    Trackir for post-1.0

Just adding a vote/reminder that I hope trackir functionality will return at some point in the near-ish future :) (if there is anything that makes it work that I am not aware of, please let me know). Thanks.

    Where are all status reports?

The URLs have changed. "/blog/" is now "/article/status-report/". There do seem to be some older status reports missing, however. They appear to only go back to June of this year.

Weapons like axes, hatchets and blades

Indeed (not sure if they intend to keep it that way, now that they've introduced sharpening stones). I have done it for sure on the previous stable patch. I don't remember if I've tried it on the current stable patch, or not.

stones you find on paths and sharpening stones are two different things. Sometimes, I see quite a few sharpening stones. Others, I don't find them. I haven't seen one in a couple of days on my current run. (Duct tape still works for repairing axes and the like)

    I want a car, but

In the vanilla game, cars are meant to be kind of an end-game gameplay item. They will be rare and it will take time to find the parts to get it working as a result. Item rarity/availability will be moddable on a private server, however.

    Perdi minha base!?

Persistence is not working very well, yet. Bases and tents can disappear. You might want to wait for a patch to correct this issue before you invest too much time building a base.
  7. Seems they agro more easily the last couple of days. Agro one, and it causes others to become alert as well. I just had an experience where one chased me into a building. Before I knew it, there were six at the door. Had to shoot my way out... then, a straggler, annoyingly pinned me against a fence whacking the crap out of me for a few seconds. Was a pretty cool encounter actually. I would have expected to have taken more damage though. All that happened was my pants got ruined. I should have been lucky to have escaped with my life, or without some disease or serious wounds. Like how alerting one brings others (even without gun play). Dislike how puny their hits are / the lack of lasting damage that needs medical attention.

I can't change my game version through Steam

415 is the current stable version patch. The problem is, the official (stable branch) servers have not been updated by Gameservers dot com, yet.

I am just curious to know when we can begin to expect some genuine performance improvement (as the engine moves away from RV). Thanks.

    Oil Barrel ?

I only have "damaged" barrels that I am using right now, so (as mentioned in my post further up) it could be a possibility. I've seen a worn barrel, but I left it where I found it. So, I haven't tested out that hypothesis on any other type of barrel. Btw, I assume others have noticed that all of the barrels say they have varying amounts of "liquid" in them if you view the inspect popup. For example, "around 72 l". So, the whole filling/draining seems to be bugged. I've also tried pouring liquids into them, or pouring it into another container (i.e. jerry can), but it is always met with an "I can't do that" type of message. Cooking pots seem to work for containing and removing liquid...

    Oil Barrel ?

I always close my barrels, but I've noticed things inside them still get wet.

Need help with server start time

probably just matters in terms of time of year, which would impact the time the sun rises and falls. (I've at least noticed as much when making missions in Arma 3).

    Oil Barrel ?

It seems that part of the barrels is bugged (putting in/getting out liquid from them). My stuff gets wet/damp in barrels as well. Don't know if it is a bug, or if it is intended (rusty old barrels). I am able to store stuff in them, which persists. I have also crafted a few things in them (tanned leather, leather hat, and leather backpack). The lid has to be closed, IIRC, for the crafting to work, though.

Dynami.... Scratch that, static truck spawns.

I see plenty of trucks around (mostly on just one server, but I have seen them in different locations on another server). I have three batteries. I just can't find a glow plug. Sounds like we have the opposite problem :) Truck spawns seem to be in different places, depending on the server (from what I have personally experienced so far)... On the server I play on, I have seen them near the tents @ NWAF, and in all of the towns surrounding the airfield to the south (from Lopatino to Stary). I also saw one in kamenka earlier tonight. As you come into town from the North, there was a grey one, right in the road.

    Server Hopping - Simple proposal

I'm sure it is a bit of a challenge to adequately address server hopping. But, as a simple "solution", what about just implementing a 5 minute wait time for spawn if you switch servers. The point being, if you have to wait 5 minutes between every server switch, at a certain point, the time spent waiting = time wasted as you begin to reach a point of parity where it is just as quick/quicker to stay on one server and move to a new location. I haven't thought it out in detail, and I know it can cause the occasional inconvenience if a server you were playing on goes offline or something, but it seems it would (at the very least) diminish the amount of server hopping. An exception could be: if you've not been in a server for 5 minutes or more, then you clearly shouldn't have to wait. Basically, something along the lines of (pseudo-code): If leftServer == true start counter if (counter == 360) stop counter if joinNewServer check counter while counter < 360 !spawnPlayer else spawnPlayer Do you want to wait 5 minutes in order to server hop and do two minutes of looting, or would you rather just play the game at that point?

    Server Hopping - Simple proposal

    Interesting idea...
  18. I would just like to see the fear factor approach a level of parity between zombies vs. players (which one, I am more scared of as a player) by the time the game reaches gold. More specifically, which one I am more scared of killing me. Humans, being complex creatures have many more reasons give pause when you encounter them. A world where kos isn't the first and (pretty much) only option (still an option, though), and where zombies are more than a mild annoyance when looting. I understand and appreciate that other players are ultimately the thing you have to be most wary of, if for no other reason than they are complex/thinking beings. Though, I'd like to see zombies be more than a minor nuisance, and players actually be more of thinking beings. As it stands now, player interaction is the same thing as an encounter with a zombie (only with guns)... A mindless killer... I'm ok with kos being an element of the game, but I would much prefer if it wasn't 98% of all player-to-player interaction. I know they are trying to work towards that a bit (and electro pvp'ers can have fun with that when the game is moddable). It is quite a challenge, though, to make zombies more threatening without it being at the expense of lone-wolves and fresh spawns. It is also a challenge to encourage other types of interaction among players without stripping away the freedom of choice. I like the freedom of choice. I would just love it if (like in real life) actions have reactions, choices have consequences (good and bad), and KOS wasn't the main focus of the experience. I get that some people like that. I even appreciate that it should be an element of concern as a survivor (there are sadistic murderers in "civilized" society. No doubt, they will exist in a post-society scenario. Additionally, moral lines become a lot grayer for some folks when their safe existence is torn down). But, they've been pretty clear that this game (the vanilla version) is meant to be a hardcore survival game. (I don't mean to start another pvpve argument). That is the experience I am buying into (early). And, (right after performance, b/c... bohemia) it is the gameplay element I am most looking forward to seeing as a priority with future patches. It will be interesting to see how they move in that direction in the coming year.

    Server Hopping - Simple proposal

I've had two public servers I was playing on go dark for the same reason in as many weeks.

    Server Hopping - Simple proposal

If someone would rather loot for two minutes, wait for 5, loot for 2, wait for 5, etc, instead spending that time actually playing the game... well, that's their problem :) The problem with removing the hive is that there seem to be a large number of servers that suck, have shitty admins who ban you if you discover their camp (happened to me the other night, but a friend went in and stole all their shit after they said they banned me "because you looted our camp" :) ), hack, don't pay their bill and get shut down, etc, etc. Every time you switch servers, you'd have to start as a fresh spawn. That would be fine, were it not for the above which can cause a lot of server changing. I've also had a hard time finding a decent server that I like to begin with. I think there is ultimately a better solution to just doing away with one of the core elements of the game (not saying my proposal is *the* solution, or even *a* solution. But, I don't think you have to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Especially, at this early stage, where there are far too many variables, unknowns, and bugs.

    Toilet loot explosion is back?

I haven't found loot in an outhouse since they rolled back to the old loot system.

.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.

For the most part I've enjoyed the increased challenge of this patch, however, I have finally experienced the can't find food issues, spending hours picking apples and sweating it to the next town. My first character that lasted a bit after the patch was doing well, but I blew all my food trying to save the life of a fresh spawn friend who had fallen unconscious due to starvation. After the long run to get to him, I started to become hungry. I spent the next 5 or 6 spawns dying within 30 minutes while trying to find food (anything really). Then, I had gotten a sickness that lasted for hours and hours (never did find a cure after probably 8+ hours of game time). Was spending 30-45 minutes at apple trees to get just enough to make it to the next town. Managed to gather up some of my old stuff and get it relocated to my home base, and then just had to let him die. The sickness part that wrecked my hydration.... that was fine, and cool... But, the dying 5 times in a row of starvation (and I'm not a pvp guy, or someone who just hangs in big cities... I actually prefer the survival aspect of the game) was a bit excessive. Then, I finally spawned in a place where I could get to some food (and lots of apples) before dying of starvation. There are times where it is extremely difficult due to lack of food, depending on where you spawn. Picking apples is very tedious, but possible to get enough to make it further inland, but the threat from zombies sometimes cuts those apple picking sessions short. My suggestion. Apples should have a higher success rate per pick attempt. Perhaps there is a possible number of apples per tree per x minutes that can be harvested. Perhaps what makes a less than 100% chance per pick, is picking rotten apples half the time. Apples should provide more food energy though, imo... Especially, since it's all you can do to get started if you are unlucky enough to spawn in a dead zone. 15 apples didn't even make me energized, but did make my hydrated. I wouldn't mind more scarce food than there is now, even... but, food should last a long time. Considering you can survive for weeks without food, perhaps a better approach would be worse aim, slower speed, and other side effects when you are not fully nourished.
