    Bus hijack in Vybor!

last night i suicided because imo when you get fully geared up the game kinda becomes a little too easy. about half hour ago i'm jogging up the east coast and I hear a car, so i started tracking it. passed through Factory, seeing a Ural just between buildings etc, always roughly a klic ahead. as the driver leaves Factory he starts stopping and starting, jumping out to check something, then driving a little further. this gave me the opportunity to catch up. anyways, this goes on for a while then he stops again. i'm very close at this point - close enough to hear him get his tool kit out and start fixing the Ural. Darted out from the shrubbery, sprinted a nerve racking 100 meters to the road and the Ural, then twatted him to death with a hatchet. only problem is, i'm now fully geared up again and cruising around Chenarus in a Ural with dodgy front wheels. to the poor sod i just axe murdered - sucks to be you! that was some serious gear... all very-rare according to the dayz wiki... apart from the double barrelled shotgun... still... better too much than not enough!

    This is getting old...

gotta say, that was pretty funny...
  9. think this has already been posted, but here it is again
  10. it can take a while to load, but it'll get there in the end most of the time. this is what smart phones are for.
  11. probably already in this thread, but here it is again.
  12. Loving 1.7.2.3. New zombie ai is awesome. Keep chopping and changing it around rocket.
  13. Enjoying .2 so far. Aggro does seam more random and like it. Performance still an issue for me when there's other playing around. Like it.
  14. http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php. patch note that stood out for me: [93989] Changed: When dropping weapon unrelated magazine will not be dropped.
  15. Buddy, the only person here being childish is you. Sure, the OPs post has limited value, and he isn't taking part in the spirit of an alpha test. But I think what he's saying has merit, in that we've all had deaths that are infuriating in their stupidity, and that these need to be addressed before the game goes to beta. Myself, I was just shot in the back by a server hopper last night, I cleared a room, went to walk out of it and was shot in the back by someone who popped in behind me. 17 day old character dead. It's maddening and people won't be happy with it if this game goes live and they've paid something for it. Now, I turn the argument around on you. What in the hell are YOU contributing here? You go on a fucking tirade against this guy, and for what purpose? Did you calling him a twatsock or wtfever you called him help make this a better mod? Did it help make the forums a better place? No, of course it didn't. All it did is establish the now undeniable fact that you are an asshole hiding behind the anonimity of the internet. Additionally, it likely highlighted your bias towards the game in its current incarnation, and in some fucked up version of stockholm syndrome you're actually defending the game and mod in its current state even though it is obviously an EXTREMELY flawed work in progress. The only thing you've helped here is your extremely low self esteem. By acting the internet tough guy for 15 minutes you've distracted yourself from your overweight frame, cheeto encrusted beard and tiny pecker. Good fucking job buddy, you've officially made DayZ a better mod. Asshat. +1 +1 +1 +1
  16. what is it with all you DC whining twats?! Poor 'ickle egomaniacs being robbed of their pointless kills? Out of that entire video the only thing you could think to say or point out was that he DC'd - despite the game being so definitively over for him. Only thing that surprises me is that i was surprised by the DC comments. Steve - cool vid bro. emergent moments like that are what DayZ's all about, imo. Kinda moments you stumble into by not laying on a hill with a sniper rifle for hours on end.
  17. battleye will always kick me when i try to use trackirfixer, which sucks. are battleye exceptions handled by whoever makes battle eye or server admins? if it's server side could we have it built in to the next dayz build? that would be awesome!

    TrackIRFixer & battle eye

just got freetrack up and running properly - my settings were farked. just as good.
  19. is it possible to make it so you can equip a chem light and stick it to your vest or somewhere outside your vision, so you don't have this blinding red/green/blue stick swinging around in front of you? they seam to stick to ceilings and walls just fine. when i'm looking forwards, as useful as a chem light can be, the stick doesn't just get annoying, but imo it ruins the aesthetic as well. looking over my shoulder/behind with a chem light's awesome - the subtle coloured illumination bleeding into the white/grey/black contrast of the background landscape and sky at night looks awesome... then i look forward again and the image is ruined. i think the same should be true of the flash light as well. get it out of the field of vision and at arms length or something (unless you're crouching or prone). you could make it so when holding down alt to look around the flash light rotates with the head? holding a flash light like a gun and using your whole body to aim it just seams odd to me.
  20. oooooh, i smell a sore looser. it does suck though, i must admit. amount of time I've wanted to hunt-someone-the-fuck-down(!!!!!!!)!

    chem lights and contrast

you can still see the actual stick for 100's of meters, though. when i first started playing DayZ, i remember freak'n out in the pitch black after getting some good kit when i saw the stick of a blue chem-light coming towards me. went prone, extinguished... everything, waited 10 minutes. nothing... thought to myself, he's doing what i'm doing. rolled across. chem light still there, moving ever-so-slightly. thus began a game of cat and mouse involving myself, flares and warning shots across the bow of a discarded chem-light that looked like it was moving because, at that distance, it wasn't being anti-aliased properly.
  22. love playing at night.
  23. keep scoped assault rifles, and the winchester, but i think sniper rifles don't really fit this game. i think it would be better to force a certain level of interaction (whether hostile or friendly) and sniper rifles just enable too great a distance, and create completely impersonal moments. i was nicely geared up the other day, walking slowly along the edge of cherno in a tree line, checking for activity, being cautious, minding my own business. having just travelled north, then east, then back down south it was actually nice to see a large town... blam. dead. completely out of the blue, completely out of nowhere... what a shit way to end what had been a thoroughly entertaining story. there had been close shaves, zed problems, random encounters (hostile and friendly)... then a sniper rifle was added to the mix and that was that. this is, imo, what will quickly put people off. it's just a bad ending. i appreciate and enjoy the risks of urban areas, but to get plugged from a mile away is just frustrating and an entirely crap way to die. this was, imo, a good ending. spawned after being randomly plugged from some ridiculous range. quickly spotted a flash light further down the beach, so jogged along to catch up. direct comm's got going and into cherno we travelled. snooped from house to house, ran in to some zeds but luckily i'd picked up a 1911 so dealt with them. by this point there were three of us. suddenly a flare arched across they sky and we all froze. bullets ricocheted and whizzed over shoulders - comms lit up. where is he? dunno, looked like the flare came from that building... etc. we crawled along the edge of the flares light. more bullets, more ricochets, one down after another. etc, etc. we all died, eventually. out gunned and out positioned. but it was a good death and trying to survive the encounter was brilliant. walking. walking. was that gun fire? dead. is not a good encounter - it's boring. it's not a question of skill, it's a question of who has one and who doesn't (or at least that's what its become). imo players should not be able to essentially remove themselves from the core of the game. every decision should come with a risk, every movement needs to be measured - planting yourself on top of a hill with nvg's and a sniper rifle is so close to risk free that i just don't believe it adds anything worthwhile (unless, of course, you enjoy indiscriminate killing). love the game, and i'm absolutely not anti-bandit - this game would be crap without them. i just think the fact everything can so suddenly come crashing to a halt is a major balance issue.
