Most detested item in Persistence
8bit_Survivor replied to Jonah_Hobbes's topic in General Discussion
Lanterns are real! I seem to find these things everywhere. I may try to make lemonade out of these lemons though. Fill a mountain backpack with them and light up every house in Vybor :) -
Working on AI for animals and infected I believe.

I hate DayZ but I love it so much...

Dean was always planning on leaving. He actually stayed longer than anticipated...knowledge is power! -
Should DayZ 1.0 feature events and world cycle?
8bit_Survivor replied to Coheed_IV's topic in General Discussion
No need for cycles to push/move the loot. This will happen dynamically through the CLE. I would like to see weather changes according to a seasonal cycle. -

Much of the desync is caused by server side performance issues as stated by Hicks I believe. New renderer should help a bit though as will moving the scripting over to be hard coded into the engine itself. -
What is the final goal of this game?
8bit_Survivor replied to darlonian's topic in General Discussion
I liked Stryker7x's suggestions. I often stalk players, go sight seeing or claim a town/city for my own. (Severograd is my fav). Helping players is also fun. I never kill myself, my goal in this survival game is to survive as long as possible. But finding a fresh spawn and giving them all or most of your gear is a good way to reset. You might even make a friend. If I find a fresh spawn trying to suicide for a better spawn I will break their legs, bandage them and tell them they are playing the game all wrong. ;) -
The Bone Condition Stat (Why you get one hit)... Why does it exist?
8bit_Survivor replied to Beizs's topic in General Discussion
When I first saw WOBOs video I assumed it was to help with players surviving too long. But if they want fresh spawns they could've just wiped during Wed maintenance...either way it will be fixed with .56. Never experienced this myself thankfully. -
What next development milestone gets you most excited?
8bit_Survivor replied to ebrim's topic in General Discussion
I am most looking forward to animal companions, along with improved animal AI and predator animals. This will open up alot of new gameplay options. I can't wait for my first death by wolf pack :) Also looking at the new stamina and inventory/weight systems. These mechanics will change how/what we loot and should bring some interesting choices that most of us never had to ask. As for technology...new renderer & improved SFX! EDIT: Almost forgot shelter building! -
Sorry he had to go out that way but loved the story. Look forward to your next series Roach!

Look forward to attending for the first time!

i would like to start a discussion about the current looting mechanics...
8bit_Survivor replied to joe_mcentire's topic in General Discussion
Perhaps there will be a hybrid system of vicinity and world containers. I don't like the searching system though. I would rather open the cabinet and just look with my own eyes. A timer/progress bar while searching seems unnecessary and would be contrary to a minimalist HUD/interface (breaking immersion). In the end a middle ground for usability and immersion must be found, good luck devs ;) -
I will be throwing in the ocean more as a form of protest. With the new loot economy it will not spawn another until has decayed though right?
-
Zombies in military areas have been drastically raised from what I hear as well as highly populated areas getting a higher zombie spawn rate. (If anyone knows differently please let me know) Zeds also seem to be much more sensitive to gunfire, the come running really quick especially with multiple gunshots.
-
I will be depositing each one of these I find in the ocean as well. I don't think this weapon has any reason to be in Chernarus. Have you seen the homes in Chernarus? Can't nobody afford a firearm like that....this isn't GTA!

The most perfect summary of DayZ in less than 2 minutes!
8bit_Survivor replied to therunningmanz's topic in Gallery
This shows that the biggest obstacle for DayZ isn't the mechanics, the engine or the system design.....it's the players. -
The more BI stays to making a -harsh survival anti game- the better. Not sure how likely that is to be honest. We already have 3PP (bleh!) and now talk of a stealth meter and stamina bar :( Even with those implemented, if they get the loot structure and crafting systems correct it will still work out to be a great survival game! Players will almost always take the path of least resistance, it's up to the devs to decide what path that will be.

looks like .56 will be a character wipe..saw msg in server earlier
8bit_Survivor replied to thewire's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for clearing that up SMoss! This wipe is a very good call. If we are getting new loot system and fixed the duping than let's get back to zero and give it a honest go! -
The server my mil tent is on is going dark! The owners were nice enough to change the server name alerting players of this and was able to get the weapons I needed out of it!
-
This is simply a flaw with having player rented servers an option. These things are going to happen. I still don't understand why this server structure was chosen for a game like DayZ. Works well for FPS games that aren't persistent loot based like CoD/BF etc., but not a game like DayZ(MMO). Play on Official servers to avoid this...if you like low pops. If you have a server favorite even if it's name changes it should remain on your list.
-
If server admin have control of this I think they will just keep it at Summer months for long days less rain. I don't think they should have control over whether or time. These aspects are very important to the core of what DayZ is, right? Or do I not fully grasp the goal of DayZ...-harsh- survival?
-
+Beans, new clothing variations and variety this could create would be cool.
-
I agree, for a survival game they are adding a lot of high maintenance automatic weapons. Lots of great ideas here, especially interested in that Bundle Bow. More improvised weapons & crafting please. The new inventory matrix is most likely the first step towards this.

I would like to see it be very dark at the beginning of the night but have the gamma slowly rise as your eyes adjust to the darkness. Not to the extent you can now ofcourse. This would give opportunities for varying degrees of visibility throughout a session. When being exposed to flashlights/streetlights (electricity in the future?) you would lose this gained visibility due to your eyes adjusting. **The addition of red light flashlights could be added to lessen that effect and allow you to better maintain your *night vision'
