So the other night I was sitting here playing DayZ, when I spot a survivor in the distance. I thought to myself, if only we still had side chat I could just yell something at him in that and usually they'd answer. But sadly side chat is a thing of the past, but has anyone playing the game ever thought it would be a nice idea for the PLAYERS to come up with a universal sign of peace, something that everyone knows as "Oh, he's friendly" even outside the range of direct comms. It could be something as simple as leaning left and right a few times. Of course, if this idea is liked, it's gonna have to be used and spread so people know what it means. I imagine too that some people will say that bandits will just abuse it to get people's trust. Yes I agree it probably would be abused by bandits, but then again it might just stop someone from shooting you who thinks you'll shoot them. Leave suggestions below as what would work as a good unviersal peace sign.

Worst thing i did was befriend a guy with an M16 in the balota airfield. He gave me a blood transfusion and his spare pistol. After that another suvivor with just a hatchet came along saying friendly too. While in one of the hangars, the guy with the M16 was giving hatchet man a bandage. I decided to shoot the M16 guy in the head, then spray the hatchet man down. Thinking I had killed both of them I started looting only to get a slap of a hatchet a few seconds later. I was knocked unconscious, but when i awoke he got a swift bullet to the head while he was trying to get the M16.

Nice idea although I think the ammo box should take 2-3 slots in the inventory

Sick and tired of these threads lately, I can tell you an xbox would explode if it tried to run the ArmA engine let alone DayZ. Some people need to realise that some games are just never coming to consoles. Maybe its time you sold your shite xbox, saved for a while and then bought a PC.

Yeah you could implement something like a whistle or clicker, but im trying to get something that us the players can do ourselves, theres enough different actions in game that im sure we could come up with something.

True I suppose, even though to salute, its a complete action on its own. At least with the leaning you can still aim and shoot if they aren't friendly.

Yeah, It would be awesome if you studied the body and found info like "The seem to have been killed from shots to the <insert body part here> <rough estimate of how long ago here>"

Me and 2 friends were ambushed by a lone sniper in elektro once. The only thing we had between us was a CZ 550 and a handgun. My friends distracted the guy on top of the fire station, I shot him, and when we looted his body he had everything you could ask for.... NVG's, Rangefinder, ghillie, M4 CCO, M24, lots of food and drink too :D + meds.

Really nice idea, would be cool to have them set up somewhere so you knew when people or zeds entered.

lol... well off you go then.... just do some 10 minute coding for your quick fix to the problem. Im sure the guys getting paid to make this game haven't tried yet.

Spread this around guys. There needs to be some form of barter in this game official or not. Besides, if no one uses this, then rocket will hardly implement. Spread the word :D

the traumatised soldier thing sounds like it would be very diffivult to implement. Not sure if I like the idea of food rotting either.

I too, think it seems a bit pointless. Like cmon, levelling up. If there are no benefits, then whats the point apart from other players and you knowing how long you've played. you also mentioned using the levelling up as a way of tracking your accomplishments and stuff but is the debug monitor not that exactly ? Now, if there are "perks" to ranking up, you will have virtually turned the game into an RPG with zombies (like skyrim/oblivion) where you will have people grinding for xp or awards and level 1's getting destroyed by higher levels. Also the thing with permadeath is, its SUPPOSED to be a punishment for dying.

Nice to hear a story like this for once, last night I helped a guy from zeds and we went to his friend who shot me, almost killed me, I killed him, then the guy I helped shot me in the back. Helping people doesnt always reward like it did here xDDD

I was playing on a US server as it was daytime, minding my own business in elektro while looting the corner shop/house by the supermarket when some idiot comes running into the town screaming for help on direct chat with about 8 zeds chasing him. I responded and he asked me to help him so he went on top of the office/school (whatever you want to call it) and started shooting zombies (this was all in first person btw as 3rd person was disabled). I stayed in the corner house for a few more seconds picking up mags for my makarov while i heard him shouting he was going to get down, next thing I heard was his legs breaking and "OH SHIT" over the voice comms. I went in, used most of my makarov ammo apart from 2 mags and he gave himself morphine and we cleared off the zombies. I asked the guy if he was okay and he thanked me. THEN he said my friend was also shouting and I laughed, he said "Oh, hes just in the supermarket", so I went with him there. I saw his friend lying down at the entrance in and the two of them said "Oh im so glad to see you guys," when the other lying on the floor said "You know my facepaint right? " Then the guy lying on the floor with a double barrelled shot his two shots at me, injuring me and bringing me down to 43 blood ! His shit accuracy meant he couldnt even break my leg nor kill me, so instinctively I emptied a full makarov mag into his head killing him. The guy I had helped only two seconds ago said over voice, "hey hey hey whats going on??? " and I replied "I dunno dude but I guess im on 43 blood now" quite angrily. I then moved further into the supermarket, as zeds were moving in from his friends shotgun gunshots. I moved to the back of the store to reload my last makarov mag to shot some more, but then the guy I helped shot two bullets into my side and killed me. Its just horrible crap like this is ruining the experience for me and also a lot of other people. Some will agree with me on things like this, others will be just like "Lol, n00b stfu and just play".

Believe me dude, I couldnt care less about losing a makarov with no ammo, just the attitude of the guys in the game is what's pissing me off so much. I suppose its just to be expected from this game now.

I got what I deserve ?? are you serious dude ? Its attitudes like that is the reason this happens so much in game.

Even though I rather some bugs be taken care of first, I would like to see this in the future.

I've survived on DayZ for a little while now (longer then usual) and if have some decent supplies. While in Balota airfield I was on top of the control tower just after looting it (found nothing) and I was shot. The guy was a horrible shot and he didnt either break my leg nor kill me. BUT... the predicament I am in now is that I have a flashing hunger bar, as I have nothing to eat, and only 3k blood left. I have at least 2 blood bags and 2 morphine on me. If anyone is willing to come on a server with me tonight and be in balota airfield in the second floor of the control tower to give me blood and some food I can help you with any supplies I have. I know its a longshot, but if you can help, leave your steam ID here and il message you tonight.
