This game will only be a niche .....

Calling DayZ:SA an MMORPG surely ain't that far of the mark? And rocket have even tried to create factions through bandits and heroes. And even though I myself hate that concept, I'm not one to say it can't be done in a fashion that makes the DayZ experience even more immersive? But my motive is not to silence any critics. Disagreements often leads to the best solutions. But even silence is better than destructive attempts at silencing a debate through ridicule. And no, I don't know OP.

I was obviously not referencing you. You made a reflected post where you brought your arguments to the table. I was talking about the "cool guys" making the 5-6 first posts, being rude assholes and bringing nothing to the table. More than fed up with that kind of immature douchebaggery.

Wow. This is a great fucking post. Well, back to the case. People are saying DayZ is so unique because it's so unlinear. Well, some of the elements may be unlinear, but there's nothing unlinear about the experience. You loot up, you die. That's DayZ. And that's why mods like Epoch, Overwatch and Origins have overthrown the original DayZ in popularity. They bring about endgames DayZ never have. And although I love the time I've had with Standalone so far the endgame is sorely missing. I'm not expecting miracles overnight here, but long range that's imperative to the game's success. There's a limit to how long people stick around with a loot'n'shooter, the game needs more character development and activites than that. And I'm going off-topic here, but it's laughably pathetic the way some of you guys swarm up in defensive positions around here whenever constructive critisism is brought to the table. If it's asslicking or just plain old white-knighting I'll never know, but besides boosting your post count there's little value in it. Get a perspective and think for yourselves. I don't agree with all OP's points, but the man has some valid points that deserves better answers than "HURR DURR THE GAME HAS SOLD 300,000 YOUR SPELING SUX". If that's your contribution to a topic, heed my advice and fuck off.
  4. We have added pistol suicide and cannibalism to the server. Oh, and there's reports of heavy snowfall and a very christmas inspired atmosphere at the traders for the holidays. Happy holidays, everyone! Hope to see you on The Purgatory in between your Standalone sessions. The IP is 94.23.112.8:2302 :)

DayZ UI / HUD Photoshoped *UPDATED*

It looks good, but it doesn' have that DayZ feel it needs. To stylish, needs more simplicity.

Why is this not in the game yet?

This is actually the best solution I've hard to the Public Hive-problems, but imagine the storm of rage when 14 year olds get disconnected and can't play for 30 minutes because the server is full. The way I see it, the format of DayZ is simply made for Private Hives, I think it's as easy as that.

so far from a DayZ Veteran (Feedback)

As I've said in other topics as well, you counter PvP by adding incentives for other activities such as base building, farming, learning medical/engineering skills etc. Basically developing your character. The more the game let's you focus on surviving and other fun activites, the less people will spend their days shooting Bambis. Reducing ammo, introducing humanity or making zombies stronger is just adding more grinding to the experience, players won't stop looking for ammo just because it is rare. But will it make DayZ a better game? No. Adding activites and incentives for teamplay will. As of today DayZ lets you do two things; loot and shoot. Surely it can't be a suprise that when people are done looting, they start shooting.

    PvP... and not much else.

People whining about PvP in DayZ is beyond me. Firstly because that's trying to dictate how other players should play the game, and secondly it's undermining the essence of the game. I enjoy trying to be friendly as well, because I find that as a much fresher take on the experience the game brings about, but I realize that not everyone has my exact needs and wants. Most players I've met unarmed have been more than friendly, but most players I have met with guns have been hostile. I don't think it has anything to do with PvP per se. I think it's human instincts of fear of losing your progress that drive players into that kind of behavior. When it comes to coast wipers and bambi killers, I'm having a harder time seeing their rationale, but I guess there's someone who enjoy that as well. How to counter this? Well, the quick-fix would be to make guns and ammo far more rare. The devs have obviously done an effort in this regard when it comes to the new weapon system with modular addons, bullets and magazines. I'm fairly certain that is bound to fail. What my DayZ days has tought me is that idle hands are the devils workforce. When people have looted all they can and are geared to the max, then of course their focus turns to other things. And in DayZ there are no other things to do than to hunt other players. How to solve it? Look to Epoch. Add activities. Vehicles, base building. Something to do besides PvP. And then, naturally PvP would re reduced.

How to get M4 in Minutes.

Guess this thread is an as good example as any as to how different players enjoy different experiences in DayZ. To me, following this guide would be a huge drain on my motivation. What I love about DayZ is trying to emulate the feeling that each life is special. The looting process is kind of a way to build a story around it. And as the game stands today - when you're done looting, then what? Back to "Generic Shooter 4" on NWA or kill Bambis in Cherno? Fine, but that's not what I love about DayZ.

    Discussion: Let's talk about AI.

It's a good call to make the zombies spawn serverside. But it brings about the problem of making the zombies threatening enough, as server optimalization conciderations come in to play very quickly. It eradicates the problem of meta-gaming by "looking for zeds" when you enter a POI. It also forms new possibilites in the form of hoarding zomies and more dynamic zombie behavior. But as of today the zombies are, well. Not optimal I guess we can say. I love their animations, that's a huge plus. And they've got an even scarier feel than in the mod. On the other hand, they are no-clipping non-stop. Through walls, through floors, you name it. And this just might be me, but I'm having a hard time figuring out the detection system. Seems a bit random. And it's a tad bit irritating that sometimes the zombies have a hit range of 2m while i have the hit range of 0,5m. Oh, and the bat and the wrench is useless for fighting zombies. Gotta fix that. So I guess my conclusion is, as most other things in this alpha, that it brings about great possibilites for the future, but it ain't much to brag about today.

    2 guys, same ip

Shouldn't be a problem as far as I know. Had a couple of friends over on the day of release, and we played throughout the night with no problems.

    DayZ Database

Not everything has to be quantified. Part of what makes Day Z fun is the unpredictability and fear. Being able to check some database to see if someone is good or bad takes that away.

Wasn't really an issue untill people on the forums started whining about it. Now every troll and griefer around knows about it and uses it extensively. It's had a kinetic effect - when you focus on the problem, it get much bigger. Fucking sandbags as well.
