Why not? Canada actually has some of the best trained regular army units in the world. The soldiers are very well trained. Proud to be a Canadian here. (Canada is also part of the UN, so, sending in UN Canadian troops would make sense.)

Its not "the same". The same would be everyone in electro killing each other. Its berezino now. Duh. But actually, if your anxious to get back to playing, get it done now. I love the game, still do. But if you dont mind waiting a bit, wait for the next stable branch, like I am. Break, play, repeat.

I could see something like weapon maintenance. EG: Using lubricants (get your head out of the gutter people :P ) to clean the gun, etc etc.

No its not realistic. Would it be nice to have though? Yes, of course. Maybe a journal on each of the players bodies when they die. Having some stats about the character. Gives a little bit of background. Dog tags, no. Journal? Sure, why not. We all spawn with a chem light and a rag anyways, why not throw a journal in there.

Trying to resist commenting. Tried. I cant. This isnt COD. If you tried to fire a pistol one handed, without any way of controlling the recoil, your aim would be all over the place. And....it just sounds generally stupid. No offense.

I did some forum diving, and couldn't find a suggestion for this, so im going to chuck it up here. Why is there not MRE's in the game? These things are a staple for any military around the world, and are made specifically to provide the most amount of nutrition possible for a solider in combat. There's some obvious advantages to this, which include, but are not limited to: 1.) Pushing people more inland, getting them off the coast. Why? Because of the fact that this item would spawn EXCLUSIVELY around military locations, or "evac" sites. The milltary would be giving this to civilians in times of need, because of the fact that they are thinking about survival, not taste. 2. Players would be wanting MRE's more, due to the fact that they would (and should) give more kcal, and some nutrition. One MRE could make or break a player. Comments? Opinions?

This makes things a bit more clear. I believe the interest isn't as high for this idea due to the fact that its not a GUN or a new mechanic, just a new type of food. One that would add a bit more realism in my opinion.

This is the forums, not dayz tv. Not everyone follows that.

Well, the recoil on the AKM might set some players away from it :D But, on topic, yes, the CR should have the 18 round mag. And, im assuming that the most common weapons in game would be pistol's, yes. Civilian models most likely (maybe rifles in the more outlying houses not centered in towns, or shotguns. Its very typical to have a single shot rifle or shotgun in outlying areas where there are farms, to protect their livestock from wolves and the like.)

A dufflebag could add another "inventory" slot, although, it could have some downsides. Yah sure, store some cans of food in there, carry it in your hands with your backpack on your back (obviously). Drawbacks? Your hand slot is taken up, and you wouldnt be able to sprint with it. Be ideal for transporting large amount of gear between different locations (eg bases.) But even if those drawbacks arent put in, I could get behind it.

Even though you say we washed up on shore, some of my friends have reported spawning more "inland". If so, if this is true, wouldnt it be cool if there was a few broken pieces of wood/a broken boat by where you spawned? Could add a little bit more of the whole "hey, how did I get here?" aspect to the lore. (Im getting off topic, I know) As for the infections themselves, I dont believe its a very "cop out" moment(in regards to herro123). The only reason I think this is because different people "in RL at least" have different genetic makeups. This allows specific people to be immune to specific things "eg, some people are allergic to certain things, and some are not. Bees yo, bees.".

What are you looking forward to most with 0.58 stable?
Syphonz replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
Anyone agreeing with me that they should do a character wipe for 0.58? Now that EVERYONE seems to be geared from simply one jog through Berenzino, it'd be nice to have another reset. But, what im excited for mostly is persistance to be back and TRUCK INVENTORIES. Lets us "manage" our builds a bit, rather than just carrying everything you "think" you might need all the time. -
Saying no to this. Why? If you die, it would encourage server hopping, which is already bad enough as it is. Cuts down on player time as well, which im sure is something the devs want to avoid. Player approval im sure would be cut down as well. Who the hell wants to stare at a black screen for 10 minutes doing shit all? And later on in development, people wont want to repeatedly kill themselves as fresh spawns, because there will be times when you want to stay alive. EG Soft skills. Character randomization of skills when spawning in. So, no from me.

No matter how good of a sniper you are, eventually, maybe VERY far down the line, you'll be spotted. It also depends on what the other person is packing, and what you are comfy with. Would you rather go against a AK wielding hyped up PVP'er with a Makarov, or a MP5? I think my answer speaks for itself what I think. Take a MP5 with a mag in it, and one reload worth of ammo. Problemo solved. Even if you dont carry a backpack, if you sort your shit out right, you would still have enough food and water to survive. And a high cap vest or a smersh would help out immensely.

For once, I actually agree with herro. Mother earth doesn't have a "personality", its not "trying" to kill you. This is a basic way of saying it but....shit happens. Weather is out there, not trying to specifically kill you, its just happening.

I thought M4's aren't spawning in 0.57?

Im sure a mod will say this, but, you made two different accounts, to post the same thing in two different languages. This is a English forum, so, english only.

Depends as well what you have your inventory key set to. My key is bound to tab, so, if I sprint and press tab at the same, it tabs me out of the game. Check what your keys are bound to, that might help.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
Syphonz replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
Actually, I HAVE done my research into this. Please dont say "I fail to have done my own research." I have seen demonstrated these muskets before, both online, television, blah blah blah *insert media source here*. The model of musket you are considering creating would be as BASIC as you could get. If you can make it notoriously accurate, then, go ahead. Most guns in this game have fairly accurate ranges, so, lets start with the amphibia. Range, roughly, 15-20 m's, which, makes sense. This is a MODERN FIREARM. Now, taken from the show Deadliest Warrior, which is one example, the french musketeer for example. These are trained soliders, who are specifically trained to use these weapons. AKA, the flintlock musket. This weapon was tested by Trauma Doctors, Paramedics, and people who were either experts on the musketeers and their weapons, or direct descendants. As described the experts, the weapon was accurate UP to 100m's, yes, like you said. And those are with TRAINED soldiers. The flintlock musket was widely used in the 17th and 18th Centuries, with some seeing combat as late as the American Civil War. Because the weapon was not particularly accurate, the standard method of use involved large, tightly grouped formations firing in volleys, tactics which proved disastrous when more accurate, rapid-reloading rifles like the Henrybecame common. The musket itself was considered outdated after the American Civil War due to repeating rifles. However it existed in European colonies so that the native armies of those regions didn't have the technology available to rebel. This changed in WWI, as the European empires were forced to modernize their colonial armies for the conflict. Today muskets are sometimes used for hunting but are extinct on the battlefield. Taken directly from the deadliest warrior wikipedia page, and described by them on the show. Yes, some of your points are valid. They are used for hunting, sure. But nothing about them being accurate as you say, beyond 100m's. Yes, targets can be hit beyond that range, but the accuracy drops off dramatically beyond that. Edit: I dont know why the text has a white background. Whoopsie. -
Im liking the bunker and airplane, although I believe there shouldnt be many of them, and the plane should be a static object in game, rather than a dynamic event. I know people might think that would be cool, but, a massive plane like that should stay in one location. It'd be too easy to find if it was a dynamic event, it would stick out like a sore thumb.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
Syphonz replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
There's a few things that we have to consider here still. Black powder firearms are NOTORIOUSLY inaccurate, and this has proven to be so with NUMEROUS tests from numerous people. There is ways to make the gun more accurate, yes, such as grooving in the barrel, and other minor things that can be improved, but still. Yes herro, you have said several times in several threads how inaccurate the bow is and how impractical it is. I get that. You say your a survival expert, I get that. And yes, this is a survival game, that prides itself on realism, I get that too. However, the days have to make some bends in order to have GAMEPLAY. Your right, a bow wouldn't be a grand weapon improvised in RL. But this is a video game, and some allowances have to be made. As for the black powder rifle, its inaccurate in RL, yes you say its easy to make, but, in game, it'd be extremely noisy, very visible, not very accurate, and have a long reload time per shot. HOW many players would use this, other than the ones trying to stick to the pure "living off the land" playstyle. Probably some yes, but not very many at all. EDIT: Spelling. God damnit syph, get your shit together. :) -
Patience, my young padawan. Wait, shit, wrong game.

What I was thinking would be the ability to make sandbag walls. I know there have been suggestions about walls for bases. What I was thinking of a quick "throwtogether" wall that one could build, like has been done in RL. The way im envisioning it is: Character uses a burlap sack (or whatever anyone else can think of that would be more effective). Take the burlap sack to an area with sand (I know it would be possible with dirt, but, im just going with the whole "sandbag" thing.) Multiple sacks create one "sandbag wall". I believe this could be effective becuase of several reasons. 1. Allows players to create impromtu walls that they can use to defend a area (basically when bases come out) 2. Gives players a reason to travel back towards the coast, (which is the only place I believe sand can be found, unless im wrong, I very well could be.) 3. While travelling towards the coast, it can foster player interaction (at least with old players meeting fresh spawns,) since a heavy spawning location is by the coast. I could see myself creating a firing pit ringed with sandbags inside my base. Opinions? Side note: This goes along with the barricades thread that was raised recently, but is something different.

Going to pop in a quick thing here. Wells should be more limited. Why? Your also forgetting rain was in the game, and was only taken out for a limited amount of time. It takes time to fill up your water vessel with rain (like it should) but you also know its safe. Add rain in the game, take out some wells, and bam. We have balance.

end product - how will new players know howto xxx?
Syphonz replied to nl's topic in General Discussion
Yes, but, a tutorial would allow for the extreme basics of the game. that would greatly appeal to the "new players" that want to try the game out, but are too nervous to dive right in. I still learn about stuff I can do in game all the time, and there's already ALOT. There's no shame in doing a simple tutorial, and, by simple, I mean 10 to 15 minutes. AKA Food, Water, Basic Medical, Infected and Weapons.
