I'm looking for a group of active, likeminded players who know how to play (i'm relatively experienced, but by no means amazing) and have some organisation to them! I want to be able to experience the parts of DayZ that you can't whilst playing Solo.. E.g. Raids, Vehicles, and having people have your back. That's not to say I haven't done those things on my own, but I know with a clan who have my back it'll be far more efficient, fun and enjoyable. Still fairly new to this, but the idea of having a group of people constantly raiding, who know what they're doing seems too good to pass up. Is there anything specific clans look for when they recruit? And on the off-chance, would anyone be willing to take on a fairly new player? If not, no worries, but I occasionally write for a gaming blog (not that big, but a fair couple thousand views a day), and I'd be more than happy to write an article about the life of a true bandit in DayZ. Something that hasn't quite been done yet, and could earn a clan a fair amount of notoriety! Cheers, Matt

I only fear logging in and someone getting a cheap kill. Other than that it's the usual shoot'n'loot no matter how I'm feeling.

I don't have the energy right now to read through all the replies, but here's my 2 cents ; New players such as myself who are completely unfamiliar with the game, it's a nightmare. We have no experience with dodging zombies, and whether you know it or not, more experienced players subconsciously know roughly how close you can get to a zombie without getting exposed. To take away the starting weapon is to leave us completely defenceless, and 9/10 times we're going to get ourselves killed. It doesn't make for a very enjoyable first 10 hours until we get to grips with it. I believe the idea about giving a revolver with 6 shots only would be perfect. We don't feel totally unarmed, and if worst comes to worst and we do get spotted, we still have the slightest chance of staying alive, which is reassuring and will help keep us motivated. Once, I managed to respawn in a 1.7.0 game even though I had the 1.7.1 files, and I was given a handgun and 6 clips.. It really made the game that much more enjoyable, and makes it just that little bit less daunting for people with no idea..

Straight off, this is not a whining thread. I need help. Having never played Day Z before, and having my first day today where the 'cruel' patch came out, I think I'm at a slight disadvantage. With these new crazy zombies and a lack of weapons starting out, what advice would you give to someone with absolutely no experience thus far? Please don't say read the tutorials, I have, and I've also watched the videos and everything, except they don't account for these new crazy zombies. So if you've got any advice, please share it with me, even hit me up with a PM if you don't wanna go public with it. Also, I have managed to occasionally find a couple of Makarovs, so how many shots does it take to kill in zed (in the body), cause I feel as though I'm wasting precious ammo.. And last thing, I can never seem to avoid zombies.. I'll prone, go slowly and everything.. but then one will see me, and all hell breaks loose cause he starts shouting to his buddies and then they're all over me.. again. HELP :)

You could try make a base, set up a stash and continue collecting weapons etc :)

I have no sad story, nor have I ever been killed, and I've only had the game for a day. I get my kicks from tricking people and stealing from them. As soon as you're of no use to me, you'll be dead, rather than being a burden. Saying that, I suck at Day Z right now, but the time will come.

Yeah, whilst I was waiting for my internet to get set up I was playing Arma 2 Free a fair bit just to get to grips with the controls etc. Thanks for the advice, it's the exact kind of thing I was looking for. How would I go about vaulting over a wall? Also, a tip from me if anyones interested - If you have extra buttons on your mouse, assign them to NumPad 3 and 1! Much easier to see if you're being chased when you can look on each side of you with your hands on the mouse! And finally, would you object to me quoting what you said and putting in on the main post? It'll make it easier for anyone in the same situation as me, especially if this thread gets a few replies (hopefully!)

Six Updater is fairly simple to use.. Select a server which has the highest version number e.g. right now it's 1.7.1.1 and click on it. Then the big button at the side will go orange and say UPDATE. Click it, done :D

Did that earlier by accident. Can't find the 1.7.0 files though unfortunately!

Shame I don't have that level of aiming skill :p.. or any aiming skill for that matter.. Hell, even a gun half the time.

Good to see the zombies are less scary :D Other than that, fantastic job. Pretty sure everyone's insanely grateful for the effort you're putting in with these patches (especially working on a sunday). Thanks again :)

ARMA 2 : CO is just a package of ARMA 2 and Operation Arrowhead, you don't need to buy anything else :)

Server's lie. Keep trying and you'll find one that works, trust me :) I've been in the same situation all day.

Even looting is ridiculous, half the spots are covered in zombies, and we have absolutely no protection against them except running.. Which doesn't even work.

I don't think Melee weapons will be added, I read an interview with Rocket and he wasn't keen on the idea. The pistols worked fine I think, new players should just have a 10 minute pvp protection on them or something..

I agree, I've started today and played for around 6 hours.. So far about 6 restarts, and not a weapon to be found.. I mean honestly, how are we supposed to go looting? 3/5 of the places I checked for loot had zombies either outside the door, or right inside, without any means of defending yourself.. not even a little bit. Encouraging teamwork is great, but with 50 players on one server, it ain't easy to get a team.. In those whole 6 hours I've seen one person who was also weaponless, and he died.
