other people and barely touched them. For now, id stick with a SMG. When shotguns are balanced, i flip to close range explosive death once more :)

Im going to make a brief step in here, just going to say something. The reason Hicks ditched the mod and moved to the standalone is because it could be created from the ground up with a different engine, so that they could vastly cut down on hackers and system performance. Mods WILL be in the final release of the game. It has been confirmed by the devs, its going to happen. For all we know, some mods will be as minor as adding a SINGLE gun to the game. Yes, some will be more outlandish, but, oh well. If you think thats going to ruin the game, you need your head examined.

One of my favourite times in DayZ so far. Me and my friend decide to head down to the coast and see what we can find. Why not, if we die, we can gear up again. So, we decide to head to balota airfield. Bright idea. As soon as we get into one of the hangers, the "weapon in your hand" glitch happens and I cant draw my AUG. I decide to take a run around to the back of the hanger (outside) and I get shot. So, I run back inside trying to fix the issue. Then the guy appears in the entrance and guns me down, DOESNT kill me though (thank the lord for motorbike helms). When he goes inside to loot my body, my friend is standing inside the doorway, and just unloads on him Takes him out then kills him. Then he gets me back up, saline, bandages, whole 9 yards. Then, as SOON as I wake up, I see a guy sprinting across the field towards us, with his gun out. My friends back is turned, so, obviously, I make the obvious choice. I open fire, gun him down. He goes to loot, I cover him, and we get SWARMED by infected. We decide to head to the control tower to rest a bit, but, then, ANOTHER sniper tries to hit us, and we get pinned in the tower. At that point, I have to log off and go to work, but, my friend stays in, the guy goes up to the tower, and he manages to gun him down. It was a eventful day in Dayz :)

*grabs popcorn and watches show* But really, mods shouldn't be allowed? *facepalm so hard* Flim is doing a PHENOMENAL job at laying down the positive argument here, so I'll let him take the reigns. I'll step in if necessary.

Im leaning more towards tranq darts. Why? Because you can be 10x more of a dick with them. You could have the standard "Hey, knock him out!" dart, or tip it with infected blood, your blood, alcohol, shit, I could go on. Be a jackass, prefer the dart more :)

I believe this is planned in the future, and there has been ideas posted about this before. Believe me, I want this too. Just a handy tip, good idea to use the search function. :)

Depending on where you place your mags for your weapons, it should affect the reload speed. For example. Say you have a UK Tac Vest on, and a Hunting Backpack. You have one mag in your vest, and one in your backpack. In real life, realistically, it would be quicker for you to simply pull the mag out of the vest, and bam, slap it into your gun. Meanwhile, you would have to realistically have your backpack in front of you in order to find the mag, which takes more time. People usually just use the tac vests for more storage space of anything really (in game). This would add a bit more realism to the game, by making players actually THINK about where they are putting their ammo, and using storage space both more effectively and realistically. It SHOULD take more time to get ammo out of your backpack then it would your tactical vest, which is designed with ease of access for ammunition and other misc military gear. PS, I know I used realistically alot, just roll with it :P.

Im with sacha on this. Yah, id like this down the road, but, Id prefer the admins work on the actual major features in the game, rather than a animation that could be used with a 5 second placeholder.

Yet we have one of the weapons in the game that earlier models of it were considered some of the worst weapons in the world. *cough* *cough* M4 anyone? *cough* *cough*

Im saying no to strobe light for sure, but not from gameplay. Im saying this because of the epileptic's out there, which this could cause extreme problems for. Im ok with a regular flashlight though :)

The one problem I have with a battle rifle variant is that it would be REDICULOUSLY desired/coveted/OP. Just think about it. A semi automatic sniper rifle (basically) which has the ammo capacity of a assault rifle. Hello bandit lovers everywhere. I like the assault rifle version though. :)

Tempting idea that came to me, so I thought I would combine it into this thread. From what I know, a dart fired from a tranq gun is basically a needle filled with fluid that allows one to knock someone out, correct? Wanna be a real jackass? Take some of your blood and put it into a needle, then fire it at someone. They think they got off easy? Let blood poisoning take them down slowly. Even better, load it with infected blood.

Or, bandit's laying a trap for other bandits. Oh my. Mindfuck.

Im saying NO to this for sure. This takes away SO much from the unpredictability of dayz. The whole point of player interaction is that you DONT know if they are friendly or not at first. If you know if a player is a "hero" then that would be so much less of a....wow factor. Anyways, im sure it'll be made into a mod at some point.

Just because a house is "locked" doesnt mean it should have loot. Dayz is designed to unfair, I think it should stick with the loot economy mechanic, and not have a "treasure trove" behind a locked door in a house. Unless mind you, a player stored their shit there.

Right now, obviously its not possible, due to cholera (I think) being the only disease in the game (other than the wrong type of blood transfusion, or eating poisonous food.) However, in the future, when sickness is implimented, yes, I could easily see this. The cold wouldnt be a GAME changer, but it could mess up your aim enough. Having a cough or a sneeze at the wrong momment could really mess you over....

The hunting scope can be found especially in: The evac site towers in Stary Sobor, and hunting stands. I found a SVD in a heli crash site, which is static right now, there are just 3 locations, located roughly around the northwest part of the map. Havent seen a AKM YET myself, but, as illustrated by your photo, fairly sure they are out there.

This. Pretty much the main reason newspawns attempt to kill.
-
Look up posts using the search button. This has been discussed multiple times since the recent patch.
-
Maybe building the prefab netting around you, or improvising yes, I can see that, as base building will be implimented, and I can see people putting this in. But, as for the whole "digging a hole", im not entirely sure about that. I can see a future engine being possible with it, but its a LONG freaking way down the line, if its going to be even implimented at all.
-
I could get behind this. Although, I feel like the devs would have to finish implimenting the new character models they are currently working on. I dont know if this would be possible with the new system, but, it could be.
-
Id be ok with this, if the tuna would be worth much less than the bacon kcal wise (which would seem to be the wonder food now, with the new patch).

Since we have the ability to change the color of our clothing before we spawn in, why cant we have the ability to change the color of the chemlight that we have? This just adds a little bit of "you" to the character that you have when you spawn in. Instead of a generic "white". This could also be used for clans wishing to identify their own "newspawns" by them having a certain color for their light.
-
Im ok with that too, just a little bit of "different" than the generic white.
-
Yea, I've done it all, or have I? Let's talk Ideas!

People watching, you devious bastard ;) But actually, your shoe thing, I like that. Im thinking of would be making "improvised" mufflers. You can almost improvise everything else in this game, why cant you do this? What im thinking is wrapping rags around your shoes, therefore making things quiet"er". As for me, I usually stock up on gear, and depending on what mood im in, ill either find newbies, help them, or, if I dont trust them....I well.....kill them. Shifty buggers aren't getting my gear. :P
