And I thought I was the only one who didn't disable it entirely. :D I prefer it at about 1/3 of default - it's immersive and provides me with a sense of movement while not being too intrusive. Hail the TrackIR brotherhood! Playing without it is like having a sudden bout of neck arthritis.. (I play 1pp servers exclusively) The only major problem I have is with how twitchy the melee combat is in 1PP - I get neck pains from trying to keep track of someone who's dancing around me 3pp-style and swinging indiscriminately. I find it works best to conserve my movements, wait it out and let them punch the air - then land one or two precise head punches at an opportune moment. With TrackIR taking care of the limited FoV problem (I keep it at default), the only other issue I have is the recently nerfed naked eye 'zoom' - makes scanning so much less reliable and forces me to go in with less situational awareness than I'm comfortable with. I was already slow and deliberate before the change, now I've been slowed down to a crawl.. :( P.S. If the heavy breathing annoys you - GOOD! Better unlearn the habit of sprinting everywhere before the stamina system is in. ;)

I'm not sure you fully understand the software development lifecycle. Beta is usually the bugfixing, balancing and polishing stage. Adding anything major at that point is rather complicated and counterproductive, will require refactoring or even rewriting a lot of code, and will likely shift the entire project to the right by weeks, if not months, for every core mechanic introduced this late.

I wouldn't mind if the game stayed Alpha throughout all of 2016 and even 2017, if that meant that more mechanics were added to make it THE survival simulator. By which I mean a game that gives you a hardcore, authentic experience that's applicable IRL, a game you could bounce your survival ideas off before risking your own tush in a not-so-virtual SHTF scenario. A civilian VBS, if you will. For that, it doesn't need to be balanced or 'fun', just FUN.

Does that mean I can have my jacket and vest back? Also, since my character is still there, I could probably help with hauling goodies to the new location — be a mule, as it were..
-
Is it going to be on a private hive, like last time? The event day is drawing close and 0.56 is nowhere near stable yet.. :(
-
It's mostly my own fault. I took off my backpack, vest, rifle and axe when I got to the campfire. On the ground = up for grabs. :D Plus the server restarted quite a few times. That coulda been it.

I would've participated in the flare shooting, but by then someone already used up all the flares and chem lights I had brought. <_< Also, forgot my quilted jacket and UK vest at the beach — or someone made off with them. ^_^

Many thanks for the event. :beans: It was very different, almost panic-inducing, seeing so many people in one place. All my survival instincts were yelling at me to get the hell out. I've been in the woods by myself for too long. :D Hoping for more campfire stories and thought-provoking discourse the next time.

Has the increased difficulty had eny effect on KoS frequency?
Veyda replied to IgnobleBasterd's topic in General Discussion
What I noticed, starting a conversation with something utterly ridiculous confuses the other player and engages them enough so they don't KoS, since now you're not just another nameless person, but someone memorable. RPing (instead of being a generic player) helps a lot too. "Excuse me, Sir, do you have a moment to talk about our lord and saviour Jesus Christ?" :D Of course, it works only if you spot them first and sneak up close enough to be heard, which is fine by me, since I prefer treelines and a very slow and methodical pace, and most other people prefer roads or glades and sprinting / jogging non-stop. Though since the naked eye zoom got nerfed my pace got even slower. <_< But, at least, once 0.55 rolled around, I noticed people now hesitate for a second or two before making the decision whether to pull out / raise their gun or not, and travel in larger groups in general. ^EDIT -
Actually made me wonder if, once more diseases are in, we'll see vile Trojanesque tactics, such as sending one of your hopelessly sick campmates to the competing camp to 'negotiate' and trade some blankets and canteens. B)

I applaud this with all of my (surprisingly, still intact) extremities. :beans: Looking forward to the new diseases and the upcoming stamina overhaul.

I'm Starving... a cinematic tale of survival [2:43] [1PP]
Veyda replied to Halfblood's topic in Gallery
Great video, conveys the 0.55 hopelessness quite well. :D But maybe if you weren't sprinting all the time, you wouldn't be starving as much (or at all)… ;) -
Wow, never saw there was a fingerpost sign for it — I stumbled onto this camp from the 'rear', as I prefer woods and treelines to roads. :D
-
Hmmmm.. Gearing up on a 168ms ping server with the zombies the way they currently are.. sounds 'interesting'. B)
-
..if only Musty had a 1PP server. ^_^ I religiously avoid 3PP servers because of the kind of people that usually play there and the 3pp tricks they use (many of them, not all of them). I'm afraid I won't be able to attend. :(
-
...in addition to requiring some emotional detachment — for some reason likely to do with how we humans evolved socially, child zombies (sorry, 'infected') are scarier. Caution - Graphic content

Exactly the point. This is the same moral dilemma people would face in a hypothetical real-world Zpocalypse. Some would hesitate and pay for it with their lives, as seen in a few famous Z movies that'll remain unnamed here. ;) But, logically, with DayZ going for a realistic, gritty, immersive experience, there is no reason there should only be adult zombies — Chernarus has many schools, kindergartens and summer camps and, statistically speaking, there are bound to be children in those. Leave whitewashing, unicorns and rainbows to other titles. B) P.S. When it comes to gaming, no publicity is bad publicity and, if anything, this would create enough media attention and hype for the game to become even more popular.
