They're attacking me just fine.

Yeh, I couldn't see him when I logged into the main menu screen. So I just logged onto my last server from the server list menu and he's on the main menu now. My name has disappeared though, but who cares. I thought it was going to be like the old days, when an update wiped absolutely everything. It didn't really matter then. But it does now.

Always got gloves. 😁 The fat's just been cooked and the status if baked so it's going in the belly. Don't know why I never ate it before. But, it is taking a LOT of food to fill up my toon's stomach. Seriously 5 venison steaks in one sitting?

Quick question for people who know. I just started a session and it appears that my nutrition level from last night (Full) has plummeted. In about 10 minutes of play, my apple was in the yellow and my hydration was in the yellow too. I think your geared character is starting like a newspawn nutrition wise, which is not good. Luckily, I killed a deer. I got 5 steaks from it and some fat. I ate all the stakes - My apple is still not fully white. So, I am going to cook the fat. Question is, can you eat the fat? Never tried before, but I don't want to bugger my geared character up with some disease. He took a long time to get geared.

Just started and no. If you jump onto the last server you were on, you old guy will be there.

Did characters get wiped?

Is it 4 hours for some things and 8 for others? Or is it somewhere between 4 and 8 hours for each object?
-
AFAIK, it's 48 hrs that items last at the moment. This is getting drastically reduced in the next patch.

"In Cherno..." "I moved to Berezino..." There's your problem right there. Get off the coast as soon as you can and move inland. You're wasting your time farting around in those areas.

He tried to ambush you, with a cold? WTF? "I'll just sneak up on these guys now, they'll never know what hit em.....ahchooo!... ...oh bugger..."

Nobody has ever said this.

Yeah this. I really don't give a crap about cars in DayZ and I'm bemused why it is such a source of ire for some players. I can get all over the map just fine on me old legs. It isn't THAT big. However, I found an ADA and decided to fix it up for the laugh. So I went through the rigmarole of getting the stuff I needed, radiator, spark plug, fuel etc. I got everything ready, started the engine, moved slowly off and barely struck the car against a fence post... fuckin thing was totalled. That's the first and last time I'll be bothering with cars in DayZ.

Well, players aren't going to have the option of mortal combat with zeds anymore, cos as I understand it, player hands are going end up bleeding if they get into too many fights with their bare hands. Things are going to be a little tougher starting off, especially when you spawn with a load of badly damaged clothes. My current toon ended up with a cold cos he spawned with a torn up T Shirt and a pair of nearly ruined shorts. As far as fruit spawning in concerned, it takes a bit of getting used to. You basically have to run up and down orchards to make the fruit spawn as trees only put out if a player is near. So, getting to a big area where a lot of fruit spawning trees are is a big advantage and you can stuff yourself enough to get to somewhere that will yield some decent loot. But I was the same, I didn't understand the mechanic either and used to just search a tree's vicinity, find bugger all, and then run off in a panic. -
LOL, the image that conjures up. I can just see someone racing into Cherno with a rag in his hand..."Come on muthafukas!!!!"

Don't bury your crates. Hide them under a bush as best you can. Any crate I've buried has been found. The ones I leave above ground don't.

"the non-naive players" 🙄 Fuckin hell.

It's more than possible to starve to death as a newspawn. I lost a geared toon a few days ago and went through two newspawns before I got a third up and running properly. I think your starting pos has a lot to do on whether you find food easy or not. The third toon started north of Cherno and there were enough trees to give him fruit enough to head up to Zelno, where there's a huge orchard, and he gorged himself on more fruit. Then he found a knife and all was well. Winner, winner, chicken dinner. Spawning in parts of the west coast, it isn't so easy. -
"Naive"...LOL. I've been playing the game for 6 years, and I play ONLY on official servers from New York, to Holland to Germany, etc, and I have seen no hard evidence of cheaters. I know that cheating exists, because I've seen YouTube vids showing such things and sites selling ESP and aimbot crap. But I have never seen them in the actual game itself. Report numbers are nonsense, because they are only allegations mostly, and completely free of any actual evidence.
-
I'd question most reports to be honest. I've been playing this game since 2014 and I can say that I have absolutely no hard evidence of hacking, despite losing characters in some dubious circumstances. I lost a character a couple of weeks ago. I logged in, in the middle of a field, in the middle of nowhere, on a low pop server, and as soon as I was in I heard three distanced shots and my guy was hit in the chest and the head. Now, I could scream "aimbot" and rant about cheaters. But I have ZERO evidence to back that up. I reckon a lot of these reports are down to people getting killed by unseen players and immediately getting salty and crying foul, but with nothing tangible to back up the claim. So report numbers are pretty meaningless.
-
Well, to say it was irritating would be a vast understatement. But to lose a highly geared toon that way was..."irritating". Anyway, tried another fire last night and moved way back from it before I lit the match. I could barely, just about, get the "Ignite" option. So, I lit it and got burned again. I didn't die this time though, as I immediately ran away from the fire, with my character taking damage and going "ooh...ahh..." I don't know if it's just the server I'm on currently, cos I've never seen this before, but something certainly seems to be off. For the time being, I'll be cooking everything in a house. I can take losing a toon to bears, wolves, other players, my own stupidity...even cheaters. But to lose one to shitty code in a game that's been in development for nearly a decade is nearly enough to make me quit altogether.
-
So this is not an experimental bug, but on 1.09, I've lost two characters. One fully geared and one newspawn. Lighting a fire, if you're too near, you'll take damage. But even if you move away, you'll CONTINUE to take damage and bleed out and die. Ridiculous that something like this happens in a game that's 8 years old. Haven't tested this in 1.10.

I've yet to actually bother building a base. To all intents and purposes they're kinda useless, so I've heard. It's basically advertising your gear to people who'll happily spend a couple of hours knocking the shit out of your walls to get to the goods inside. And if you're a lone wolf, like I am, the chances of you being around to protect the base at all times is nil. So far, I've had success just leaving my stuff on the ground.
-
Cheers. I thought there was going to be a second lot zapped. I'm on one at the moment and I don't want my toon to vanish. 😄

Which temp servers are getting removed and on what date?
-
I've been there on occasion. I rarely travel to coastal areas TBH. But I tend not to find that many dry bags. Most probably the servers I was on. For the time being, I'm happy with the crates. They can be almost invisible under a bush or a tree, whereas the bags are brightly coloured beacons. Haven't tried building a base yet. Had a tent for a wee while, which was fun. But that got nicked as well, so there's not much point in doing that again.
