Looks like wet paper towel or toilet paper bunched up to act like a filter. Also, besides the fact that it probably does a piss poor job against tear gas; after a few exhales i bet he cant see jack shit out of it. The bottle would fog up and pretty much blind him anyways. So yeah, hopefully they allow people to make those in game to weed out the weak lol

So the only safe way to use -winxp launch is by running in windows mode?

But that breaks immersion...

Hi all, in need of some advice. Recently changed laptops due to my last one giving up the ghost. Reinstalled dayzsa and used my old settings in game. The game looks great and seemed to be showing 40-63 fps but it actually runs worse than when i had my old laptop which only ever maxed out at mid 20s fps. It takes forever to load screen once joining a server. Then it renders the char slowly then looks great and shows 50 fps but when i walk around its choppy as all hell like i was playing with 10fps or something. The newer laptop is a toshiba s50-b running win10, 8g mem, 2g radeon graphics, i7 2.gh/2.6 (all are better stats than my old laptop which ran dayz decently). Any advice is appreciated.

So update. Brought the laptop to my buddy who tracked down some different drivers after a win10 reset. Seems to run better but still suffering from lag off and on (seems to be loading all the time slowing things down). Its more playable but still not as good as my old laptop. I guess i'll have to bite the bullet and "wait for optimization" like so many others out there. Sigh.

Reloading WIP: Uncocked hammers don't click

And no half cocked position either lol -
Im in the same boat kinda. Upgraded my computer and am getting worse results than when i had my 6 year old laptop. I am wondering if my old laptop had some magical combination of garbage that made the game run decent enough. Now with newer tech i cant get the game to run anywhere close to what i used to... i guess im in the boat with the others who have to wait for optimisation. Sucks :(

Lmao rookie mistake on his part. I bet from now on he'll be tripple checking his rounds before he enters any hostile environments!

In theory this is a good idea. But most millitary items are designed and engineered to be (in a sense) the best of the best in pretty much all requirements. I dont think the millitary wants gear that makes their soldiers cold/wet/noisy/vulnerable/etc while in combat. The civilian market just doesnt measure up for the most part in real life as well. Besides the raincoat (i bet the army have better ones lol) there is nothing in game that i would choose over millitary gear. And that is until i find a gorka jacket since its pretty much waterproof as well.

Mine was almost like yours shiny57. Logged out in a barn overlooking a town the night before. I log in and decide to check the town for gear. I walk in and see guard towers, mil base!! I run in to one of the barracks and close the door behind me. Vest in the shower, awesome! Next room has combat boots, sweet! Middle room has some ammo...then i hear a gun being loaded...shit someone must be close. I go prone and close the door. I hear a door open. Nothing. No footsteps. No voices. Then my door swings open -my eyes widen and my heart races- then i see a full army geared dude strafe over wearing a jackal mask and i open fire, he does as well, bullets flying everywhere then he drops. Adreneline is pumping i check my self and not one bit of damage, ROY!!! INVINCIBLE!!! (Shanghai noon ref) In a pannic i search the dude, ghillied akm, all kinds of mags and ammo, hicap vest and the like. All ruined but i cant seem to get his gun off him. I try and try moving it but no luck. I realize he might have friends in the area so i say fuck it and bolt. Never forget your first time lol i think ive only killed 5 or 6 people since, i prefer to avoid high pop big towns for the most part lol

Even the electric mig welders still require argon or some sort of shielding gas to get any chance at a decent weld. Those who have ever tried one of those flux-core canadian tire special welders know how shitty they are compared to a proper set up like a good quality Lincoln or something. Anywho. It takes time and skill to become a decent welder. Like bc said besides good prep (grinding and cleaning the metal, which would involve grinders and grinding discs etc.) You also have to have your welder working properly and well maintained as well as the proper sized wire for what you are doing and what metal you are using (mig welders can do aluminum as well with a change of feed wire). Not only that, you have to have the hang of it. Weak welds from low voltage or wire speed or dirty substrate will break, too much voltage/incorrect wire feed speed/heat and you burn right through your metal as well as warping the shit out of everything. And thats with something "easy" like a mig. Oxy acetelene is more of an artform and requires more time and practice to get good at it. There is a reason why welders (and bodymen ;) ) are considered skilled trades. As far as the game is concerned, it would be cool to build your own vehicle armor and such but i think the game could do without it either way. And as far as end of the world setup would be it would probably look like this guy lol

i too would like to see flip flops in-game.

I absolutely agree that I'd have a really huge improvement switching to a desktop. But I bring my laptop to work many times due to the lack of playing time i get at home with life getting in the way. At work I can usually get about an hour straight of playtime. My major gripe is how now with a new computer that is better in every way (now that i have installed a ssd)... i can't get the game to run worth shit. It is unplayable atm. It used to run good enough on my 5 year old satellite laptop that died. now this new satellite with better everything, won't run it. That's what is pissing me off. I don't mind not having the "Full gaming experience" due to playing on a laptop. But it USED to run fine on the old laptop and, for the life of me, i can't understand why it won't run on this thing!!! :(

The software can only optimize certain things i guess. I also used rapid mode option and that made the benchmark test run way faster. But my gameplay is still terrible (laggy and fps drops every second) but i am thinking its a problem with dayz/ win10 /and my drivers not working together properly.
-
I went in to samsung magician and ahci and os op is on. I then noticed rapid mode was turned off. I trurned it on and ran the benchmark test, it seemed to be going much faster so i went in game to see if that helped. No difference. I dwitched my settings to high in most things but still had the same result: constant laggy gameplay and fps drops. I put it in windowed mode again to watch my processes screen. I noticed something weird in the cpu screen for performance. My cpu is 2ghz with a 2.6ghz boost. But on my screen it was showing it was currently 2.99ghz with 63 processes running...

Ill check around in magician to see what i can do. Ill also keep trying ingame settings to see what i can get out of higher settings. I only have dayz installed on this laptop atm so nothing else really uses the 2g gpu it uses the intel graphics for surfing and whatnot. I have this running on a samsung 840 evo ssd atm and it is still taking a fps shit every few seconds :( Im wondering if this is a main issue with what is going on. I think because i installed 10 fresh on this ssd and had to go through and pick out drivers to update: something isnt working right together. It really feels like the hard drive is getting bogged down. I look at processes and it seems like its about 40 things going on but my disk usage is barely anything. But looking at the graph while dayz is running its maxed out over and over and over (hence the fps spikes) Thanks to everyone for throwing their ideas in to the ring, ill report back with more findings when i get them! :)
-
I know a good pc would run dayz much better but what i cant understand is why with this new laptop: dayz is unplayable. It seems no matter what settings i do, i am getting problems. Be it lag, fps drops, weird graphic hiccups or whatever. Back to my continued quest of being able to play again.... i had to reinstall dayz because although i could play with low settings in windowed mode without noticable fps drops... the game wouldnt load after i shut down my computer. It would hang on a white screen and say dayz is not responding. Now on this new install i am getting the same issue of FPS drop. Im at my wits end and think i am going to try to uninstall win 10 and install win 7 and see if that makes a difference.
-
i was having issues with fps drops with my samsung 840 evo ssd as well just recently. i had to install samsung magician software and in it you can select to "optimize your computer to use ssd". i checked that box and did a reboot and dayz was running without the fps drops.
-
I will re do my in game settings to the way i had them before and see. Hopefully tonight or tomorrow. Will report back :)
-
Dloaded samsung magician, it was showing the computer was not optimized for ssd. I changed it and now seems that it is running much better. I had all my ingame settings set to very low but now that the fps drops are gone ill try going back to my old configuration where i was getting 50-60 fps and see how it goes. Also using speccy and hwmonitor as well as resource monitor it does seem like when in game my computer is properly switching to the radeon graphics. So it does look like it was still a hd issue causing these drops..

No change when reinstalling amd catalyst and amd drivers. So it leaves clearing cache and doing a check on the new ssd i guess?
