    Shoes

    hmm, i like the idea of certain items giving you abilities that others dont. Shoes are a good start, and one i havent heard of. Perhaps they could add stuff like a raincoat that keeps you from catching an infection in the rain. I like the idea and i think it exemplifies rocket's goal of "connecting the player to the enviorenment".
  2. make crossbow bolts stack, just as flares do. You still have to reload after every shot, but a 1 foot long piece of fiberglass wont take up an entire fucking slot in your inventory.

    he should create a set of rules to which all suggestions should abide. Like whats possible and whats not. Rocket is already busy developing the game i doubt he has enough time to even sleep much less monitor this forum

    they should just make a fucking HUGE variety of melee weapons that can be utilized and easy to find. Something like a dead island model i think is appropriate.

    maybe, rather than classes, characters should be able to learn how to do things. Perhaps a helicoter repair instruction booklet? Maybe there should be a computer terminal with instructions on how to repair helicopters somewhere before you can go out and repair one. i just dont know... Implementing some sort of class system would be a very difficult thing to implement properly.
  6. I understand why this exists if you fall of a high place or something, but broken legs from zombies? come on guys. I have never seen a zombie swipe at my legs so why are they breaking them... If at all, broken legs from zombies should be an extremely rare occurence. I'm not bitching about this mechanic, just posting this in the interest of realism.

    Mental Health

    Since youre already emotionally connected to your character and your gear, i find this a bit uneccessary. Its like youre just punishing people for being alive for long amounts of time. We already have shock, which causes an adrenaline rush and makes your character to hyper-ventilate. I think we should find different ways to implement mental health rather than hallucinations. Perhaps we could add a system that involves how stressed your character is.

    dont knock it before you read it, youre just being an ignorant ass. I think "player backgrounds" is a better idea, you know, like what your DayZ character did before shit hit the fan. I think the word "classes" just turns people off to the idea. It should be a very, VERY, subtle system though

    I'm arguing against pre-existing factions. Now if player group up, make themselves a banner, and build a fort and call themselves a "faction/clan", i have no problem with that. User generated factions/colonies/raiding parties/clans would be awesome and a realistic and welcome addition to the game imho.

    dont worry guys, all buildings in Arma 3 will be enterable and Rocket has already ported DayZ to Arma 3

    ROCKET - ENDGAME BUILDING!

    I think we should keep pre-existing factions out of this. This is a zombie survival simulation, not Fallout 3. However the settlement building would be freaking awesome, and i think Rocket intends to implement this anyway. Something like real time settler would be great but I just dont think the engine is capable of that. What we would have to do is gather the materials and then build buildings that already exist ingame. Ive seen this done in mods before, however the building of a huge settlement out of a bunch of different materials to form something unique is out of the question at the moment, the Arma 2 engine and probably the Arma 3 engine dont have this capability at the moment. However, i am entirely supportive of this idea (except factions). +1

    Defibrillation

    ehhh forget batteries. each defib unit you find should allow for two revives and they should work 60% of the time rather than 75%. Anything else would be OP. They should also have about the same rarity as antibiotics. You can find them in firestations, medical tents, and hospitals. Batteries are just an uneccessary waste of space.
  18. So i havent tried update 1.7.1.2 but apparently everyones pissed off that the melee weapons take up so much space and blahblahblah. I propose we make melee weapons secondary weapons, and that they use the pistol slot. This make sense because hatchets and crow bars have a smaller form factor than rifles and also weigh less. I cant believe i havent seen a suggestion for this before... That is all. also this hatchet would still have the same capabilities of the previous survival hatchet. hitting a tree three times puts wood in your inventory because right clicking it in your inventory just isnt realistic enough. This SHOULD take up the secondary weapon slot because a hatchet shouldnt take up the same amount of room as a folded up piece of paper (map).
  19. Ok so I've been playing for a little more than 6 weeks and I've thought up some new mechanics and items that i think would fit well into DayZ. 1. Riot items:These would include items such as rubber bullets and tear gas. In the event of an actual zombie outbreak the first line of defense would be the police and because of the resulting socio-economic collapse a Zed apocalypse would cause the riot police would undoubtedly be put into action. This is why these items would be a good addition to DayZ. Not only are they useful to the player, but they hint at what had taken place before zombies totally overan Chernarus. They also add to realism and an added sense of immersion. a. Rubber bullets are used by riot police against rioting crouds. A rubber bullet would have a chance to knock out a player for a duration of 5 to 20 seconds or just not knock them out at all. Rubber bullets would also have a small chance to break bones, and additionally, whenever you are hit by a rubber bullet, you go into shock. These would be a good alternative for players who are looking to loot other players without taking actually killing them. This could take away a bit from the huge PVP deathmatch DayZ has become. Rubber bullets will have a chance to spawn on military and police zombies as well as in military bases and military camps in cities like Stary and Cherno. They can also be found in fire stations. b. Tear gas would induce some of the same blurred vision effects that blood loss causes, however they are only temporary and cause absolutely no harm to the player other than blurred vision. This item would be relatively rare and be found in all the same locations as rubber bullets. This is an effective tool for players looking to clear rooms where they know people are hiding. 2. Added uses for the flashlight, knife, and hatchet. a.This idea popped into my head after 1.7.1. Players now spawn without a gun and with no food or water. And i can't emphasize enough that it spawning should stay like this regardless of what people say. For realism and so people don't kill freshly spawned players because they have nothing to gain. But anyway thats a totally different issue. b. As of right now players are completely and utterly defenseless against zombies and other players. No we shouldnt give them back thier makarovs! They already have a flashlight! If i was running from a zombie and was completely gunless in real life, i know what I'd do. I'd turn around and whack that bitch in the face. If I was a survivor and out of ammo, but I have a hatchet or a hunting knife theres no reason I'd surrender to one or two zeds. I'd burry my hatchet into that zeds skull. People keep talking about melee weapons, but theyre already in the game! They just dont have the functionality to be used against zeds yet. So anyway, the knife, flashlight, and hatchet should have the ability to deal damage to zeds but should break or expire after enough uses. 6 hits with a flashlight kills a zed, three hits with a hatchet kills, and 5 hits with a hunting knife kills. c. Honestly, why cant i gut a cow with a hatchet? it has a sharp edge and is capable of cutting. There is now excuse for this. How these will work, and the animations for them, are up to the devs. So anyway, theres my suggestions! Any opinions and criticisms are welcome and appreciated.
