There could be a little bit more magazines around, I often find different weapons and bullets, but no magazines. I like the bicycle idea. Would it be too bold to ask for a motorcycle too? As this is Czech based game, then a Czech Jawa for example, or even a Russian Ural with a sidecar, or as a very rare find an old CZ. Would be so cool with the helmet and riders jacket.

Did anyone see a Mosin, Izh or FNX45 since 0.55 global loot update?
Herkyl Puuro replied to SonicSonedit's topic in General Discussion
I play in private servers only, and have found quite a few Mosins and ammo too in last few days. Saw an AKM cpl days ago in a heli crash site. In next heli site we looked there was a FNX-45. But I haven't seen ammo for .45s at all since 0.55. AK-74s are literally everywhere but mags, not so much. MP5 is I think the most common weapon for which you can find magazines and ammo boxes easily. Only shotgun I've seen since 0.55 is the one with pistol grip. -
Aha, I didn't know about there had been a salt talk already. But agree with pretty much everything you said. I do carry a cooking pot when I go hiking, because I drink a lot of coffee (which they could add to the game too to give energy bonus) but it's definitely not necessary to have a pot to cook a steak or a fish. Even with the pot what I do is, I find two big rocks with a smaller than my pot sized empty space between them, and put the pot on top of it, make a fire, and then move hot coal under the pot. This is just to keep the pot clean from smut so I can put it inside my backpack. If there are no rocks around, then two thick pieces of wood will do.

Was not playing for 6 months... what's the Top 10 things I should be doing?
Herkyl Puuro replied to cuddly_rabbit's topic in New Player Discussion
Try another server, some have great loot, some have enough and the rest seem to have very little to none. I don't know why there's such inequality between servers, but I feel bad for guys running the ones with no loot, as players seem to disappear from them. Hopefully they'll fix this asap. -
To be more realistic, this could change, like meat could spoil after a while. Then devs could add salt as a new item to the game, and by adding salt players could prolong time it takes for cooked or fresh meat to spoil.

So, last night in Chernarus was special. I was carefully scavenging and sneaking around in Svetlo-Karmanovka area in the north. Didn't meet, or even see a single soul in any of the cities and villages, but clearly there had been others. I found some nice items, like a bulletproof vest and attachable pouches for it. I was going slowly westwards, and even set up a camp where I left an AK-74 and some other gear. Then there was a message from the admin, BBQ party in Cherno fire station starting in 30 minutes. Everyone's invited, guns lowered. The whole thing smelled like suicide to me, but as they say curiosity killed the cat. It was as long walk as they can be in Chernarus, but I thought there's an opportunity to scout heli crash sites when I return back to north. If I return. To make myself a less appealing target, I left pretty much all my good stuff to the camp before starting to run south. It was already evening, so it would be pretty dark by the time I get in Cherno. I picked up an SKS from the airfield near Krasno, and some bullets for it. I was carrying a Blaze, so this was an improvement for the scenario in which the party in Cherno would turn sour. After the airfield I managed to take a wrong turn, and found myself in Berezino harbor area. Carrying two rifles I didn't check compass as often as I should have. From Berezino I ran pretty much directly to Dubky, only paused to drink, and to shoot an occasional zombie if it was directly on my way. So, about an hour later I reach Dubky, so I am very close to Cherno. An hour late from the beginning of the party too, but my thoughts were, that if the party is good it's still on, and if it was to turn bad, it had done that by now. I was curious. I ran further south until I reached the coast, and then headed towards the fire station which lies in southwestern part of the city. While I'm still in west side a single bullet hits ground near me. It's a clear miss, impact sound is weak and there is no gun shot. Felt like someone was really reaching with his gun. I change the street and get some buildings behind my back. There are no more shots. I move more carefully to southwestern part. Area near the fire station looks peaceful. I sneak around for a couple of minutes, and see no one. I advance quietly and stand a while beside the building trying to listen to give me a clue is there anything going on. There is no talking either. Hmmm. I stay in shadows for a minute, and then open the door holding my SKS down, but in my hands just in case, not knowing what to expect. I'm ready to greet, and ready to open fire at the same time. Nothing had prepared me to what I was about to see. Had the party turned sour? Well yes, it had, indeed. This, I thought, could be a worst case dictionary definition of a party turning sour. Or, if this was Mexico, and it was the day of the dead, then it would be a great party. A big scattered bunch of bodies lying on the floor. Must be over 20 of them, in this relatively small space. One guy going around, alone, checking their gear, in a seemingly careless way like this was normal. I talk to him, he asks do I have any idea what has happened here. "No man, no more than you do. Looks like a party turned into a massacre." I move through the room towards the stairs. People brought so much stuff, and almost all is ruined. Many, I suppose, brought their goodwill too, and that was ruined as well. By gunshots. Maybe there were couple of bad guys lying on the floor, but when a massacre takes place it's usually the good people who die. I don't know what exactly happened, but fuck them snotfaced dimwits who caused this. It's the easiest thing in the world to ruin a party, but you really need to be an asshole to do so. In a post apocalyptic world it doesn't take any guts to ruin a party, but it takes some guts to go to a party. So where are the bad guys now? Some guy starts to talk from outside of the building. "The whole building is surrounded." First I think he's one of the bad guys making a threat or something, but I sense a gravely disappointed tone in his voice. "You guys started to shoot!" I talk with him and tell I just arrived, and he accuses me of lying. I tell him I just came from up north, and for me it doesn't make a difference if he believes me or not, but it's okay for him to pick up his gear if that is what he wants. He decides to do so. I find a pristine ballistic helmet and take it from a dead girl head, and put it on. I don't care to loot the bodies, but you know, the situation being what it is, I just wanna have a helmet on my head. Another guy comes in, starts to talk about what's going outside, I turn to look at him, and BOOM! Someone kills me. With a single shotgun shot from behind. I have a ballistic helmet and a plate carrier with them pouches, and a backpack full of stuff, but one shot is still enough. So much for protective gear in Dayz. Bulletproof my ass. I respawn in Cherno, it's already night and dark outside. I run back to the fire station pretty much directly, in the center most likely the very same talentless sniper takes another shot and misses again by at least 10 meters - I guess he would be better off hunting barns and immobile busses. This time I don't even count him as a threat. But when I get back to the station I have to dodge multiple shots and bursts from assault rifles, and even see some of the guys shooting at me. I pass by a friendly in a press vest, who warns me not to go in, as the building is surrounded. Then two attackers spot us and I split, some shots are fired, I can only hope the guy is okay. I manage to go inside unharmed. There are more people this time, mostly other newborns. I don't care to talk to anyone, my corpse is already looted and the guy who shot me might as well been one of the guys who are inside now... so many aholes in this world, and so few bullets, and even fewer clips and magazines. I just pick up a backpack, then find a working Blaze and some bullets for it, and climb to the tower. Watching outside I count at least four guys with guns running around, and take shots at two of them, and hit one at least. I plan to kill them all one by one. Suddenly I hear several bursts fired downstairs. Probably couple of the bad guys rushed in to shoot at the bunch of survivors trying to pick up some loot from the floor amongst the bodies. Maybe they'll come up here as well? I turn to watch the stairs, the first to come up will be the first served. Then server goes down. I guess admin decided to cool down the situation. Today, after a nights sleep I woke up in the same tower. There was no one around, and there were no traces left from the last nights massacre. I started my long walk back to north. Where I like it best. But you know, it might take a while before I visit another big party... [Do I have any screenshots? Nope - and I regret it. Also, would be cool to hear of other people who were in "the party". Haven't joined ts yet in that server, so if someone who reads this was there, please tell about your experience here. Other comments are welcomed too, would be interesting to know is this like the typical outcome of parties in Chernarus. Or was this text just too long to read lol]

I've been eating a lots of berries since 0.55 came out, and haven't got sick. Like apples, they seem to satisfy thirst a bit better than hunger. edit: Have to add that picking up berries is really time consuming, I seemed to find apples faster, so I would stick to apples just to be safe. Then again, berry bushes can hide you better than apple trees while you're picking up fruits, and you can find them not just in yards of houses or sides of roads so they are safer if you want to avoid other players. But you should consider apples and then berries as the last resort anyways.

Can someone please help me understand "persistence"
Herkyl Puuro replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
Looks like some persistence issues are being solved... https://twitter.com/dayzdevteam/status/585788451150266369 -
I can imagine you got to give the benefit of the doubt, but stay highly vigilant at the same time... I bet many people try to take the bullet discount lol

Lol yea man, makes more sense now )))

.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.
Herkyl Puuro replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
I guess both lol The server Boneboys mentioned in earlier post seems to be working well. I played like 5-6 hours there, and have now a repeater with cpl boxes of ammo, a Rak with three clips for it, can opener, and hey: SMERSH backpack+vest combo! In that server I also found 22 sporter and some ammo for it in less than 30 minutes, after I started there. But what seems to be in all servers that in military areas there is not much military loot. Police stations and some prisons seems to work well in some servers, and in some servers they are empty even you go there after a fresh restart. Police cars are good. Heli crash sites I hear are good, but haven't ran into one yet. -
Thanks Haven, this is all good stuff. I'm going to start a new guy in a private server with currently no loot in it, and have a new operation with these survival tactics. Funny about the human meat, I was too suspicious to try it when I found some, so I just threw it away to have more space in my backpack. With this information, looks like it was the right choice.

Armored, silent, ninja, stealth zombies + no loot = win?I
Herkyl Puuro replied to Insane Ruffles's topic in General Discussion
If you read the changelog you'll see that there says "Central economy" under New Mechanics, and "items not spawning at proper places" under Known Issues. Which you can summarize means that at the moment loot is broken because of the new unfinished loot distribution system and devs already know about it. So you can expect a fix for it. -
Ah spoiled kids, they think everyone is like their mom, who they can ask money from and then tell to f--- off, and then apologize when they need money again. Good job with this one!
-
Damn! Wow! That was fast! Well zombies aren't too difficult to kill, you just need your fists and three hits in the head. But looks like zeds can do it too!

Heya everyone! I'm 45 yrs old guy from northern Finland, the real survival zone lol I do hiking and some climbing in rl, would like to hunt too but I seem to lack either money or chances, so this kind of outdoorsy game where you can shoot stuff is very appealing to me. Also in last years I've spent a lot of time travelling around in the Eastern Europe, so, environment in Dayz feels a bit like home. I've stayed in towns and villages which could be in the game. I wouldn't mind living in such a place tbh, I consider my own country a great place but all too clean and organized. Used to play last year with my buddy's computer, but this year bought up-to-date laptop so I'm gettng more into the game. 300-400 hrs in total so far. Usually I don't shoot players unless I feel threatened, but when I start to shoot... a line is already crossed and it's too late for talks anymore. Good luck and good loots to you all

How do you trade exactly? Do you barter or do you use some kind of currency, such as bullets?
-
Ouch that hurts to loose a whole camp! I tried another server and at least loot seems to be working there. Haven't seen any hooks though so haven't even tried fishing yet. Thanks for the heads up tho. Yup, I hope they release a hotfix soon just to fix the missing loot and also the fishing bug.

.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.
Herkyl Puuro replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
I don't know which servers you play in, but I play pretty popular ones, and I can't find anything anymore, not from cars, not from toilets, not from guard towers, not from hunting stands, not from the sides of certain buildings etc etc. There was loot still few days ago, but now there just isn't. In addition to guy I have in publics, I played also in few private servers, so I had few characters with not very special but still okay gear when the update came last wednesday. Now all of them are dead, one was killed by the invisible zombie, which is always hilarious. And I just can't find anything for the newborn replacements. The game at the moment is picking up apples until you get killed by a passing by player. Or then you have to fight enough zombies you run out of rags and finally bleed to death. -
As I belong to older generation I wouldn't mind to try fishing or farming, but I can't find tools for it. No hooks or rope for fishing... no pickaxes, shovels or garden lime for farming. No axes to cut wood, no pans or pots to cook, and especially no weapons for hunting. And I haven't seen a hunting knife since 0.55. Well now I haven't seen any kind of knives, just couple of thermometers and books in about hundred houses and flats I checked today. Couple days ago I found a backpack which I could tell belonged to a cannibal sniper, as there were lots of of 7.62x54R ammo and human steaks. Times are hard for bandit snipers too. One thing I learned it really takes a lot of berry picking and apple picking to satisfy ones hunger. About the same energy is wasted as you get trying to find these fruits.
