Vehicles are being exploited. First come, first serve.
sparta436 replied to deviantdigi's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Quit bitching. You can easily find vehicles by running across the western and northern border. My clan has had our shit stolen upwards of ten times in the last two weeks, at one point losing 9 vehicles. You can easily acquire a vehicle stockpile if you know where to look. Yesterday I found Ural, VS3, a tractor, and two ATVs, just by crisscrossing the entire northern border on a bicycle. Vehicle hoarding is the result of teamwork. Find some friends to play with -
I'm all for this, battle eye has failed us. I'm sick of people using scripts to locate my vehicles, I'm sick of people teleporting with guns that arent even IN dayz and killing me. I once killed a hacker, took his sniper rifle, and then made him rage. He spawned warheads that fell from the sky and wiped the entire map clean of buildings and people. Hacking is an all to common occurence and frankly i'm sick of it.

yeah, I'm sick of collecting cars and want something more to do in the game until endgame elements are introduced, although I"m sure puting helicopters back into the game is on rocket's to do list.

Underground to be like S.T.A.L.K.E.R's underground sections?
sparta436 replied to SkullFace45 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I am all for elements of stalker being incorporated into DayZ the atmosphere and the way colonies are built (like in abandoned ships and stuff) would fit right in to DayZ. I also like the outfits stalker has and think they would be awesome for the Eastern European zombie apocalypse survivor. The weapon health system would also be awesome (in fact i just suggested that on the forums 5 minutes ago). -
Super weapons can be fixed by adding a weapon health mechanic. People have this perception, that clans with NVGs and Silenced guns have invincibility cloaks or something, they are just as vulnerable as a newbie on the coast, the only difference is, theyre in groups, and they can shoot farther and do it quieter. Acquisition of endgame gear is a huge incentive for teamwork. Everyone who finds NVGs has done so because they worked hard and because they had friends that worked hard with them. Perhaps the introduction of an accelerated system where weapons degrade depending on how often they are used. This way, all the advanced players get to keep their superweapons, and all the noobs can stop whining because those advanced players will have to go and find new guns.

Specific Replacement Weaponry (USSR)
sparta436 replied to Zombiestubble's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm all for this, but remember that the russians have advanced technologies like night vision and stuff too. I think we should stick to more of a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. loadout. A huge variety of Eastern russian weapons. surivors should end up looking like this after being alive for a couple days: http://ishark.myphotos.cc/fBoOcYbQpriXuCdBl3Xpbw.jpg Remember that a zombie outbreak would bring alot of international attention and forces from other countries would be deployed as a result. Because of this, western weapons should be very scarce and be found mostly at helicopter crash sites. However, there should be an advantage to using western weapons like the M4 -
That doesnt work for alot of people. Theres no pull to surviving if theres no point in it. People survive and loot places like Stary solely for the promise of NVGs and superloot. Remove superloot, and theres no reason to play the game. Hoarding beans to survive is no fun. But that one moment of instant gratification when you find your first pair of NVGs is unlike any other experience in any video game.

anybody who complains about overpowered super weapons has obviously never had one. This is part of the game, wether you like it or not. The problem is not with the availibilty of these super weapons, it is the ability of clans to duplicate them via exploits in the game. In reality, finding the superweapons is hard AF even when you have four guys on ATVs scouring the countryside for helicopter sights (i speak from experience). Theres also an RP reason for these to be in the game. Given the international paranoia that a zombie outbreak would cause, All militaries from all over the world would be involved in halting said outbreak (for example, in 28 weeks later, the U.S. sends the army to London). These militaries would put thier best foot forward to stop things like this and therefore employ the latest technology and the most destructive weapons. "Superloot" is already hard enough to find if you know where you're looking. My clan of 6 split up and searched 9 crashed sights, before we ever even saw an m107, and when we found it, it didnt even have ammo. Fix the exploits, not the loot. that is all

Unluckiest group ever - 3 people taken down in 5 sec

I have 2 gigs of video memory. textures and resolution should not be a problem, although my 3d resolution is set to my normal resolution. I think the problem is just that ArmA hates AMD and i need a better processor -
Havent you guys watched rocket's Q&A at rezzed? he already said he wants to create a new map for DayZ's full release
-
stop being a carebear. Bandits are part of DayZ. deal with it
-
that doesnt work. The vikings and their gods were warlike. Thor encourages PVP
-
or skins could just have different properties that affect your player. like weather protection, bullet resistance, all that jazz
-
Yes they are for pvp. Yes my clan uses them in cherno to kill ANYTHING that moves (players, regardless of who they are) but removing them is not the answer. Stop being a pussy
-
How about this. We start with no backpack. yeah. i like that idea better
-
NO>NO>NO This should be something that players create themselves. Rocket already said that thats how it should work. He's already said no to currency and markets that aren't player created. Everything in this game is player driven, however the tools are already in place for players to meet up and barter. All we need is a form of chat like radios.

Completely Overhauling food mechanics: Making food matter
sparta436 posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Warning: This is a complete overhual of the hunger system. You will either love this idea. Or completely hate it. So DayZ is all about survival. Well survival isnt survival when you can just waltz into any town, pick up 8 cans of beans and then just go on your merry way. There is a hunger mechanic, but hunger is never really a problem, just something you have to do to maintain your character. No one really even dies of hunger in DayZ, as it really inst a problem. The developers have to find a way to make it matter. Also, I should mention that this idea is for when DayZ becomes a game rather than a mod. Every Server should start with a large quantity of food, as if the zombie apocalypse had just begun 28 days ago (you seriously cant tell me that there wouldn't be food on the shelves in that timescope).Food will be in abundance when the DayZ experience starts out, but then will gradually dwindle as survivors need to feed themselves. After all the beans are gone, they will never respawn again. This is where stuff gets interesting. The game will switch from scavenging to hunting and gathering (your dog will come in handy whenever rocket decides its time for him to enter the game world). You will have to be completely dependent on gathering wild edibles, and killing game. Animals should also be made scarcer. You will be able to find plants such as berries, mushrooms, and all that jazz, but these will only temporarily quench your hunger as they dont provide a very large source of nutrition. You will NEED to find game and kill them. Once you kill an animal, you shouldnt have to eat for about 8 hours ingame, when you eat berries and such, you should have to eat every 45 minutes. This makes the survivor aspect of the game, much more "authentic" as rocket likes to say. To cope with the eventual shortage of beans (and keep the game "fair"), survival tools will have to be much more abundant. The lack of knives is insane. I can go into my kitchen, and pull out at least 30 knives from all the drawers. Matches and lighters are also abundant everywhere. These two items should spawn almost as frequently as hatchets do. i suggest the same thing happen to water and thirst. Once all the sodas are used up, its back to wells and natural springs. -

Hacker spawns planes and cars for everyone on Seattle 13
sparta436 posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
So its pretty much the best hack ever but its still unfair play. A guy named "hacker" (yes that was his name) spawned every player in the server onto the NW airfield, took all their gear and then spawned every vehicle in the game on the airfield. The message "Destruction Derby. Start your engines." was then posted on everyones screen. It was kinda awesome to be honest but i lost my nvgs and l85. I assume that the player that hacked the server was "hacker" because of his name lol. Happened at 6:20 US Eastern. -
so seattle 13 was hacked yesterday. The hacker teleported all players on the server to the NW airfield and spawned planes for everyone near the firehouse. I DCed immediately to avoid losing all my gear to a hack. I went back to camp, dropped all my gear, and headed to the airfield to see if anyone/any vehicles were left. This is what happened: Also, this is what i get for going straight to DayZ rather than playing Arma first!
