Zombies. Two words: aggro range. Whenever I hear shooting, it feels good to know someone else drawing the walking trouble causers elsewhere. Altho gunshots dont attract zombies so well, he might just be running from the zombies, which attracts attention.

How manny players should a server have ??

40 is the best. I gave up on Battlefield months ago. -
Anyone else feel zombies still aggro heavily?
Shaimou replied to Freekill0's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The zombies dont care about you lil' gun and its sound at all. You can go all rambo and stuff in the middle of a town and the zombies dont give a fuck. But as soon as they see you crawling somewhere far away the entire town wants you for dinner. -

Yeah. Make it like 1.7.1.5 or at least make it a server option. Crawling and they still aggro from like 20 meters away. -

Alright this is a bit insane now. You cant even loot a building without having a zombie seeing you from the windows and aggro from the fields 200 meters away. And not to even mention getting into the building in the first place. -
Zombies have really low aggro now

Still could be easier. You know, like, in 1.7.1.5? Just for the good old times' sake. -
20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon
Shaimou replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
YES. Doesnt affect difficulty very much. Finding a gun is easy but it can take long and it can be very annoying. Well, gun or no gun. Fresh spawn or an old character. The game is still very difficult with the new zombie aggro range. Just my opinion tho. Why isnt there a poll about it? Would be easier to count the votes. -

Zombie sight range HAS to be reduced. At this time its nearly impossible to get into a building without getting a horde of zombies on your ass. The second you stand up at the doorway you'll get an aggro somewhere. -

>crouch >zombie 60 meters away >go prone >aggro Its so difficult to loot towns since you will inevitably have to crawl over non-grassed soil. And then the zombies will spot you 30m away. -
No. The game is so laggy that it would be too hard. Especially for group players since zombies' pathing is client side.

To all the superzombie lovers: How do you sneak and manage to remain unseen? I have no problem with crawling around zombies and I can dodge them very well but my biggest gripes are that the zombie pathfinding is pretty random and you basically have to count on luck whether they keep looking away from you. At the point where the 'random generator' decides to turn the zombie around, you're a goner. And there are usually just massive amounts of zombies in the tiniest towns found in Chernarus. You evade one zombie, you find that another zombie is going to walk over you. And usually you just dont have the space to dodge them in a town. Stick your dick in an anthill and see how long you can keep it there until it starts to hurt. -

Yup, not amused with this update. Zombies aggro way too easily. (I always crawl in a town!) When you manage to get a zombie aggro, you'll have to run into a building with 2 exits to lose them. By running you will aggro every zombie within a large radius on the front entrance of the building. And by exiting at the other end of the building you end up aggroing the zombies on that side too. And way too often the zombies just bypass and run around the building, making that tactic useless. I'd just like to have the 1.7.1.5 aggro system back, it was perfection itself. Nothing was more fun than to crawl in a big town filled with zombies everywhere and zigzag around them and fear about aggro. Or fear that zombies will surround you and you'll have to think a best way to sneak out unnoticed. Now its just, like, zombie comes from behind a corner = You're dead. And in 1.7.1.5 you didnt have to make a plan how to enter a building through a doorway. In this patch its difficult even to get into a building since you have to crouch for a second. -

Its not as bad as I thought, but still could be better. I noticed the performance was slightly better, and thats the only upside. Zombie aggro works most of the time, but when it does not, its a nuisance. It feels the same than 1.7.1.5 as long as you dont have a bad luck and aggro a zombie from 50 meters away while crawling. Its annoying since there is nothing you can do 'bout it. Also the many servers I was on seemed to lag much and always have the yellow/red chain icon on. And still without a chain, other players movement seemed to be pretty laggy. + Performance is better. - Zombie aggro seems strange and random. - Many servers seem to have lots of connection problems and player movement lag. Overall I think 1.7.2 is a degrade from 1.7.1.5, at least until the zombie aggro and lag is fixed. Oh yes and it totally wasnt fun getting teleported into debug plains and lose all my stuff. -
So how does the zombie aggro system work when you fire a weapon? Do the zombies instantly aggro the person who fired the weapon or do they wildly run to the location where the gun was fired and then start looking for the shooter? If I fire my Enfield indoors and hide behind a large object, will the zombies walk to the point where I shot and scout around a little or do they walk towards me in a straight line? And: Im in a town and I fire my Enfield inside a warehouse. The zombies start running towards the warehouse but they have no visual on me. Am I able to sneak out from the backdoor? Do the zombies keep running into the building or do they come after me? It always feels like they know if I leave the building even if they never saw me. So yeah. Is gunfire an insta-aggro or do the zombies run to the initial area of shooting and then start to look for food? I dunno if its just my imagination or what but it usually feels like the zombies have a permanent ''target lock-on'' onto me until they get a visual and then I can lose them behind a corner. Sorry if the text is a bit confusing.

Zombie aggro behavior when shooting?

So audibility is reduced by 50% through objects and walls. I take that zombies dont hear you so well from inside of a building anymore? Does the same go for weapons too? -
>go into a barn with a friend >kill 5 zombies inside and a few that aggro from the outside >continue your journey >50 meters away from the barn, accidentally aggro a few zombies >run back into the barn; its fully occupied by zombies >they spawned back in ~1 minute >kill over 9000 zombies Later: >in a cowshed at the edge of Novy Sobor >kill a few zombies at the end of the building >go to the other end of the building to loot stuff >go back the the other side >all the zombies are back in less than a minute >shoot the zombies >the whole place aggroes onto us >shoot massive amounts of zombies because they spawn 30m+ away from us, still hear the gunshots, and spawn as fast as we can kill them So yeah, the zombie spawns are not very logical at the moment. Unless you have a silent weapon with you the looting can be a real pain in the ass... Its not really fun to loot a building for a few new mags just to discover that you just shot zombies worth of 10 mags at the door. Nor is it fun to kill hell lot of zombies just so they can spawn back when you walk to the other end of a building.

I understood that in the latest update (1.7.1.5) the zombie spawnrates have been fixed. But is it still bugged? In 1.7 you could loot a town by killing the zombies at a specific location at the town and come back later and the way was still clear. Or you could clear a building and use it as a ''safespot'' while roaming the streets nearby. Well, 1.7.1-1.7.1.4 was pure insanity. 1.7.1.5 spawnrate is much more controlled, but its still a bit off. (IMO) The zombies seem to spawn back instantly when you go 30 meters further of where they spawn. Also, using loud weapons is pretty suicidal because the aggro range is much further than the spawn range. Happened today: >go into a barn with a friend >kill 5 zombies inside and a few that aggro from the outside >continue your journey >50 meters away from the barn, accidentally aggro a few zombies >run back into the barn; its fully occupied by zombies >they spawned back in ~1 minute >kill over 9000 zombies Later: >in a cowshed at the edge of Novy Sobor >kill a few zombies at the end of the building >go to the other end of the building to loot stuff >go back the the other side >all the zombies are back in less than a minute >shoot the zombies >the whole place aggroes onto us >shoot massive amounts of zombies because they spawn 30m+ away from us, still hear the gunshots, and spawn as fast as we can kill them Am I alone with this problem?

Infected Detection behavior is not as intended

Smell! Absolutely... It stands to reason that most survivors are passing some mean smelling farts out there' date=' after all our main source of food is Baked Beans. And about those beans, exactly how do we open those without a can opener? [/quote'] It can be opened with your fingers. Ate one can of Heinz Baked Beans a week ago and it was disgusting. :S I feel bad for my character. :( Anyways great news for the fix. -
Pros: * More conscious about staying ALIVE instead of running around hoarding 20+ zombies -Running around hoarding 20+ zombies is the most effective style of play at the moment. You dont want to risk it by having a chance to aggro a zombie while you're prone. * Adds a sense of cause and effect to killing someone else. (see blurb lower down) -Makes your trigger finger even more itchy because you dont want to die. You will see people shoot each other very often after that. Just because of survival insticts and general dickheads. * Let's you get on with your life -Most people dont have one so its kind of pointless to mention. And it would be stupid to die by a bug, glitch, lag, whatever. You go around killing people, and you don't care. Why? Mostly, because you know they will simply respawn and get on with their life. -Mostly because you dont want to be the one who dies and you may want their equipment. Nothing more, nothing less. Unless you're a dick.

Yes. Zombies seem to aggro from everywhere, even through big buildings with no way to see me.
