If people want to gimp their field of view by playing First Person Only, let them. It doesn't make them any more badass or any more hardcore. It just makes them refuse their peripheral vision as first person in Arma 2 isn't anywhere close to realistic field of view. -
Uhm... OP, do you realize you already do this when you right click and convert in the first place? You just hit R and it refills your current ammo... Have you not played for very long, or? If you have 3 magazines, at say, 100 rounds, and you use up 50 rounds... And hit R... It will put your main round back up to 100 by refilling from the others... The mechanism already does this.

Crossbows. Please spawn quivers of bolts, instead of singles.
LordRayken replied to vulfy's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Rocket does not want to implement this because the Crossbow is a one shot kill and makes absolutely NO noise, none, zilch, zip, nada. If he were to give a player a Crossbow with 5 or 6 rounds and make the Crossbow more accurate, it would be pretty unfair, especially with recoverable ammo. I almost made this thread a while ago, but decided not to because there are more important issues right now like more melee weapons and lower spawn rates on most guns. -
The zombies are retardedly predictable. It would be a much cooler system to have a town look empty, and then zombies spawn behind you when you least expect it and grab you, similar to old time zombie movies. It would make going into town a lot more cautious event even with a weapon, because zombies could just pop right behind you. And I hesitate to say this, but, mutations would also be cool, harkening to Resident Evil. For instance, the occasional super zombie or mutated zombie beast. I don't care about players going around to shoot/kill me. Haven't you seen Dawn of the Dead? Gangs of people go around with high powered guns and rifles, looting the shit out of places and killing anyone around them. Survivors have to fight back against those bandits with guns as well. The games true to the genre in that sense.

A temporary morphine substitute makes less sense than taking less damage from a zombie hit while drunk. The whiskey effect you want only gives you a boost, with no penalty, and it replaces morphines usefulness. No one is ever going to implement an item that does something another item already does. The only and best bet for a full whiskey bottle is to have it induce blurred vision and give you more tolerance to getting hit by zombies.

I don't think the amount of gear is a problem at all, honestly. Even with an alice pack you're fairly limited. Taking away object slots is forcibly imposing roles on people by making you dictate who carries what, and that's stupid.
-
The point of this game is not to forcibly relegate roles but let players adapt and utilize anything they need at any time in any way. This is a sandbox multiplayer game, it's similar to the old Ultima Online and new Minecraft, your character is able to do anything you want him/her to do.

Fishing and Farming are a yes. Fishing nets would be awesome to throw out in the ocean or ponds, as well as fishing poles. I'd also love to see the ability to throw a net into the ocean while on a boat. As for farming, I know I've seen patches of pumpkins or something. The graphic could be reused for personal patches. Fishing would take a long ass time, similar to fishing in real life. You sit around for a half hour and catch a single fish, or if you throw a net, even longer for a few fish. Fish would be raw and have to be cooked like raw meat. You'd only gain a little bit of blood back, maybe 50-100 from a fish. As for farming, you would lay down the seeds. They should implement something like a watering can that you have to use on it, and then the next day cycle, the vegetable would spawn there.

Full Whiskey Bottle, Effects: Blurs/fogs vision/makes your aim shake a bit but allows the drinker to take less damage from a zombie hit.

The silent but strongest weapon?
LordRayken replied to Scratchz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
DO NOT USE A BIZON. I repeat, DO NOT USE A BIZON. They are terrible, terrible weapons, take many many shots to kill zombies and players, and are very inaccurate. The ammo is rare for them as well, and they are just generally a terrible weapon. I say terrible a lot because I mistakenly used this gun for a longer period of time than I ever should have. The M4A1 CCO SD is the best suppressed weapon in the game. It is fairly audible to players who are close by, but not like an unsilenced weapon. Your bet for a sidearm is the M9 SD, as it's the only silenced side arm. If you plan to use any silenced weapons outside of the M4A1 CCO SD and M9 SD, you're in for a pain. The MP5SD6 is utterly silent, but it borders the Bizon in uselessness. The M4A1 CCO SD can kill with a few well placed shots, it does not take "6-8 shots" to kill like a previous poster stated. The Bizon and MP5SD6 however, do. Again, Beware the Bizon. It is a -terrible, terrible- weapon. I would honestly take a Crossbow over the Bizon. -
Derp, wiping the servers wouldn't fix the duping glitches. Learn to play and find downed heli's and get NVG's on your own. My group only takes one night of loot cycling to find good stuff, we don't dupe.
-
Two things that really need to be fixed are the fact tents don't save and the graphical glitches. If you don't fix the graphical glitches, I can't even really play. HELL no. I literally JUST got the helicopter, it was JUST released. Why the hell would he do that wipe when I went through all that effort? Screw off.

What the hell happened to night servers?

Thanks for using flares. It's people like you who show me where to snipe at night. -
What the hell happened to night servers?
LordRayken replied to aesaunic's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Very few people like night time servers. The only few that do have night vision goggles, and those get old because of how much they limit your vision to a small circle. -
An ATV,4 Camps and a truck full of guns!
LordRayken replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
With a Helicopter, everything on the map is yours. You can literally fly over every grid area and see anything below you. I'd imagine that Blue Ural Civilian will be found very quickly with a few fly overs. -
It's not bannable, but it's incredibly fucking unfair to use an AS-50 with Thermal and that's why only hackers bring them into the game. If you continue to use it, more power to you, but holy shit that's ridiculously stupid.

SWIMMING ZOMBIES? - DayZ - Part 1 (w/ Drew)

I've seen enough posts from the guy above me, spamming his clan thing with only 10 posts. We've seen enough. -
Alpha has nothing to do with this players problems This player is simply bad at the game and went into the game entirely uneducated, thinking he could play it like any other game To -everyone- who keeps saying shit about "Alpha," please, re-read his post. His entire post is about mistakes HE made, and HIS lack of knowledge. Nothing about the game having glitches due to Alpha. Please. Stop saying "It's Alpha" to someone who is a bad player. Alpha has nothing to do with this players gameplay experience.

The Game Is Now Un-Playable.
LordRayken replied to Chewbacca Jesus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Uh-huh. You just labeled the game around Design phase, then. Meaning it's not even an alpha. So, he's calling a game that's not finished in its design stage an alpha, so it's actually being labeled as something that should be much farther along if it's only 10% complete. An alpha is basically 100% complete and contains all gameplay elements and design functions to be tested. You should just calm down when you try to talk technical about "alpha" and "beta," as both are terms used by developers to initiate hype. Most if not all of the time the games you are playing in "alpha" are not alphas, plain and simple. It helps when a player thinks they are testing something or in on something new or unfinished. In reality, it's just a buggy mod. It's not an alpha, it's not a beta. It's just a concept phase of a mod. Unless of course, it's more than 10% finished and Rocket just says that on purpose like *cough* Notch *cough* used to or many other developers that use the term "alpha" for a game thats basically in the end stages of a beta test and "beta" for a game thats a finished demo yet to be released in most cases. -
The Game Is Now Un-Playable.
LordRayken replied to Chewbacca Jesus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Alphas don't typically include game breaking glitches, because they are meant to be played and tested. An Alpha means the game has moved past the point where a glitch can occur that will make it entirely unplayable. The kind of graphical glitch that is occurring is a broken file in the patch. Also, this isn't an alpha, and the term "alpha" is thrown around in the developer community now so much it's lost its real meaning. It barely even registers as a Beta. It's more like a glitchy mod for Arma 2. -
Looking for: Somebody to hook me up with a Sniper-Rifle...
LordRayken replied to paxtonmega's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
How old did you say you were? 12? Nah. Your profile says you are 21 but in a post recruiting for your "clan," you say you are 15 years old. Nice try, though. Your post is a blatant lie. You made up everything you wrote and listed off all the snipers in the game and just thought because CZ 550's are weakest they must be the most common and therefore said they were "uncountable." In order to have that many weapons/ammunition stored, the tent city would need over 100 tents in it. You said each gun has "1000s of ammunition," so divided by the 6 snipers you listed, thats already putting your tent city at 6000 rounds of ammunition. I didn't count the m107 ammo being divided amongst the M107 and the AS 50 because you said EACH sniper has 1000s of ammunition. A single tent can only hold 50 (maybe 53?) items and 10 weapons. Just to have that many snipers, the tent city would already need at least 10 or 15 tents, so we can place your "tent city" at having around 150 tents in it, if the camp has roughly 50 CZ 550's considering you counted 46 DMR's, and it has an "uncountable" amount of CZ 550's, it must be higher than 50 but that was a rough estimate. Nice try, again, however you may want to age a bit before you post things that outrageous again. -
"Age RL: Wouldn't you like to know" Yeah, you're definitely trustworthy.

You have to talk in this game in order to coordinate positions or anything else. You can't stop to type when you're being shot at by bandits or attacked by zombies. You have to be able to relay locations over voice chat. If you are self-conscious you are not going to be able to team up with a group. If you are not a very chatty person, then don't talk, just listen in on the chat and respond with "yes" or "no" and the occasional, "HELP, AT ____ LOCATION." You need to get over this. If your family or whatever hears you talking, tough stuff, and if the idea of talking to guys online when you're a female isn't appealing, then again, only speak when you NEED to, don't respond otherwise. It means nothing that you are online playing video games. You have to get over it if you want to successfully group. I would never play with someone who had to stop to type in the middle of a fight to tell me information about the attacker. Not only that, but if you are killed by an attacker, theres no regroup possible or information relay possible about the attacker to your team-mates - because you're dead and they are still alive in game worried about what just happened and they have no idea what just happened. Sorry, good luck chatting in game, but it won't work out. Person A is going to meet Person B outside Cherno. Person A sees someone on the hill, the same hill Person B said he'd be on. Person A minimizes the game to send a steam message to Person B. Person B says, "That's not me on the hill." Person A quickly maximizes back in. He's dead.

Wow... their are some real pieces of shit out there
LordRayken replied to xaian's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Did you just say you were in Balota and got shot? And you're complaining? This is just as bad if not worse than someone complaining about being shot in Chernogorsk or Elektrozavodsk. Don't go to Balota. Spawn as close as you can to Kamenka and head north. Check the deerstands on the way to Pavlovo and stop at the grocery in Zelenogorsk, then head to Stary Sobor and camp it for about 10 minutes before moving anywhere near it. Do it on a low pop server and take your time because you will probably get shot there. You may make it out with some good weapons, though, and you can move on with your game. Going to Balota, whether it be the four deer stands south of it, or the airstrip, is suicide. And again, a word to the not so wise; any area that may have players who are going to kill you where you stand, sit and camp there for a while, watch for movement. Get a pair of Binoculars. It's REALLY quite simple to survive.
