  1. They should all kill you. What's the point in them otherwise? I'll never understand why the devs decided to make them pacifists. Being overwhelmed and killed by the infected should absolutely be a way to check out on DayZ. As it stands you can just let yourself get knocked out, then wake up, dust yourself off, and carry on...la de da. They might as well just take them out altogether now.
  2. They still need to kill you when you go uncon though. The nerfing of the infected is still one of the worst additions to the game.
  3. Maybe if you stifle it too hard you end up farting instead. 😆

1.19 Stable Release / Wipe News

Well, the guy I had was mainly living in the wild and I stashed all my loot in wooden boxes on the ground in the very far North. I was on a Dutch server with a massive clan who were competing for resources with me. This was also back in the days when hoarded weapons stopped them from spawning. So I had to make do with lower tier stuff. I spent most of my time using a Winchester and a Deagle (when the Deagle was a one shot beauty, before the nerf!) Often I'd sit atop a hill and look over Cherno, watching this clan build their walls and stuff and I'd pick off a few. I'd sometimes try a little raid on their massive base too. I managed to steal a couple of AK's that way. I killed a few of them in their cars as well by haunting the road blocks. But I suppose that they just respawned and headed back to their base to tool up again. The closest I came to getting killed was when I once logged in north of Cherno and heard several voices chatting. I was in some bushes and they didn't see me. But they've must have been searching for the guy who was knocking them off. That was really tense because it became a bit of a cat and mouse game until a fire fight broke out. I managed to get away with 4 bleeds, red flashing blood and health, and nearly all my clothing ruined. That was a long walk home. When I logged out I was shaking. 😅

1.19 Stable Release / Wipe News

Wipes are a pain in the hole for sure and I've lost characters that have been months in the making. One guy was on the go for nearly six months and on the server I was on, there was a huge clan that had basically walled off the entirety of Cherno. I'd watch them from afar toiling away, occasionally taking one or two of them out. Imagine how they felt when the wipe happened. But these days, I just consider them the end game of DayZ. If I make it to a wipe then I've "won" the game. My character made it out alive (let's say he was rescued) and it's time for a new guy to try and survive til the next wipe.
  6. My Hummer got nicked. Probably by some teenager. 🤬 But I'm in a truck now. 😊 Vehicles are handling very well so far. I think the devs have done a great job over all on that front.
  7. I think cars are spawning fully intact on Livonia, so you may not have to go through the usual rigmarole. Since last night I've found 2 ADA's, a Sarka and the new Humvee. The Hummer is great and it's and automatic too.
  8. I hate to be that "fix the cars" guy, but they still need looking at. Took a wheel off of an ADA to repair it and when I put it back on, the car skated away from me and only stopped when it got stuck on a tree, where it became stuck and wouldn't budge no matter what I did. In fairness, I killed a guy and stole it from him...so, it's "karma" I guess. 😐
  9. One thing I would really like to see is the durability of certain objects increased, especially now that a huge amount of loot is essentially damaged junk. A "Worn" kitchen knife shouldn't be "Badly Damaged" after cutting just two T-Shirts into rags. In fact, why can't players not just rip items like T-Shirts into rags with their hands? Surely, that's a possible thing to do?
  10. I've no way to quantify it, but I think I'm getting more kills because people can't simply mash the A and D buttons and jink around like maniacs.
  11. Liking the new inertia thingy, even if it sometimes feels very skatey? But I find I'm getting caught on objects far too often and it means I have to log out if I can't jump to move again. But the state of loot in 1.19 needs looking at. Nearly everything I come across is Damaged or Badly Damaged. I think that needs to be tweaked downwards a good bit. Other than that, 1.19 has been fine.

    Stab Vest OP

Very little in the game makes sense. You can make rope from people's guts for god's sake. You can make a "bone knife" by presumably rubbing two pieces of bone together.

    Running power attack range

Yeh. Needs to be seriously nerfed. Although the way to dodge it is to simply run toward the guy doing the power attack. They'll miss every time. You end up having to do this silly dance with all the dickheads in the game though.

    Eden Map What happened?

Well, fuckin hell, I was enjoying that map.
  15. Have to admit, I'm not at all enthused at the grenade launcher being included in DayZ. It's just going to end up in a load of knobs camping in certain spots and getting kills without even trying to be precise. Lob a grenade in the general direct of a player and you're almost guaranteed a kill. Edit: Just saw that the claymore has a damage radius of 30m. FFS.
  16. There's always been people that played the game as a shooter only. Mostly because they have no idea how to play any other type of game. I've been playing this thing since 2014 and there was always the crowd that were only interested in getting a gun and heading down to Cherno or Electro. On the other hand, my original interest in DayZ was nearly as a single player game. I loved the sandbox apocalypse atmosphere and the survival aspect of it. But over the years that has become less and less because on "normal" DayZ, survival is simple. In fact, it's easier (and much cheaper) than my real life! LOL. Things go so easy in the game that I had to make things artificially harder for myself by not picking up canned food and the like and only living off the land. Even with that, I found that my toons were living quite comfortably within a pretty short time frame and the only thing I had to combat was boredom. These days the highest pops are in the likes of Esseker, where there's nothing else but PvP, and it's telling that that map has become my most played map over the last year or so. This is mostly because the PvE element of DayZ is pretty much dead and it will probably stay that way.

    Stable Update 1.17

Was food and drink altered again in this patch? I know 1.16 fiddled about with it a bit, but it goes down insanely fast when you're at full white now. It's bloody ridiculous TBH. A player cannot stay full white hydration/calories for longer than what seems 20 minutes or less now. What the hell is the point in that? Also, can we please do away with that fake full stomach symbol please. It's a massive pain in the arse. The symbol should only appear when the player literally cannot eat or drink any more. As it is now, it's just annoying.

Is Zagoria a new map on console?

It won't be on console. But the guy who made the Deer Isle map is working on the Zagoria map I think.

Any community vanilla 1PP servers? (PC)

If you can't do Spaggies or Zero servers then try DayOne. They're based in New Jersey I think. Their Esseker map is hopping every night of the week.

    Stealth kills bug

They'd probably hear you before you got near enough. Seriously, they'd want to be the absolute worst DayZ players ever to fall prey to a "stealth kill" in this game. It's a nice idea, but it wouldn't work...unless players could be made absolutely silent and that's not going to happen because it would impact elsewhere.

    Stealth kills bug

The only human players that the stealth kill would work on are those that are AFK or asleep.

    Ban Russian Servers

I'd say that there's a sizeable portion, if not an outright majority, of Russians who are against the war in the Ukraine. I can't imagine any of them, except the most base level knuckle draggers and brain washed idiots who would be in favour of this conflict. A needless conflict dreamt up on the whim of a thoroughly reckless leader, with no clear and definable goals, that has served them no real purpose at all and has seen the country become a global pariah. The problem is that the Russians have no agency to act on any opposition that they might feel. People, right now, are being arrested for merely saying that they don't support the war. Just imagine what would happen if there were actual efforts to "put pressure on the situation internally"? Putin has no qualms, whatsoever, about coming down hard on any dissent in the country with regards to his war and has made it very clear and the bottom line is that the average Russian has no actual realistic line of opposition to engage in here. However, banning a load of DayZ'ers who just want to play a computer game would do absolutely nothing in that regard. All it will do is piss off the people who enjoy playing the same game as we all do.

    DayZ Movie

Yeh, +1 for Black Summer. Probably the best thing zombie that I've seen in ages. Even if they are the run around types and not Romero ones. But there were times that it did feel quite like DayZ. As to an actual DayZ movie, you're correct. The writers have everywhere to go with it because there is no story. What will happen, though, is what happened with WWZ. It'll just be a name rape. A popular title used to sell something that will absolutely nothing to do with the original item.
