Day Z as it should be : The Earth Abides

+1, you have my beans sir. Maybe the new helicopter that is being added will bring us more towards true survival....
  2. Try to think about it in terms of distance, not time. As stated we currently run extremely fast which throws off time calculations.

    No Server Hopping?

Yes, the current server mechanic defies logic and balance...but it's what we got and I don't think it's changing. Private hives are a better choice. This setup comes with lots of loot balance issues but it also helps push you out of your comfort server to interact with new communities. Most other games have 1 char per server with no problems. DayZ chose the path less traveled. Since returning from my hiatus I have been playing Public...because I love being trolled by tweens and KoS'd constantly. Also for the off chance that I meet Rick;)

    Where is everyone?

Inland...stalking you....watching you...leaving cans of peaches in the house just ahead of you...

The Zombie Hunters: DayZ's least acknowledged play style.

I often found myself clearing towns for the hell of it. Had lots of fun with it but I am definitely a player of all styles. I find the PvP aspect suffers alot for me without the infected. The we're the icing on the cake for me that made PvP encounters even more intense. When the infected come back to chernarus, so will I.
  6. TS, and other like it, is 3rd party software that gives you an advantage over other players making it a cheat. No way to stop it though. Most players are cheaters ;) Using only in game comms is more fun & challenging imo. Most players will always take the easy way out?
  7. Don't feel bad...if you don't want to be KoS don't drive a truck into a military zone ;)

    Regional loot?

High population on the coast along with everything being looted causes more loot to spawn inland. This is an effort to entice players to experience all that DayZ has to offer by moving inland. (*subjective comment*)Instead of pretending DayZ is a DM FPS.

Ok, so all that seems to happen in this patch...

    Tomato gardens for the win!!!

Radios : A Cure for Player Interaction

Really hope this works out! Great idea for starting gear!

    DayZ Stream Content

Make PvP more interesting. Bored of hearing streamers say things like "He's moderately geared, take him out" Then they go to the corpse and he has a crow bar, bomber jacket, and dry back. Yeah, moderately geared, any excuse to shoot first. I enjoy Sobieski, who recently started streaming. When he plays DayZ he is an actual bandit. Robbing people and only killing as a last resort. His DayZ content is miles beyond that of most other streamers. M1ndr is as well, he does interact and looks for 'bad guys'. If you have a mission it is easier for me as a viewer to be engaged. Running around KoS is very boring to me.

    Harsh Transition

I agree with Deadjuice. I almost always prefer interaction over KoS. But if I meet someone who keeps moving all over like a twitchy crack head, they are dead. Can't trust crack heads, I prefer to stay in partial cover and just don't sit and talk with anyone for too long. This isn't a social club anyway. Ask what you need to and move on. If you're gonna team up do so but figure this out as quickly as possible.
  13. Mechanics and Systems come first. Then bug fixes. Then atmosphere.

    It's happening...

First, I will probably starve to death...after that I'd like to try the hermit lifestyle again. See if I can survive indefibately without entering a town or major city. If that works I will then set about testing out and trying to break/bug out any and all new features.
  15. I could see a news, medical or police helicopter being possible options. Perhaps in the larger cities a secondary building is added to police stations and/or hospitals with a helipad. Larger hospitals would have these for use in life fighting critical patience.Small single engine planes at NE airfield abandon on the strip perhaps? I agree that the addition of flight has the ability to derail the current gameplay mind you. But like everything they add it's all about finding the right balance of maintenance/repair difficulty and rarity. Maybe a chance while flying that you rotary or engine seizes up ;)

Questions I should probably know the answers to

Landmines/bear traps do not work on zeds. Worms if your not healthy can give you 'medium' food poisoning. Stay energized and hydrated and you will be fine. Worms are covered in bacteria after all.

    My problem with DayZ Standalone

Am I the only one who feels separating PvP oriented players from PvE oriented survivors is a terrible idea? The mix of playstyles is what I feel makes DayZ SA such an exciting game environment. Seems like a poor reason to push MOD support. Also, what Beef Bacon said.

    Working cellphones

Cell phones would be moot as almost everyone already uses TS. If you don't know, TS is 3rd party communication software which allows information to be to be obtained and relayed between survivors outside of the predetermined developed in-game mechanics. OFF TOPIC: Music instruments would be great. Will help me find camping groups of survivors looking to have a good time and forget the horrors we are currently facing....and kill them!

"Blunt / Sharp" melee damage properties

Could you imagine the rage from players dropping dead a week after surviving a melee battle against someone with a sledge hammer? I myself would find this to be a great mechanic. To have your survivor slowly deteriorate as the bludgeoning you took in melee takes its toll. Perhaps spending downtime in/near medical facilities could help survive from this? Long term injury care is a survival element that seems seriously lacking in the current builds. Even leg breaks should reduce your speed for a set amount of time while the splint allows your leg to heal. Sorry for getting a bit off track. So bludgeoning would be deadlier in the long term and piercing/slashing in the short term? Ofcourse I suppose impact location would need to be taken into account.

    Primitive Shelters

Would love to see this kind of shelter building implemented. Nice post!

Failed Hold Ups – 1 vs 3 heavily armed players / dupers [9:51]

A few less dupers, Chernarus is a better place! GG

    Vision nerfed yet again?!

As would I BlackLabel! Unfortunately I don't think any devs would jump in on a thread that has broken down into an argument like the one seen here.As far as those bringing up Battlefield as being a more strategic game...no...no it isn't. The BF series as with most online shooters (CS, CoD, R6, etc.) is very much reliant on map knowledge over strategy. I am a BF veteran from 1942 on (still haven't picked up Hardline tho) and am in no way saying these games don't take some skill. But I have found after learning a map my K/D improves dramatically. DayZ battles are much more dynamic and fluid in my experience. Sure you still have campers, but for the most part I find every encounter to be unique. BF and other shooters are much more linear when it comes to the evolution of a firefight.

What is it that drives you to play DayZ a lot?

Yeah I guess your right. Never looked at it that way :)
  24. Statements like these do not help the case of 3PP advocates, it defies logic and reason. 1 - Imitating reality, as it was previously used, does not mean that it is a replication of the world we live in. Imitating reality or simulation is an attempt to imitate a living persons perspective and abilities within a predefined game world. Not necessarily our world. 2 - 3PP is considered a crutch because you are able to use it to gain situational awareness without risk. For instance, when I am in a major city I will run into a corner with walls on two sides of me, alter the camera and get a 360 view of my surroundings. This includes objects being obstructed by walls or bushes. Even if those obstructions are taller than I am and would norally obstruct my vision. To be able to gain that important information in 1PP would require much more work and risk. This causes you to choose for yourself whether the reward outweighs the risk(something the devs talk about regularly, most recently as it pertains to firing your weapon). 3 - 3PP in now way imitates real life more than 1PP. Saying this only hurts those of us who are presenting legitimate arguments for the inclusion of 3PP in this survival simulation called DayZ. Situational awareness that is more like what you experience in real life? Perhaps but you can remedy this in 1PP with a combination of FoV and using Alt to look around. My personal keybinding for this is MouseButton#4. Easier to use on the fly when I play 1PP, which is probably 25% of the time if that. TBH, even when I play 3PP I usually loot buildings in 1PP. 3PP fluctuates with ceiling height to much for me and I can become disoriented(in game not IRL).

What is it that drives you to play DayZ a lot?

I do create a character but I haven't really tried out any role playing yet on DayZ. Most RP servers have way to many requirements...I am not making a Facebook account just to play on your server ;) Could be a good way to switch things up though.
