Refueling an airplane isn't actually that complicated a process. You will need a lot of people to do it properly, but in reality it's basically like refueling a car but with more safeguards/doors to open, and everything being much bigger. We're not synthesizing the fuel ourselves here. Keep in mind I'm not supporting this idea. I posted earlier in this thread explaining why it isn't a feasible addition for this game.

Less sway when walking while aiming down sights!
OnionOfShame replied to jayfkay (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Just about every time sway has been mentioned on this forum it has been regarding the sway after sprinting, which is not what this thread is discussing. -
I see what you mean about the vehicles. I remember the devs stating that this was the intention, for a car itself to be fairly common but require a lot of work to actually get one operational and maintain it. But I don't think tanks should be common like that, just to prevent the game from becoming just another military simulator. I disagree on the sleeping while offline thing though. It just doesn't fit DayZ I'm my opinion.

OnionOfShame replied to jayfkay (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I think they were referring to the sway just when moving, which is present regardless of your stamina level. In this case I agree. I remember a while ago they lowered the movement speed when you had a weapon out, saying that a civilian wouldn't be trained to keep a steady shot while moving and thus would have to move slower to maintain accuracy. Then shouldn't A. The sway be kept and movement speed restored, or B. The sway be reduced and movement speed br kept? It seems silly and unrealistic to me to apply multiple realism balances where only one should be applied. But related to your comment I think that having the sway after running is completely reasonable. Maybe it should be reduced by a little, but there's no way you could make an accurate shot after sprinting a kilometer or so in full military equipment, especially as an untrained civilian. -
There probably would be actually. I don't think jet fuel would be of very high priority to most survivors, so most of it would still be lying around at the airfield.
-
I think they mean an option to actually hide 3PP servers. While sorting the list by perspective is possible, this makes it impossible to sort through a list of 1PP-only servers (i.e. find the 1PP server with most players, etc.).
-
Exactly. I could maybe see a very small 3-4 passenger plane, as this wouldn't necessarily need a dedicated runway to land (could use some flat fields and streets). But a plane the size OP is suggesting could only land at dedicated airfields. And all airfields are very popular looting/PvP locations, so you're basically guaranteed to get killed before you can exit the plane and get out of the middle of the runway. To safely land and store a plane that size you would have to control the entire airfield as your base, and to make it useful at all you would have to control another airfield as a base to have a place to go. At that rate I can't see anyone thinking that it's worth the effort.

A megaphone is confirmed, as a WIP image of one was released on Trello a while back. It would be interesting to see horns as well though, being craftable and not requiring a battery while having a more limited function.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
OnionOfShame replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
Agreed. It would be nice if, for example, the civilian version spawned at civilian weapon locations, but the more "tactical" version (i.e. Pistol grip, rails, collapsible stock, etc., like the first image you posted) could be used as a sort of attachment, replacing the standard wooden furniture but keeping the internal parts, fou d at heli crashes. Of course this wouldn't work at all with the current instant system of attaching things to weapons, though. -
You can eat while crouching or laying down. Not while walking or sitting down, but as Hekeetsu said it is likely coming with the new player controller. Barricading and basebuilding are also coming eventually (but probably not like in Epoch fortunately). I dislike the idea of sleeping when offline, it just doesn't fit a game like DayZ very well in my opinion.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
OnionOfShame replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
Ohh, I see what you mean now. In this case I wouldn't have a problem with it spawning on the gun. I believe this type of reticle is on the ACOG Scope in-game, but it would be nice to have on a true sniper scope as well. -

I thought of adding Flintlock/matchlock rifles and pistols to the list a while ago but decided not to bother. I'm in support of this weapon type being added, but only if the crafting mechanics for it are realistic (i.e. you need to have high skill and put forth effort to make one that will actually be able to hit anything, rather than just "1 Firewood + 1 Scrap Metal" or something exceedingly simple lime that). -

The military variant would use 7.62x51 NATO, not .308 Winchester, but that round is confirmed to be coming eventually with the FN FAL so it doesn't really matter. I do like the concept of a scope with a built-in rangefinder, but I think that it should spawn as a loose item rather than coming pre-attached to a gun (and of course, it requires a battery). On the weapon overall, I'd rather they add the M14. The M21 is essentially just an M14 modified for longer range combat, and such modifications (longer barrels, etc.) are confirmed to be coming eventually. So overall if they add the M14, which I think is more likely, there is no point in adding the M21 as a separate weapon. -
I agree that we need more revolvers. What I think would be better is a straight-up .22 Revolver. Extremely common in all parts of the world, doesn't require a magazine, and makes use of a mostly useless round that's actually in game already. Also we know that .44 rounds are coming eventually (the coming Desert Eagle was confirmed to be the .44 variant), so a .44 Revolver would be nice too. Hopefully nickel-plated and black grip, as we already have a black metal/wood grip revolver.

Suggestions regarding the M65 Jacket (and clothing in general)
OnionOfShame posted a topic in Suggestions
Hello, I have a few suggestions regarding the M65 Jacket and clothing in general in DayZ... 1. Change the color of the Olive M65 Jacket. As many of you know there are four variants of the M65 in-game. Black, Tan, Khaki, and Olive. The first three look good in my opinion, but I think the fourth one (Olive) is bad. It is a somewhat bright green color. This is often too bright for effective camouflage (and it just looks kind of weird in the setting), and the color is overall very similar to the Khaki variant. Thus, I suggest that the Olive variant have its color changed. Olive Drab military gear normally has a pale green, slightly greyish color. This is what I think the Olive M65 Jacket should look like. http://image.sportsmansguide.com/adimgs/l/5/582392_ts.jpg 2. Keep the spawns how they are. By this I mean having them spawn rarely but mostly in civilian locations (maybe increase rarity a bit). If you approach it from a perspective of realism, a military jacket like this would probably mostly be owned by civilians in a place like Chernarus. And military jackets like this are actually bought by civilians fairly commonly (although maybe not this specific jacket as much). Also from the standpoint of balance/looting, this means that there is actually high-end civilian loot that is better than the military equivalent in some way, which should be how the game is balanced in my opinion. Possibly reduce the insulation of the jacket or make it rarer to balance it better. 3. Patches. I'm sure this has been said before, but in real life it is very common for military uniforms to have patches indicating the owner's affiliations, allegiances, et cetera. These patches are fairly easy to sew on most jackets and come in many different designs. If you find some sort of advanced sewing kit or something you could even design a unique patch. A system such as this gives great potential to customize one's gear, giving the personalized clothing a greater value to the player. Some examples: http://image.made-in-china.com/2f0j00CMJQPpTtvUcW/Military-and-Police-Patches.jpg http://cdn.nexternal.com/armynavy/images/Alpha-Youth-MA-1-Jacket-with-Patches1.gif http://image.thefashionisto.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Diesel-J-Amma-Military-Jacket-900x1125.jpg http://www.fitsmybudget.com/images/D/buffalo-leather-motorcycle-jacket-eagle-patches-GFCRLTR.jpg Thanks for reading! -
Suggestions regarding the M65 Jacket (and clothing in general)
OnionOfShame replied to OnionOfShame's topic in Suggestions
I'd imagine collecting patches wouldn't be of the highest priority for most survivors early on (i.e. the people that looted most of the stuff before we show up), so they would be found fairly commonly and often in large amounts in clothing and military surplus stores, sewing factories, and military bases and some homes as well. And like I said above, even if they aren't spawning it is possible to create a custom patch. Also: the first two questions of the poll have been altered slightly, please look and change your answers if applicable. -
Agreed. The same should apply to object ts placed within your inventory (i.e. handguns, weapons in your backpack, water bottles, binoculars, etc.).

swords, smithing, furnace, melee and ragnar
OnionOfShame replied to Wookieenoob's topic in Suggestions
I mean, this would be cool...bit it's simply not viable/realistic. No one will use this except on a modded/RP server. There's a reason we don't use medieval weapons and armor anymore. Modern equipment is superior in every way. With the effort required to smith swords, armor, and shields, they simply aren't an easier option than looting for guns and ammo. It'll be just as diffucult, but completely illogical as guns are simply better killing tools. -
Personally I don't think it should be I'm game. The point of the Mountain Backpack is that it's a tradeoff. It has the greatest storage capacity, but sticks out like a sore thumb. That's why people go for the Hunting Backpack instead, they value the improved camouflage over a few more slots.
-
Could be cool, but realistically how would they have ended up in Chernarus? Also many have unique calibers so the devs will likely not add most of them. Maybe once modding is in a few servers will have WWII full conversions with weapons, vehicles, and clothing of the era...
-
Personally I don't like this idea. This is one thing that should be simulated by the player going offline and sleeping in real life. And there already is a fatigue effect. Your character getting out of breath after running (this system is being overhauled eventually). I do support the excretion idea though, it would have to be implemented correctly though. What I think DayZ needs is a depression/entertainment mechanic, sort of like Project Zomboid. But that's another discussion for another thread, and besides, many people have expressed their distaste of the concept so I doubt it will be added.

1. Ehh, personally against this idea because realism. Just go in the bushes and log out, it's much better. 2. IMO we shouldn't be fully energized/hydrated/healthy, but we definetely shouldn't start hungry. And we do start with full blood and health, so technically we are Healthy, but the status indicator only shows up if you have the kcal and water to get the Healing indicator but are at full blood and health. 3. Agreed, this is confirmed to come eventually. 4. Good idea, not sure if it would work though as I don't think the tech to make a very dark interior in the day like that is in-engine now. Maybe after the new renderer? 5. Good idea. 6. Could be interesting, as long as we have to find the fuel and parts to repair them. Shouldn't work right away. 7. Good idea, has been suggested many times but I don't think it's coming (correct me if I'm wrong). 8. Good idea. 9. I personally like the parts system, but I think there should be a better use for maps. There are several threads discussing what that could potentially be. 10. Not sure if the water would still be working though. 11. Good idea. Probably as a world container which spawns medical loot. 12. Good idea, I think they are going for the approach of making them containers instead though. 13. I'd agree but it doesn't fit the lore. The "zombies" in DayZ are actually normal humans with a "super rabies"-esqe virus, and therefore are not actually undead. 14. Maybe we'd have to find a saline drip pole to do it alone, that way there is still a point in doing it co-op. 15. Good idea, confirmed to be coming eventually. 16. Good idea. Never really understood that, did they just not hydrate the prisoners and guards? 17. I too support code locks as a type of security lock, but there still needs to be a way to break into them. 18. I support having increased regeneration while relaxing/inactive (or rather, decreased when active) but I don't think beds should have some magic function for that. A laying down animation on beds could be nice. Also just for reference, the regeneration figure you gave would be useless considering we habe 5000 health, and health regenerates much faster than that anyways. 19. Good idea. Personally I prefer the old inventory UI, the new one is just ugly. 20. Good idea. Personally I think we shouldn't be able to change the order of clothing items in our inventory as having them in order somewhat simulates having to find the right pocket, having backpacks take longer, etc. But if we can reorder them, we shouldn't have to drop them to do it. 21. Good idea.

I made a thread about things like this a little while back. I don't believe it mentions an ambulance specifically though. Good idea! http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/224671-potential-new-dynamic-events-for-dayz/

I don't think wiping shit on the windows would be very viable. Unless you plan it ahead you will probably not have enough to cover it all enough, may not have any at all actually. And even then you would have to wash your hands afterwards, unless you have rubber gloves or want to wipe your shit on everything you touch (including your clothes, weapons, food, etc.).

Would SCAR seem suitable in the DayZ-environment?
OnionOfShame replied to Gunuziz's topic in Suggestions
Yes, the SCAR-H would definetely belong in DayZ. According to the lore set down in ArmA 2, the weapon is used very commonly by USMC forces at the time. Personally I would much rather see a SCAR-H, as the SCAR-L would be really similar in operation to the M4A1, and the SCAR-H would fill a new role (high-end select-fire battle rifle), and just looks much cooler in my opinion.
