What is it, on a psychological level that makes people pull out their guns when they hear a truck? Almost every time I climb into a truck to make a leisurely journey across the map I get shot or shot at. I’ve also watched lots of videos where the authors were engaged in typical DayZ activity when along comes a vehicle and almost instinctively the first thing they do is pull out a gun. WHY? The slow control response in a truck doesn’t exactly make it and ideal weapon and because front tires are venerable zombies are more dangerous than charging trucks. Sure it’s possible they could run you over but that’s high risk for the driver. It’s easily out maneuvered and the occupants cannot shoot at you. Even if they decide to get out and engage you, they are the ones with the disadvantage as they must complete the dismount animation before they can go through the arming animation. Is it jealousy, is it envy, is it annoyance? What, on a primal level, makes us drop everything we are doing at the chance to get a bullet into that cab? Even if you don’t attempt to shoot, what causes us to immediately draw weapons? I say “us” because I find myself doing the same thing even when I’m in no danger of attack or even detection my heart rate increases, I get hyper aware and my gun comes out just as it would if someone had taken a shot at me. I can’t decide if its fear or bloodlust, greed or dominance. What say you??

Well guys after today’s persistence wipe the guys and I have decided to shelf this game for a while. Putting in far too many hours just to have it wiped with little or no warning. I’m not trying to create any discontent or protest against the man just wanted to say thanks to all of you that positively contribute to the forums and wish you a better gaming experiences in the future. I’ll pop in from time to time to see what’s going on in the forums and look for that key word “PERSISTANCE”. We’re hearing good things about the Ark initiative so we’re going to wonder over and see what the fuss is about. I honestly hope there is some major progress (my opinion) in the near future with this game. It has been a lot of fun and 10 X worth the $29 I paid. I have invested twice as much time into DayzSA than I have in any other game I’ve ever played and it sucks to have to move on but I’m losing my appreciation and need to break away before I become one of the grumblers. Thanks for the words of support. I wasn't so much pissed that everything was lost just upset that persistence wasn't persistent. Half the fun is setting up a camp but not so much fun that I want to do it every day. Ya know what I mean?

Has anyone had a problem with persistence? Our campsite that we've spent 2 days building has now disappeared. I know its possible that someone raided it but everything is gone and no one would take every single item. Even if they wanted to it would be near impossible to move it all in the amount of time the camp was unguarded. I was so stoked to have persistence now I'm back to being disappointed. I don't want to loose my new barrel after waiting so long to get it. WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT!!! Damn I'm upset.

Found my first barrel 10 minutes after logging in. Its puke green and the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I also saw a tire.

Police station in Nadezhdino had six pair of Gorka pants of different patterns. No gorka jackets found yet. 1911 found with full mag next to it. Weapons cleaning kits are back.

The global chat might be a bug but it is working. I was chatting with someone in Cherno and I'm in Vybor (just wanted to test it). Needs to be disabled. Lots of useless chatter cluttering up the bottom of my screen. 40 people on the server and everyone has something to say.

I also cannot drag anything into hands but hotbar is working for me Rain is back Thanks for the hint on making rags. I thought it had been taken out. Heli crash is still at Vybor. Loot is easy to find. I was geared in no time. Maybe its because I was there first. Full server and I haven't run into a soul.

After server restart my original character was back and all is right with the world. All of my previous post was as if it never happened. Good thing because a map with absolutely no loot makes for a tough time.

Logged in first thing this morning and my character had reset on the beach. I went from Electro to Dubky and didn't find a single item of loot. I decided to try a different server and once logged in my character was reset back to the beach. I immediately logged out so I wouldn't loose my progress and tried a third server. It reset my character and spawned me in another beach side location. I logged out and logged into the first server I started on and was again reset to a fresh spawn location. All of these servers and public servers which I play on frequently and I've never had any problems with them. I decided to stay this server and push to the NWAF. I went from just east of Electro all the way to NWAF and didn't find a single piece of loot. Not a hat, not a bat, not a jacket, not a pot. Absolutely not one single item. I picked berries/apples and drank from water wells to get me thru. I hit the Vybor military base the NWAF and the airfield tent city. NOTHING! No loot is spawning at all. I did notice that the heli crashsite, which always spawns between Pustoshka and the Vybor military base, was not there. I don't know what else to do except log out and try another sever but it would to suck to loose all the ground I covered this morning. Has anyone else had any luck on 57 stable after Wednesdays maintenance?

Do you ever get a response? When I'm in a truck I cant hear an atomic bomb explosion much less a guy on the side of the road speaking in direct chat. The engine noise is just too loud.

We are a fast food society. Drive thru's and microwaves and yes, even virtual suicide.

Can any of you guys on this post tell me how you were able to upload these videos? I've only been able to attach links to the videos I want to upload. I've dicked around with it a few times but haven't been able to finger it out. Thanks and sorry for not contributing to the discussion.

Eventually you'll get lucky enough to get away and have a nice new 101. Now you'll have to go back for the mag. Rinse and repeat. Seriously I've not see one but friends have told me they appear and crash sites. Good luck.

Drowning is back in! I just tried it and died fairly quick. Faster than running to the construction site. I dont know when it was removed but a few weeks ago I read a post that it had been taken out so I went out to give it a try on a private shard and was unable to drowned myself. Good point. Now that you cant drowned yourself I cringe when I get a crappy spawn that's not close to a high dive.

The other side of the coin is what about those players who wouldn't want to spawn at the prison. If you are a newbie trying to learn the game or maybe just a woodsman survivalist and spawned into a firefight, no chance no thanks. Even if you were able to escape being shot down and managed to get into the water you'd probably die from your own fatigue as you don't spawn with much health in the first place. If speed rounds are what people are looking for by spawning on the island, there are other games that specifically cater to that type of game play and do it very well. And that's my 29 dollars worth.

Netting is spawning. I gathered this up when I did a coastal sweep from corner to corner and back. I did this over the course of two days and in 4 sessions. I began each session after a restart. I figured there are approximately 33 boat spawn locations. Some are very close to each other and could be considered one location but were separated enough for me to call it. Most boat locations are coastal but you can also find them at Black Lake. BTW, now that I’ve completed the run, if anyone wants netting let me know. I have no desire to make a ghillie suit. Without persistence I need my backpack to carry my garbage. This is a 1PP character and I have no burlap.

I decided to try the “heli crash camping” thing to see if I could get lucky. I made my way to one of the three known chopper locations, set up in a tree line and waited for the restart. When the time came I logged in and holy $hit the fireworks. It appeared that three other guys logged in at the same time and it was gunfight at the OK corral. I emptied 25 rounds from my RAK and may have got luck and hit the helicopter but that’s the last thing I remember before I pulled a Jason Bourn and woke up in Kamyshovo. But I wasn’t whipped yet. It was all just bad timing and I was determined to search a virgin chopper. Over the next couple hours I made my way back up to Stary and positioned myself for the restart and when the time came I logged in. I peeked out to assess the hazard, and damn! There’s a geared guy on the crash. I’m no match with my trumpet so I re-log on another server. I glass the area and it looks clear so I sprint for the crash. Get right up to the chopper and zip snap, I start taking fire. I run for the hills and make it out alive but not without injury. Get myself patched up drop my ruined gear and re-log. As I was running back to the chopper location I could hear gun fire coming from that direction. Log out, Log in. I crotch and crawl to the heli site and glass the area. No one in site. Every second I sit brings possible encounter so it’s go time. I make my move and get down to the bird. I see a pair of boots, a blue beret and….I see the beach at Three Valleys. Piss on this, I’m going back home to the hills of Novo where I belong. What I learned is: You got to be geared to go camping for gear in the NW and it wouldn’t hurt to have squad support. I’m looking forward to random chopper spawns again.
