    DayZ Movie

If the movie of DayZ represented even a fraction of what happens in the game for most players it would end up being absolutely hilarious. Maybe one of the greatest WTF comedies of all time.

    DayZ Movie

    ^ That's quite well done.

    Stealth kills bug

It's been a problem since it was introduced. It's often pot luck if your toon performs a "stealth kill" or just ends up slashing at a zombie's back like a dope.
  4. There's probably an obvious answer for this, but why can't we zero the CR527 and Blaze rifles down to 100m when using a scope? It makes for really annoying shooting at medium ranges. Also, "just aim lower" isn't the answer I'm looking for. ☺️

    Zeroing on certain weapons

Hmmm...I dunno. I've had some very odd misses at around 150m while aiming lower on the target. Target was static and the bullet impact was above the head when I was aiming below their head. I'll have to do more testing I spose. Still I'd like to be able to zero down to 100m anyway. It's a peculiar restriction.

    STOPPING POWER!

I'm not asking for any of those things. So, no, not "everyone". Volumetric clouds would be nice, but who gives a fuck really. They won't make any difference to the game. The bow will be the first thing dropped as soon as the player gets a gun, so meh. It might be nice to have. But it's still meh. Ragdoll would probably end up looking dumb. It might help a player to know that another is dead, but at the moment, I have no trouble with that and if I'm unsure I'll fire another round. I absolutely DO NOT EVER want to see helicopters in DayZ...EVER.

    STOPPING POWER!

The bottle suppressor has always been absolute bunkum. But I admit that I don't want to see it nerfed or eliminated from the game either. I like how we can suppress rifles that have no silencer 😛 attachment in game, like the CR527 or SKS, which are basically my go to guns. In fact, what I'd really like to see is it expanded so that the blaze can take one.

    Cause of Death/After action report

As the man said, you got shot. No great mystery there. Someone saw you having trouble with the zeds and instead of helping you out decided to shoot you because DayZ is played mostly by a bunch of wankers. 😆

    Please tweak infected awareness

It's gas. Just wait until the infected can hear players open and close doors. The pew pew kiddies will have a meltdown.

Dayz needs a stun gun, let’s talk about it

Shotgun - rubber shells. I've been running around all day "stunning" people.
  11. Tonyeh

    Please tweak infected awareness

They should be MORE aware than they are. They should swarm any player that they see or hear and fuck them up. Stop racing around like your playing some FPS. DayZ is not that game. Take your time. Be quiet. And if something looks too dodgy...just move on.

    Sickness balance?

In fairness, that's the best part of a decade you're talking about. I'm hardly surprised that some people are coming and going on one game.

    Sickness balance?

The wiki is not getting updated because it's a pain in the arse that's all. Besides most people will just see what WOBO has to say about the new tweaks. And the wiki was never accurate. Even in 2016.

    Decrease desire to KOS constantly?

Unfortunately none of that will change the nature of the game for KOS'ers. They do it because that's all they know. 1.) If you mutilate a toon, the player will probably just suicide and start again. 2.) Having a toon's loot destroyed when they were killed never stopped KOS before. I remember years ago wondering why players just killed other players when they could farm nothing from them. The thing is, it didn't matter. They were going to kill them anyway. The same thing will happen if that's brought back, even though I would have no objection to bringing it back. 3.) This going unconscious thing that was brought in a few patches ago has ended up being completely useless. All it means in reality is that the shooter just either shoots you again or runs over to double tap you. You usually end up dead either way. If the player ends up captured, then all that happens there usually is that they will want to get revenge and they'll do that on the next person they see. Hence perpetuating the KOS cycle. 4.) Few players will risk trying to render another player unconscious as opposed to dead, even if there were the tools available to do so. Most people who shoot on sight don't even care about the gear the other players are carrying. There are players that spend hours camping on hills shooting other players running around town and never once moving from their spot 5.) I think that this will end up just annoying people TBH. At the end of the day, it really depends on the person in the game and what kind of a person they are. If all they care about is killing another player, then that's exactly what they'll do. If they want to try and talk to other people, they they might do that as well. It may even come down to how that player is simply feeling at the time. I've shot players on sight. But I have also talked to other players too. I've just finished running around Iztek with someone I've never met before. But I could have easily just shot him the second he ran into the building I was in. There are a couple of things that I'd like to see that might make more players talk to each other. A.) Get rid of VOIP outside of the game. If you want to talk to someone, you have to talk IN GAME or not at all. (how that's done, I have no idea) B.) Make the infected more numerous and more threatening with a chance of infecting you with their disease. If you fire your gun, then they should race to the spot where you fired from within normal hearing ranges. Imagine taking a shot on some toon and then having a swarm of 20 zombies come racing toward you. Plus, smarten them up a wee bit. No more jumping on a hessian bag or a wall and taking pot shots at them until you kill them all. That would soon cut down the amount of KOS that goes on. Really though, if every encounter ended with people being friendly, DayZ would be kinda boring.

    Sickness balance?

Don't be fucking ridiculous. There's more people playing the game in the last year or so than I can remember in the last three years. The Esseker and Namalsk servers that I play on are stuffed every night of the week. Spaggies, ZERO and DayONE servers all have queues for people waiting to get in. I wish more people would abandon the game. Then I wouldn't have to wait to get onto the maps I like.

    Sickness balance?

I think that there are just too many regular changes to the game that updating the wiki results in a never ending full time job done for free.

    Sickness balance?

If you empty the container completely, the contaminated material is gone. Simply fill her up at a well and you grand. The illness causing matter is the liquid in the container, which will give you cholera. Not the container itself. Salmonella you only catch from eating bad food or eating food with bloody hands.
  18. Tonyeh

    Sickness balance?

@DayzDayzFanboy Yeah, I might get the odd cold if I'm unlucky at the start of the game. But that's hardly the end of the world. I got salmonella and Cholera both once and made sure that was never happening again cos they were a pain in the arse. I've yet to get a wound infection. @DefectiveWater I think far too many players try to play the game at top speed and as if it's just a combat zone. Twitchy feckers that can't wait to be be fully geared and go off to kill another player. So, often they end up screwing their own toon because they have no patience to build it up properly. Depending on what map I am on, I'll generally play it slow and stealthy and I'm careful with what I do. I usually get out of the rain, especially a heavy downfall so being wet is never an issue for me. I won't engage players until I can do so properly and even then I'll tend to avoid them because death is so easy. I won't bandage a wound with dirty rags and I won't eat with dirty hands. I also don't drink potentially contaminated water. All of which means that most of my toons live pretty long lives. That's not the case on the likes of Esseker though. But that map is just a deathmatch because it's so small and there's no point in playing any other way. But yeah, as much as I love the game, it really is the most pointless exercise because once you've achieved a certain, state there's nowhere to go. In the past, I've "opted out" as well cos I was as geared as I'll ever be and there was just nothing else to do. And I've tried to shake things up a bit by restricting myself with certain toons. For instance, one toon I only allowed carry a Winchester rifle and I dressed him only in civvie gear. I wandered the wilderness hunting and fishing, but I only took one piece of meat from every animal I killed and I didn't take any canned food to eat. It meant that I had to constantly hunt for food and live in the wild. I didn't drink from wells, so I had to make sure that any water I drank from lakes and ponds had to be purified first. Plus I didn't allow him to repair items or fix his rifle with a cleaning kit. Once something was kaput, that was it. He'd need another. The problem was, even with all of those self placed restrictions, I still didn't have that much trouble surviving. There were more than enough rifles around and .308 is stupidly abundant. As are clothes and animals to kill and eat, so I was never actually that hungry or exposed to long to the elements. I had a tent in the middle of nowhere that was a base, but I would store anything in it except bottle suppressors, of which there were loads. Whoever found the tent must have though there was a madman living there. 😆 Recently, I've found myself more and more on Esseker. It's a very simple play loop there. One of get a gun and go and kill players until you're killed yourself. There's a very quick refresh rate on the loot, so starting over isn't a big deal when you inevitably meet your end. I guess I'm just a little bored with Chernarus these days. And while Banov, Deer Isle and Namalsk are great maps, once you get to know them, the fun of exploring is gone. Also, with the assets being the same on each new map, it can feel a little stale at times unfortunately. Takistan was a little bit of a welcome shake up as far as environment is concerned, but that seems to have been a bit of a flash in the pan as few players are on that map now. Spaggies Takistan has 1 player on it at the moment! And ZERO have nuked their Takistan map for some reason (probably low traffic).

    Sickness balance?

I almost never get sick in the game. I don't understand how some players can't avoid it.
  20. There are animals all over the place. You can't walk 100 yards without hearing a chicken. Get a knife...a stone knife will do and you have everything you need for killing chickens, gathering wood and cooking the food. It really isn't that difficult.

    Screw this

DayZ attracts all sorts, from people who'll go out of their way to help you, to actual sociopaths who'll sit on a hill for hours waiting any player at all to wander into the telescopic sights, and everyone in between. It's that randomness that brings us continually to the game. You really don't know what you're going to get in a toon's lifespan, which can last anywhere from minutes to months. There's really no other game like it and that's why it's stood the test of time. People like the OP are just playing the wrong game. That's all.
  22. Tonyeh

    Screw this

I'd say that they see a few uploads of some player's greatest ever moments in DayZ, where they're fully geared with every gun imaginable and kill everyone easily and think "that's the game for me! I'll go around shooting everybody like a champ and I'll be great!!!" Then they buy the game, log in and either die of starvation or get mauled by a bear... "fUcK dIs sTuPiD GaMe..."
  23. It's been going the way of PvP for years. You might as well get used to it. The simple fact is that after you find a knife and a few chickens, you never have to worry about food ever again and the cold ceases to be a problem once you get some decent clothes together. So there ends up being nothing else to do for most people and they turn to PvP. There's also the problem of the more stupider side of the DayZ "community" who only ever saw the game as just another FPS, because pew pew is all they have ever done in any game. I've pretty much confined myself to Esseker lately, because it does away with all the pretence of what DayZ was supposed to be on the likes of Chernarus. Esseker is just a small PvP map so you don't waste your time trying to play the game any other way. Most people find a gun, any gun, and then go looking for someone to shoot at...rinse repeat. The new map, Banov, is the largest map in the game and great for exploring. But north of the main city it's practically empty, because everyone is in the large town trying to kill each other.

It saves you only until the player runs over and puts one in your noggin though. So you might as well shed the weight and keep the stamina. I'm still in two minds with the whole shock damage effects that were introduced a couple of patches ago.

The unconsciousness thing is pretty much a nonsense in the game. It makes wearing armour practically pointless. You get shot, and then have to lay there helpless while the player walks up to you and shoots in the head or just shoots you again from afar. It's mostly just putting off the inevitable for a few seconds. I just don't bother with armour any more. All it does is slow me down now.
