Will DayZ ever come to Mac?

Well your problem is that you bought a Mac! :) All jokes aside, I have doubts about how well a Mac could run DayZ even if it didn't need bootcamp. They just aren't built for games. But hey, if they can actually run it and there are people who would play it on Mac, then I don't see why not.

    -=BEARDS=-

I can sort of see that, but the thing is (IMO) surviving a long time in DayZ isn't really an accomplishment because it's not difficult. Most of the people with beards will have just played on empty servers, stayed in low-traffic areas, etc.The concept of a badge of honor really doesn't work in DayZ. Most systems would always have a way to exploit and work around it. The only way would be to implement some sort of kill-death ratio or level/reputation system, neither of which really fit in a game like DayZ at all.

    -=BEARDS=-

I'd prefer a balance where our beards do grow over time, but we can also choose any style to start with at character creation. If you always start clean shaven then facial hair just becomes another aspect of the game where there is one end goal/best option, and I'd rather have it as an option for customization/personalization than that. Plus from the standpoint of realism, wouldn't some people have had beards before the apocalypse and simply retained them while surviving?
  4. Pretty good suggestion, and given the apparent shitty economy of pre-apocalypse Chernarus a cheap but effective car like this would likely be common. And the engine being in back could bring a bit of diversity to the vehicles in-game.
  5. Great idea. I think some sort of tractor is essential to DayZ, given the huge amount of farmland found across the map.

    snowy areas

I absolutely support this idea. I don't know what it is about snow, but it can make a game significantly more enjoyable for me. Personally I think the best way to implement it would be a seasons system. Of course this would be very complex (for example how is the buildup of snow in towns handled? Do we have to shovel out every house we want to loot?), but seeing as we already have complex systems like tides and moon phases, I think the devs could handle it.

    gameplay very limited and stale

I think the problem is that you're playing the game wrong. You say that the only reason to play the game is to kill players. Now don't get me wrong here, I do think that PvP is an important part of the game and a viable playstyle. But DayZ is a sandbox game above all else. If you just shoot everyone you see, you are missing a significant portion of the game's content. It's like playing Skyrim and saying that it's boring because you just attack every NPC in the town until the guards get you rather than actually taking time to talk to the NPCs or explore or anything. In DayZ, the core of the content is supplied by other players. So try and find some player interaction that doesn't involve KOS. Rob someone without killing them, torture bambis, even try going hero and feeding/healing/offering help to anyone you meet. The major advantage that a PvP experience has over a PvE one is that it can always be competitive and challenging; no matter how good you are, someone else can always be better. Thus the content is player-generated. What's special about DayZ compared to standard PvP games is that the players can generate a much wider variety of content than just shooting people.

    Make doors default locked ;-)

I'm talking more from a standpoint of realism. Think about it...there are only items left over in houses because the pre-apocalypse owners did not take those items. The general lack of items in each building indicates that at least one party has already been through and taken what they needed. If someone has already been through and looted the building, the doors will be unlocked. Thus locked doors would mean that no one has broken into the building yet, and therefore significantly more items will be left over (probably mostly untouched, except by the original owners if they were home when the apocalypse started).

    New Place / Building

Yes! And maybe if we find a generator to use, we could show films that we find.

    More shops

I always found it strange that pretty much every building seems to be residential. Where are these people buying their food clothes, books, supplies, guns/ammo, tools, etc.?

Lighting Fires in Fireplaces inside homes.

Yep! There is actually a WIP world container in experimental right now. It's a small red and white refrigerator, and I've heard that it can be found in several houses across Chernarus currently. Exciting times, indeed.
  12. Thing is, most cars in-game are completely wrecked and even if they had an alarm, it would not likely be functional. It could be implemented for some of the drivable vehicles though.
  13. I don't see how it would prevent newspawn suicides. People suicide because they are far from where they want to be, not because they are too lazy to hold down a button.

    Make doors default locked ;-)

If you think about it shouldn't the majority of doors be unlocked? All of these buildings have clearly already been looted by someone other than the players, otherwise there would be large amounts of anything you could really need in any locked house. That could be a mechanic, though. Locked houses are rare, but if you can find one and break in then you can find pretty much any civilian loot you could ever need and then some.

    Reviving people!

What I'd rather have is unconsciousness being more common somehow. In real life someone killed by a gunshot or weapon wound will rarely if ever die immediately. Of course actually treating them will usually be very difficult and often impossible, but in general instant kills are fairly unrealistic, and unconsciousness can often serve to make the game experience more enjoyable.

    Zombie Hordes

One thing I have to add is that zombies need to know when a sound is just the environment. Otherwise they will all just walk into the ocean when they hear the waves.

Do not make DayZ SA Moddable.

I'm going to have to agree with you on this. As much as I love and support modding in games, modding could ruin this games community. Look at the mod. Everyone always played OverPoch or another mod, no one ever played the vanilla game. The same thing will happen if DayZ SA becomes moddable. There will be mods with tons of easy-to-acquire automatic weapons and attack helicopters and huge base-building, and everyone will play those mods which will not hold the same experience as the vanilla experience intended by the developers. This will affect people whether or not they play the mods. If everyone else is playing the mod then there will be no one playing the vanilla game, thus the game will be dead for people who do not like the mod.

Making it an event when eating/drinking etc...

Some good points/ideas here, especially regarding attachments. In real life you can't just pop the scope off of your bolt-action rifle and have it instantly ready for close-quarters engagements. Depending on the type of scope and how experienced you are with it, it can take a very long time (like up to an hour in some cases). There should also be time for unpacking ammunition from a box, spraypainting an object, and any other form of crafting (making ghillie, leather clothing, item repair, etc.). Maybe there could be an option to speed up your character's actions while producing more sound, thus being more likely to attract zombies or players. This could be the actual function of the "camp", giving you a safe place to stop and eat, craft, etc.

    Civilian semi-auto rifles

Beeeeeans I agree with you, semi-automatic mid-long range rifles tend to be my favorite and I think that they are in desperate need of expansion in DayZ. Right now there is basically just the SKS for that purpose (let's be honest, the Sporter is a whole different type of weapon). The Mini-14 and Vepr 5.45 could fit this role really well, use ammunition not often used otherwise (right now the 5.45 ammo is just used for the AK74 variants and 5.56 is just used for automatics), and look badass on top of all that.

    MOLLE Webbing System

How so? The system described above is intended to be highly modular and customizable, not just "put on two premade pieces of clothing together".

Lighting Fires in Fireplaces inside homes.

Yes, it did. The chimneys even Emit smoke properly when there is a fire. In case anyone doesn't know, to do it you just make a fireplace kit (add a rag/bark/etc. to a stick) and interact with the grill inside a fireplace with it in your hands. Any fireplace with the small silverish grill inside can be used.

Restore First Aid Kits To 6 Slots

I agree, the first aid kit worked better before. If you think about it there are two ways of looking at it. On one hand there is realism. Realistically you could put whatever you want in the med kit, and as a simulator DayZ does need to consider realism. But on the other hand there is the issue of functionality. As you explained, there is no real benefit of carrying one as it does not give any extra space for medical supplies. I have thought of a potential solution that takes both factors into account. So, the normal capacity of the first aid kit would stay four slots. However these slots have a special property. Every two slots that you fill with medical slots will add another medical-only slot. So for example, adding a splint, two stacks of bandages, a saline bag and morphine, or any other combination will add another slot, and adding a defibrillator will add two more slots. This way the first aid kit is still a more efficient way to carry medical supplies, and you can still store non-medical items as you could in real life. A similar system could be implemented for the ammo box as well.

UI concept - the many possibilities of a modular inventory

Personally I'd prefer to keep what we have now. It looks good (IMO) and functions perfectly fine (except for the occasional lag, which has more to do with server performance). This concept doesn't look bad though, much better than what they have on experimental right now.

    Ladder slide mechanic fleshed out.

Technically not off-topic...lol On topic, I would like to see this too. General physics/collision-based damage and staggering (running full force into a wall or another player should hurt) would be nice.
