improvised 12 gauge + crafted Co2 explosive shotgun shells

It takes up four slots, horizontally.

IV Holder/Pole - A way to use IV / Blood bag without help

I like it, maybe we could make one with sticks and duct tape too.

    Binoculars have slots?

Makes sense, but I think containers and (some) Boots have the +/- sign because they can hold items inside them.

    Binoculars have slots?

This was on stable. Just to clarify, by open/close I mean that the inventory can be expanded or collapsed with the +/- sign in the bottom right corner of its icon in the inventory panel (however like guns and containers, it cannot be expanded or collapsed while in your bag). It does not show standard slots, indicating that it would hold only specific items like the Boonie Hat and Chest Holster do. Unfortunately I didn't get a screenshot. However this bug/feature is not new. I mentioned it to my friend and he says he noticed this a while ago, back in 0.52 stable.

[poll] Please bring back the Burlap Gun Wrap!

The Ghillie Gun Wrap is in game and fits on most guns, however it gives a very different aesthetic to the weapon. Personally I prefer the appearance of the old wrap when I don't have a full Ghillie suit.
  6. Pretty good ideas here! I'd like to share some of my ideas as well. Basically, I think we should divide all of the torso clothing items (shirt and Vest) into four new slots: Shirt, Jacket, Vest, and Rig. Shirts would include thin/basic clothing with little to no slots such as t-shirts, shirts, sweaters, and tactical shirts. Jackets would be heavier items with more Slots like military uniforms, quilted jackets, rain jackets, and hoodies. This Slot would also come with a new mechanic called opening. All items in this Slot can be opened up (unzipped/unbuttoned, sleeves rolled up). This will show the item in the Shirt Slot below the opened Jacket, and reduce heat comfort value to cool down. Inventory space in a Shirt will only be visible when the Jacket is opened or not present. The vest slot will hold vests with not much inventory space such as the press Vest (would be nerfed), anti-stab vest, and other future items. These are mostly for protection or appearance. The final slot, Rig, would take most current vests including UK Vest, Chest Holster, SMERSH vest, and others. The only exception is the plate carrier vest, which will take up both the Vest and Rig Slots if it has any attachments (but more attachments should be available). Additional plate carrier attachments could include canteen (no interface necessary), back liquid pouch (under backpack), specific item pouches such as Slots for compasses, etc.
  7. Hello, I would like to make some suggestions regarding the recoloring mechanics in Dayz Standalone. We know that clothing recoloring will be in at some point (whenever the barrel is released) but we do not yet know exactly how these mechanics will work, so I will focus on the use of spray paints in-game. As most of you know, there are currently two colors in game - green and black, which can sometimes be combined to make camouflage - and a third color (red) is confirmed to be coming at some point. So, here are some of my suggestions on making the spray paint system better: 1. Customizable items: The amount of paintable items should be drastically increased. In my opinion every non-fabric piece of equipment should be able to be colored. This includes all melee weapons, guns, weapon attachments, binoculars/rangefinders, helmets, nylon equipment (raincoats, drybags, etc.), leather equipment, etc...basically anything that wouldn't be colored with basic fabric dye in real life. Furthermore, combined colors (i.e. black+green=camo) should be applicable on everything that can be painted. 2. Available colors: We should also have more options for colors to paint our equipment. Currently there is only black and green spray paint, and soon there will be red, but I would like some other colors. My suggestions for additional colors are blue, pink, white, and tan. With these additions, more color combinations would also be added into the game. To avoid an overly complicated painting system, I think that the amount of colors on a gun should be limited to two. If a gun already has two colors, attempting to add a third will offer you to replace one or both colors. For example, if you use red paint on a Mosin that already has green and black, you will have the following options: "Replace green paint with red paint," "Replace black paint with red paint," and "Paint Mosin 9130 red." 3. Combos: Of course, each combination of colors would have a unique color and pattern when combined. My suggestions for these are as follows, with examples where needed: Black+Green=DPM (in-game) Black+Red=Redpunk (in-game) Black+Blue=Bluerock (in-game) Black+Pink=Urban Camo A (http://media.moddb.com/images/members/1/341/340066/REDURBAN.jpg) Black+White=Arctic Camo A (http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/x/camouflage-pattern-16485317.jpg) Black+Tan=Urban Camo B (https://img1.etsystatic.com/034/0/6222180/il_340x270.583717619_jwin.jpg) Green+Red=Flecktarn (in-game) Green+Blue=Naval Camo A (http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0132/6432/products/teal_camo_1_1024x1024.jpg?v=1343273012) Green+Pink=Flowers A (http://www.mycutegraphics.com/backgrounds/flower/flowerbg76.gif) Green+White=Snowy Woodland (https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/15/35/22/153522682b58d3fe23dcb0f685411654.jpg) Green+Tan=Woodland (the one that currently results from green+black) Red+Blue='Merica Camo (http://rlv.zcache.com/red_white_and_blue_camo_posters-r09fb7267b04540a68288c4b4a3b2a7f5_wvk_8byvr_512.jpg) Red+Pink=Hearts (http://image.naldzgraphics.net/2012/02/13-hearts.jpg) Red+White=Rising Sun (http://www.imgbase.info/images/safe-wallpapers/miscellaneous/flags/42753_flags_japan_rising_sun_flag.jpg) Red+Tan=Desert Camo A (http://i48.servimg.com/u/f48/11/28/71/91/100_3021.jpg) Blue+Pink=Purple Camo (http://www.marshalldrygoods.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/KC-PURP.jpg) Blue+White=Arctic Camo B (http://thefabricmarket.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/p-6136-CAMO-blue_1.jpg) Blue+Tan=Naval Camo B (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51NqLBS1hxL.jpg) Pink+Tan=Flowers B (http://content.mycutegraphics.com/backgrounds/flower/flowerbg130.gif) Pink+White=Pink and White Stripes (Like the Pink Balaclava) White+Tan=Desert Camo B (http://wallpoper.com/images/00/39/92/17/desert-camouflage_00399217.jpg) (Please note, I know that many of these would not be helpful for camo or are not made with the most logical ingredient colors. All in the name of fashion/system consistency. I intended each color to be a general range of colors rather than one specific shade.) I realize that there are more important things to add than camouflages, but in my opinion these would add a great deal of immersion and would most likely be easy to add. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and feel free to comment or add your own suggestions. EDIT: Fixed one of the links

    special rounds for shotguns

Beans for you sir! I love this idea. Right now a squad is basically just 1-2 snipers and a bunch of guys with auto rifles. It would be interesting to change squad dynamics by adding new types of utility/Combat shells and making shotguns viable as a primary weapon.

    DayZ Zombie Ideas/Suggestions Thread

As with many of my fellow players, I am of the opinion that zombies in DayZ Standalone are too easy and should be more challenging. With the news of the new infected AI and horde mechanics, have been brainstorming new ways for zombies to be more challenging. One way they could be expanded is with new zombie types. However, to fit the theme these new types should be more "realistic", rather than the crazy ones seen in games like Left 4 Dead. Here are some of my ideas for new zombie types I'd like to see implemented: Standard Zombie The current basic undead. Not very strong, but can be dangerous to a careless or inexperienced survivor. They should move a tiny bit slower than they do now, and have a more staggering/limping type of walk animation. For reference, I picture something like the zombies from The Walking Dead but faster. Another thing, the devs should try to implement a system where zombies will be wearing random clothing items available to players in the game world, for the sake of consistency. Puking Zombie These zombies would operate similarly to standard zombies with a twist. They could possibly appear to be more "sick", but maybe not since I'm not sure how that could be done. They have a special attack where they will run and attempt to swing, but instead vomit on the target. This has a chance to make the target very sick rather than dealing direct damage or bleeding. Fat Zombie An overweight man/woman before the apocalypse. It moves slowly with a lumbering walk animation. It has higher health than standard undead and its attacks are more powerful. It's charge attacks are capable of stunning or knocking over targets and have a chance to deal skeletal damage. Child Zombie An infected child. Moves more slowly and deals less damage than other zombies. Mostly just added for consistency and ambiance. Crawling Zombie Pretty self-explanatory. These zombies crawl on the ground instead of walking. They can spawn like this, or you can cripple the legs of a standard zombie to create one. They move very slowly and cannot attack very well, meaning they mostly serve the purpose of ambiance. Hunter Zombie Hunter zombies are more dangerous than other types. They move quickly and deal high damage with their attacks. They have some attacks to stun or bring down their targets. However, their most dangerous aspect is their minds; they are capable of detecting targets from farther away and with their sense of smell, and can use stealth and cover to a limited degree to get the drop on players. Pack Hunter Zombie By far the most dangerous variety of zombie. These are similar to the hunter zombie, but will always be found in groups and work in tandem. They will coordinate their attacks, movements, and stealth with their group, unlike regular hordes, which will simply attack together. This makes them more dangerous than players in some cases, and will put some real challenge into PvE. To balance this they should be more likely to target groups of players than lone survivors. Even standard zombies fear them, and will attempt to leave any area that they occupy. They could also have some word-like vocal sounds to communicate with their group, to indicate the lesser degree of their mental degeneration. Player Zombie I know this feature has been mentioned elsewhere, but I figured I should mention it here too. After about ten minutes (the time where dead players would normally disappear) the corpse may be reanimated. The type of zombie (standard, crawling, or hunter) will depend on the player's hunger and thirst levels when they die, as well as their cause of death. For example, a player who fell to their death will come back as a crawling zombie. No clothing will be able to be looted from them, but items in their vests/backpacks and weapons on their backs will be lootable. Thanks for reading, feel free to comment on my suggestions or make your own!

    DayZ Zombie Ideas/Suggestions Thread

I never suggested zombies with special powers. In fact I suggested just the opposite, that zombies should be more "realistic" types. The only type of "bile" zombie I mentioned was the Puking Zombie, which simply pukes on you. No special acidic/corrosive/flammable effect, just the possibility of transmitting disease, just like normal human vomit. The pack hunters can communicate (somewhat) like humans because they have not deteriorated as far mentally. Not a superpower.I haven't "cherrypicked" posts to read. I follow the devs' progress somewhat closely and I have not heard anything about this "life cycle" mechanic. This does sound interesting though. I too would like to see some sort of hunger system implemented for zombies.

rare items ///// don't just make it military gear

I agree, endgame should not necessarily be military loot. I think we need some better civilian clothing, as the Gorka Jacket is pretty much objectively the best Jacket right now. More improvised things would be cool too like IEDs, molotov cocktails, and improvised grenades from spray paint cans. Something I would especially like to see is more civilian "vests". We could have belts worn normally or as bandoliers to hold items, police equipment belts, hunting vests, or even a modular/customizable chest belt harness to hold ammo pouches, holsters, canteens, equipment, etc. Something somewhat related, we should be able to hold our sawn-off weapons in a Chest Holster slot. The chest Holster is quantifiably pretty much the worst choice for a Vest right now, but if I could put my sawn-off IZH-43 in it I would take that just for the badassery.

    Aircraft: Planes

Unless air vehicles are very common I doubt any squad would bother wasting space to bring a launcher along. So the only real use a Stinger would get would be if you were being attacked in a military base by an aircraft and just happened to find one. The PTRS could be good though, as it would be usable as a sniper rifle as well.

    Poyas Chest rig

Love it! IMO this should replace the UK Assault Vest, which would be moved to heli crashes (and possibly have the inventory space increased to balance).

    Ability to turn off chat

How about a hotkey to hide all of the UI? it would hide your reticle, Weapon information (top right), and quick slots instead of making you wait for them to disappear. This way you tap the key, take your screenshot, tap it again and boom, you got a nice screenshot and still have your full UI.
