I have a HP Envy laptop with an i5 3317u, intel HD graphics 4000 and 4gb ram that I loaded DayZ on for a trip I was taking. I was able to run the program but it was utterly unplayable. I had to adjust the setting down so low I could not see anything out past 200 meters and anything within that range was so pixilated it created eye strain. I couldn't even identify certain objects in my own inventory. If I cranked up the setting even a little it would freeze up the system. There just isn’t enough power to fuel the game. This was my experience, others may have better results.

Please post the action you take that rectify your problem. Might be useful to someone else. Thank you.

Is the department of transportation still running during the apocalypse? Ha I can see it now, I catch the bus to Cherno and when I arrive I see a pile of dead bodies then I see a black screen which says “You Are Dead”.

I completely agree with you on this and I'm also extremely guilty of doing it. I turn up the gama shine as soon as it goes dark because I'm not about to run around with a flashlight while the rest of the server is running around with gamma vision. In the last 6 months I have yet to see another player using a flashlight. Also the only time its daylight ingame for me is on weekends. During the week by the time I get off work and get positioned to catch a few hours of gameplay, its always night time. When the servers do finally rotate to daylight hours I have to turn in. I hope in the future public servers will be on alternating time cycles.

Agreed Dear god the carnage that would ensue if you could pick your own spawn point. Just to balance the game they would have to prevent looting corpses. Deathmatch DayZ might be a great idea for a Mod but I certainly dont want to see it in DayZ vanilla.

General Zod in the phantom zone. If you knew what side of the map you were on it might help someone find you. As it stands I'd wait for the sweet relief of starvation. Log in then go watch a movie. Hope someone has better advice for you.

Things I can fit in my “fresh spawn” jeans. 4 pens (no problem) 4 cans of beans (little tight but OK) 2 raincoats A quilted jacket A Gorka helmet (is that a helmet in your pocket…) A car battery (ouch) A Smersh vest (reality is getting a bit fuzzy) A plate carrier with holster and pouches (we have now officially went Dr. Who) Mean while in the really real world I can just fit my wallet and a set of car keys. Maybe I should invest in a larger pair of relaxed fit with car-battery pockets. This is a fun thread, keep em coming.

Oh hell yeah brother, I can defiantly help you out. I'm on central standard time so there would be no problem with lag. Were probably playing on some of the same servers anyway. I can get tents all day long but barrels are a little more problematic. PM me with a location and a trusted server and I'll drop off a tent for you to pick up at your convenience. This will be my initial peace offering. If you recover it without issue I can supply more. I'd like to get that 65 jacket and plate carrier as a sign of good faith. I've helped a couple others get their base camps up and running and I don't need to know where you have it or what server its on. I'm very bored and the trade gives me a mission. Its disappointing that the trading post is hardly used any more.

What time zone are you on? 1pp or 3pp? Public or private? Maybe I can help.

Ha, no kidding. Its all about perspective. I've found that if you go on low pop servers and find a snipers vantage, zombies make for great target practice. Play with the "page up-page down" buttons to get your elevation and you'll eventually get the feel of it. The more I practice the luckier I get.

I wonder, is that what they were or do we call 'em that to justify the shot?

Hey guys, I watched this video the other day and it made me curious about something? The video is a DayZ contest where a bunch of players compete in a death match style game until there’s only one team left, but what has me intrigued was the commentator’s perspective. It seems they had the ability to move around the map and view the action from any position. Not only from top down but also from the players view. It’s like they had noclip, fly mode and a 1PP bot all in one. My question here is can an admin do this on a server he is hosting? If I were to host a server can I scroll around in this fashion and watch whatever is taking place on my map? Do the hosts of the servers we join have this capability?
