I personally do not have any problems with their sizes, as running with these backpacks makes it easy to notice you,(basically your large profile gives you away even if you are all green or all black or whatever). and you do mention " Ask yourself if it's realistic to see one like that on a character in dayz that does so much running. No man could physically run carrying a bag of this size." then again no man could every take as many shots to their body like they do in DayZ, or be mauled to pieces just to bandage and eat up to become healthy. no one could sprint even with pure running gear from Electro to Novy Sobor, actually I doubt you could jog all that distance in one go, no breaks, no food or water intake and not slowing down. -
What do you mean by hoping DayZ does not pander to the intel crowd? I use both AMD GPU and CPU myself, but games "lean" towards Intel CPU's because Intel cpus perform noticably better per clock than AMD(this has nothing to do with the developers of the game), it's well known for quite some time that Intel performs alot better, this has nothing to do with the rendering or anything else, does reducing the CPU vs GPU utilization help current AMD cpus, yes, will Intel perform better, no doubt, You are basically comparing a CPU using 28nm(unless you are using an AMD APU which isn't much better CPU wise) node vs anywhere between 28nm and 14nm, will AMD's next CPU arch close the gap alot when they release CPU's built on 14nm node, no doubt, by how much is yet to be seen, but there probably won't be this huge void that there is now. I rarely see people say that AMD is useless in games, but compared to Intel, AMD does perform worse and in some cases noticably worse, about this making your cool or not is irrelevant(sounds like the boasting back in pre 2000 years when the one who had the biggest harddrive, or had 10% more memory than the others was the king of nerds), what makes you uncool is the 'blah blah blah'. by AMD card that would be GPU in which case the only competitor is NVidia and they are constantly trading blows anyways. Personally, I am happy in anyway they optimize the game to move more things which belongs on the GPU from the CPU, as that is just good practice for system utilization, which benefits everyone, one of the major reasons DirectX12 and Vulkan was made as well(either better performance for the same things, or more game logic or even with a more powerful GPU possible for even more impressive graphics)

Windows Vista and later has DX11 available, it's also up to the GPU to support it, You also have different DX11 versions, 11.0,11.1,11.2,11.3 and 11.4 to my knowledge. Then there is also drivers(in some cases the driver is all that needs updating for the above additional versions). The only thing which would require Windows 10 would be DirectX 12. and of course the GPU would need to support DX12(it was confirmed that DX12 support would come later, but that remains to be seen).

I forgot to mention this, but saying one can't see much difference in night life in the video, I can clearly see a difference, DX11 has subtle coloring, DX9 does not, and I do hope the subtle coloring is intentional, this can easily be spotted in the part of Elektro. Notice the change in color tones when they switch, this already is a huge difference, and one that I really enjoy.

Even though a game developer love to make games he/she/they want to, at some point all the features etc they add becomes a daily thing, how long would you brag about your new job? or what you are doing during the first week at that new job of yours? after a few years I would probably still love developing my game, but it's hard to cater over to talking to people who isn't amongst the developers. Perhaps Bohemia should hire Steve Ballmer. :P

The first section of the video really only shows weather with heavy fog, I doubt you should take that as a pointer to actual rendering distance. It's not really up to the API, most features you have in the API is to improve efficiency, eg performance of special kind of things to draw, or even allow you to do something at all without crippling your performance. like Hardware instancing for hundreds to thousands of low-medium static details objects(grass, trees) to reduce the amount of draw calls. things like graphical glitches resides outside of the actual API, and is only to blame for bad draw logic, bad packing of variables for their object/material shaders, shader code which is written poorly or using low precision data types. and yes they have commented that they are working on those issues as well.

Damn, and here I thought my 28~ FPS in Elektro/Cherno at 1920x1080 was bad on my AMD CPU/GPU combo(DayZ is cpu bottlenecked in any scenerio unless you got a REALLY bad GPU). Does CPU bottlenecked games favour Intel more, yes no doubt, but saying that AMD is bad in general(including GPUs as you said) is just...wow, my brother got an Intel 5820k with 970GTX, he barely outbeats my rig in terms of FPS. Otherwise, good tips, however there are plenty of guides about this already.

I am curious about the new rendering and post processing related parts. amongst these things I wonder as a person who has used both Triton and Silverlining Weather simulation APIs from SunDog from which I understand DayZ uses, what version of this middleware is currently in use? as I see alot of developers tend to neglect things like updating middlewares(even the ones they still have access to newer versions of, of course I can understand the reasoning, updating middleware can cause major rewrites, but in my case the change was absolutely nothing in function calls) the reason I am curious about this is, because older versions of silverlining compared to the latest version there was a huge performance increase, in my implementations of it, it was about 70~75% faster and updating atmospherics could be done quite alot more often than previously. Curious about the devs thoughts/plans in regards to this is. Love technical dev updates.

For one who has fired alot of military weapons you seem to know quite little about how easy it is to turn off the safety switch, and they also guess what, does not make any noticeable click(unless the British military special order them like that) when you do, the entire thing happens to be turned on or off either by your thumb or your index finger depending on the weapons design, atleast in most commonly militarized weapons. For one who has fired alot of "British Army" weapons you seemingly just couldn't be bothered to learn about trigger discipline, you know, in my country that would be enough for MP to hit you in the face with their weapons buttstock have you detained and thrown out of the army. Real mature for someone who is suggesting a safety switch when it is as simple as moving your index finger off the left mouse button. Had you bothered to actually read what I wrote instead of just jumping through it with a childish quote comment, you would've gotten that answer as well.

One must not forget that actually alot of the 'military' equipment you find, especially like the military army jackets and pants, well alot of militia clothes etc, are quite common in hunting gear shops(in looks). interestingly enough you get to also buy all sorts of camouflage equipment in those shops as well. Just saying, but I do agree, we need more not camo and militarized looks clothes. :)

Actually I believe they can do so because of the recently played with through steam works for DayZ(its how some cheaters can follow you to another server, they join, target a specific person, then continue to grief him until he quits completely, its the main reason I am never logged on to steam friends while in-game). Sadly, it's good luck controlling the gamma settings, as you can tune it on the screen, or in GPU drivers or in the game, all which accomodates the same end result. they can't develop an intrusive bit of code which overrides all those things(legal issues in almost any country). the only way to truly combat it is by doing something with the almost complete blackness.

You do, it's actually as simple as moving your left finger from the mouse button, the trigger discipline young padawan is a mastery you must learn! you don't walk with your finger on the trigger unless you want to shoot. unless they'd implement camera tracking of where my fingers are. id rather they didn't put in trigger lock ;) After all Gun safety includes not having finger on the trigger needlessly, you are supposed to empty the gun for ammo/magazine(you know, for safety). On some guns, I just press T(I think it was T, there should be something under DayZ control settings) to switch to semi automatic, not sure what all the weapons are that supports it in DayZ, I have tested it on AKM and M4 in the past and they seemed to work. btw- I assume its okay if I find both gamemodes nice? :)

Hah, reminds me when I found a Pipsi and a book in a outhouse.

I've seen this happen to a couple of friends of mine out in open fields lately as well, there is however no kill logs in ADM to confirm environment has killed a player only if a player has killed another one. Also been together with 2 others, everyone was sitting out in the fields, then suddenly one of us collapses and he gets you are dead message, both me and the other person was fine. there were about 6 others on the server, but we just sat still out in the fields and nothing happened to us so it most definitely wasn't a player kill, there were no kill message in ADM log(just to confirm not a player kill). I suspect there is something more than just lag or desync in some of these cases going on, the body was also at the exact same spot he was on his screen and the same spot we were seeing him.

I have no problem driving, actually in 0.54 non persistence server I had no issues whatsoever with desynch, I can not adjust to random dessynchs causing me to suddenly warp 10 or 50m ahead and then pop back, then two seconds later pop back forward again and then I've collided. That is assuming I was using turbo, in 0.55 I've had crazy desynch even on a server where I have a consistent less than 40ms. This still doesn't change the fact that I can suddenly desynch for 10 seconds not even getting a desynch message, just popping back and forth and then blam! collision. My solution in any case is just not to drive, I mainly did this for testing and found that I can't drive at all in this patch, the instant I get into a car I start to desynch like crazy. I am not saying this is an issue for everyone, this is something I've gotten problems with since 0.55 and not sure what causes it, but it is happening no matter how calmly I drive. also during a desynch you can't decellerate(just the same as you standing still and getting a desync and you noticed you've got a zombie behind you, running during desync won't help as you will just warp back again) to stop the car as input won't be updated(eg out of my hands) simple as that.

Too bad getting hit just 3 times might completely ruin your chest cloth and/or most items, this is however very random on how much they tear apart your clothes. I have however been completely healthy, and gotten killed in 10 hits, two first hits broke my leg(interesting to see that you standing naked could take more of a beating than I could with lots of gear and healthy when I tested). The worst thing is the current desynch of the zombies and warping or teleporting zombies when they get stuck. when they are at full sprint they are a real handful to deal with as they will go through you and start hitting you in the back, and when you turn around it will warp through you again.(again this is random and I consider it a bug). I've also experienced them being too close so that most mosin shots into the chest region will go through them(I assume this is due to the going through you desynch issue).
-
V3S has been a serious death trap in this patch for me, it causes major desynch, even when driving slowly I am suddenly warped 20meters forward at times and sudden collision(on top of already more than usual desynch than in 0.54, this was something I had on 0.54 persistence servers though and not on non persistence servers). Also funny to note that I've gotten pants and boots ruined every time I've collided no matter how slow I was driving and crash. Apparently I am using my feet as brakes or I am pushing the pedal through the floor and on crash my foot get wonked up. ; )

You mean like the Fireaxe weighs a measly 0.25kg and a gorka uniform jacket weighs about 1 or 2 kg(can't remember), I wonder what material the fire axe is made out of.
-
You should really try going to every deer stand on the way, as they've been pretty good to me in regards to loot. the Same with train wagons seem to be finding loot around those as well.
-
implausible? How about impossible. how about any weapon has gotten nerfed quite a bit against a zombie? I mean, you can kill a player with a 1 or 2 fireaxe hits, but a zombie unless you hit the head is 3-4+ zombies in DayZ aren't dead AFAIK, hence they should bleed and die in similar punishment that the human body(in this case the Players) can sustain AFAIK. I am all for improving AI and upping parts of the zombies, but right know, teleporting/warping zombies due to the new speed, insane attack speed which does relatively low damage to a healthy person but rips apart your clothes in a matter of a single second. zombies still spawning in your face is a really funny one. About difficulty. I've noticed I find a shit load of military loot EVERYWHERE now, not even rare. gotten 4 smersh vests and over 50 burlaps, got full military suit up in less than 20 minutes. with a mosin + LRS and over 100x ammo, meaning I can shoot zombies or players all day. however I've noticed the loot spots are kind of reversed atleast on the servers I've played on until now. places that had no or minimal loot now are the biggest loot spots, and every military barrack, firestation etc are completely empty. heck I've found more gear in the light towers, deer stands and military lookout towers. along the coast than I have in all military-fire-police buildings combined. The little building with 3 small rooms, and a fire stove in the last room also has more loot than a police station has combined now. Loot is not more sparse, rare or anything, it is simply reversed in where to find it in my experience uptil now.
