That noooo was pretty funny

So halfway through the game you just up the system requirements?
Razgries replied to DukeHenry's topic in General Discussion
Yeah you are going to have to upgrade friend, hardware has been evolving pretty rapidly the past decade. But the Software has been staying behind pumping out X-Box 360/low spec PC engines for years, this last generation of consoles lasted the longest and held everything back. Software is catching up, it's going to go full sprint here soon and your PC will be unable to run many new titles anyway now that all developers are moving to the next next generation. This already happened to a bunch of us with Direct X 9-10 and Windows XP/Vista. I started on a real potato that could barely run Half Life, my first PC game, been tinkering with them ever since. What you should really do is just rebuild entirely into a 6-8 core AMD budget build with some mid range liquid cooling for 500-700$. And don't ever touch the clock settings until you research, AMD can really crank it up, but if ur PSU/MOBO are not rated for the voltage... Cost me mine because I was trying to push games like old DayZ:SA and GTA:V to get more out of the only two cores it used, got 142 fps in The Witcher 3 so I was like it has to work better then this... And be careful some DX11 cards are not DX12 compatible, that new engine will be optimized for 4++ cores I believe, the old engine was catered to 1 Core. So you might want to get ahead of the game a bit, welcome to PC master race, where parts get better every 6 months! :) -
It's fantastic getting 85 fps in the edge of a town I just left, was getting little dips down to like 37-38 but mostly 50+ and I reset everything to high.
-
The thing is tho the wait... Man I have been hyping on DX11-12 for freaking ever... ARK has been delaying DirectX-12 for like 5 months now... I am tired of getting delayed. Don't get me wrong, I've got the utmost patience and respect for these guys, just... I want to play something on it's new engine already.
-
Well said man, yeah this is the real hype right here, I am so looking forward to 6.0 and just playing the hell out of it so they get as much data as they can. This is really when DayZ starts.
-
Hahaha damn I just caught up on this thread, and went to brian's Twitter to see what was up since that's where all the hot news seems to be... I saw these images in this order on the left, made me laugh.... You all raise good points, I guess we should all just move on...? At least for awhile. :P

Damn okay, you're just being thick here, when I say Series I mean every one of the games in that franchise took a minimum four years. For Fallout that starts with 3, New Vegas, and Four, not including time for DLC work. The same for The Elder Scrolls from Morrowind and beyond, Diablo 3 statement uhh... okay? Everyone expected 3 but by the time it finally came it did not meet the hype, still, 11 years, you're just like 3 sucked so it don't matter? I don't know you lost me there. Duke Nukem 3D? I'm talking about Duke Nukem Forever, the one that came out in 2011? And you are not a true PC game if you don't give a shit about Deus Ex, that games as pivotal as System Shock, Diablo 2, and Half Life in the 90s, so many games have taken from that you have no idea. Now let me point out this VERY IMPORTANT FACT...again, ALL of these games done in 4 years had OVER 100+ PEOPLE WORKING ON IT! This... is... a small team, would compare the staff size to Guild Wars 2 early-mid production, probably around 40-60 individuals. You are just butt hurt and being a difficult child here, a game of this scope, I would easily expect 6 years development for a finished product. We just now broke into year TWO, and you're here trippin already? Like I said earlier I love the opportunity to take part in early access as a true fan of gaming since I could operate my thumbs. But it lets all you noobs get in here and trash up the community with your impatience and it just sucks, the guys working on the game coming here to see what we think don't need to see this shit... And they don't need any flak to get picked up and thrown at them by there bosses because you guys want to raise hell and say they are not doing good enough. I don't think you had any damn clue what you where buying you just thought I heard good things about this mod, I'ma buy the game. They went into early access way too early they should be going into early access NOW that the new engine is about to show up, you all sat here and got bitter on them. I hope Hicks never says another ETA on anything again, you guys just hold them as nails to crucify him with, when all he is trying to do is calm you all the fuck down.

Well it aint my fault they took them out. And I never said I had "no idea" that was you... I have an idea, I could imagine a nice spread of Infected all over instead of just in towns... I've played Breaking Point, and I saw when they had too many Infected and they swarmed, I've played some indie titles on Steam and still pick up State of Decay from time to time. Why so condescending with your reply m8? And in regards to that big ol post you made of "Why my game should be done now"... The Elder Scrolls series- 4 years Fallout series- 4 years Guild Wars 2- 6 years GTA V- 4 years Deus-Ex- 11 years Diablo 3- 7+ years I could keep looking up more of these fat numbers and adding to the list but I'll stop there... And trust me there are more, even some really bad games that took much longer then this would IF your estimated development time was accurate. like Duke Nukem... Pretty much that way with everything, some games have taken even longer then most like Diablo 3 which should have been a no-brainer to produce, but still took 11 years because...reasons... Most of the games that took 4 years had over 100+ people working on them. We are just now heading into the 4 year mark with huge changes just ahead, literally getting videos where Hicks is saying "This is going to change everything there will be perf gains" and you're like "This is taking to long my information says you have made enough money should be done by now"? Early Access is a new thing and while it has a lot of potential for "extra" play testers it also has to deal with a ton of negatives that to be honest I don't think is worth it. Like clueless ninnies giving them bad reviews on Steam, and impatient folks going all J.G Wentworth every time something gets shown but they don't get it like next week...
-
That IS awesome! Throwing things was so bad last time I played I don't even bother picking up grenades...
-
They probably expected the transition to the new engine to go smoother then it has or something. To be honest though, in my humble opinion, if they can run around Chernarus and pick up stuff, then that is good enough for me... I've already played with 0 Infected pretty much from day 1 when I got the game. I don't even know what the standard DayZ is supposed to be I never played the mod... It CAN'T be much worse then that! I could get on and play now with some but the unstable FPS around any towns on my AMD FX-8320 just got to be too much for me. Seems like every time I get shot at and prepare to defend myself... The moment I aim the micro pausing kicks in and I just get shot. It's such a pain trying to time my attacks to be right after one and constantly being forced to start over and have to hike miles back to where I was, only to get shot on the way because I am forced back to Murder Town on the coast and in to big of a hurry to get back North West... I love Clock Tower, It's an amazing area one of the best slide shows I have seen in DayZ. ;o Well, I did see Infected when they over did it and they would trap you in a building and just zerg you to death, probably the best day I had in-game, ever... Yeah shoot at me now! *sits and watches them swarm the building they hid inside* Sweet Zombie Justice... But I see what you mean, sadly it looks like they will probably miss beta at the start of Q2. But I have faith in the guys behind the scene, this is still going to be a great year for DayZ. Once they have there new engine in and all the custom scripting tools are in place things will probably hit a nice pace. And I'm sure a dev-kit deal similar to Eden will soon follow and the community can begin contributing in earnest.
-
Haha you know on the topic of them being infected and not "undead"... I was playing Dying Light the other day and one of the more aggressive feral ladies put up her hands like no no please don't when I whacked her upside the head with a flaming baseball bat. Needless to say it made me pause and kinda blew my mind a bit because I realized they where still alive, for the first time murdering "Zombies" I felt empathy. It would be cool if they occasionally spoke or something in DayZ at some point. She lunged at me again and I beat the crap out of her, but it was one of those small moments that really add something special to that game. It's the only time I can recall ever being given a reason to pause in a zombie beat down.

Yeah I have to agree with the others so far it's not worth the resources. I do not mind waiting even several months from now myself. It's been a long time already but I've grown even more patient then I was when things started. Thanks to the transparency in the updates and research I have done, understanding more and more of what is really going on and the complexity of rendering, programming, and trouble shooting code. Tbh I think debugging is definitely harder then compiling the stuff, whats doing that, where is it!?(I love this clip)

Umm the Status Report was great I don't really care about it being a video, that is just unnecessary work in my opinion. It could take quite awhile to put together a video of professional standards Vs the nice text format they use now. But to each his own I guess, btw I played a little bit the other day and I gotta say footsteps are just to damn loud. I was in a house crouched and walking around on the second floor, this guy is running down the road and stops at the car outside. I just take a few crouched steps back from the window and bam, he heard me, came right inside with his sledge hammer swinging. <_< Why is there no walk key like say Counter Strike that reduces your noise? And why does sound travel so clearly from inside a house in all directions... You can probably stand at the base of an apartment building and hear someone on the third floor...

-Read this thread, https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/224710-performance-issues/ cfg settings are the most important, set them to read-only when you are done else if you change ANYTHING in-game it all resets. -Go into your BIOS and make sure your memory is configured properly. I did this recently and it helped me a bunch, with my hiccups in all games that suffered them. You have Intel so you should have an XMP preset profile just waiting for you to select it. I had to get CPUZ and set all mine manually since I guess for some reason XMP profiles only work for Intel chipsets... You'll have to find your way around the BIOS on your own, its not too hard. -Put DayZ on your SSD if you have not already -Wait just a little bit longer and look forward to the soon to be public testing Enfusion Engine. Hope that helps you out o7

I think I said more remote locations in the forest like cabins and such, if the whole public hive thing was gone and characters are server specific all of this would work quite well compared to now. Someone could just ghost into your base of operations, and btw being a Sniper does not mean you are obligated to shoot the target. I've watched plenty of people through a scope and never fired at them, mostly because I'm not in it for murder. I was drawn in with the description on the front page. And the moment I got in I just started getting executed by people while I was still a bambi just for saying "Hi I'm new to DayZ". "authentic, open-world survival horror hybrid-MMO game, in which players follow a single goal: to survive in the harsh post-apocalyptic landscape as long as they can. Players can live through powerful events and emotions arising from the ever-evolving emergent gameplay." Sadly the Players are 1,000x harsher then the environment at the moment so your pretty much a mouse to a bunch of mean ass cats if you just stroll up and say hi... I still have screens from my first encounter, they tried getting me to put my hands up and I flipped them off, the whole thing lasted a few minutes and it was pretty tense for me. They almost let me go but "Jester" was a loose cannon and shot me in the back of the head when they gave me supplies and sent me on my way. <_< It's pretty fun to just stalk someone sometimes and observe what kind of player they are and how they treat others, it feels better to shoot someone that you know deserves it THEN take all there sweet gear that is still intact because of that boss headshot... then to just cap someone and find a note on him telling you he was a nice guy and your an asshole. And it's great practice following just one person and not getting detected. Without that experience I could not follow a group that splinters and watches all directions nearly as well. It's still a huge struggle to stalk well with everyone being so addicted to third person, and so many servers you get tired of running around seeing no players or Zombies for hours and just start bolting through everything. Dammit it's only been 3 DayZ... I want to play 0.60, I hope its not the end of February... :P
-
Internally we're hoping to have our next .60 update out late next month. I don't want to get any of you too hyped, but internally we've been observing outstanding client side performance (frame rate) with the new renderer technology. Paired with the performance increase of the New UI, and iteration upon the inventory and UI skinning - we're *hoping* to see .60 be a hell of an update. Please keep in mind as these systems are merged into test we could easily stumble across blocking issues, and we'll continue to keep everyone appraised on the status of these if they arise. -*tries to stay calm*... Finally, I can't wait to test 0.60! Oh and that opening screen shot, what a cool little spot that is, well done whoever set that up! Base Building will be cool, but you know I have played ARK, Minecraft and RUST... People leave garbage/junk all over and it's pretty annoying, specially with how abusive people are because it's the Internet, you can literally spawn into someones prison cell... I would be happy to just fortify a position like that with some good cover to take in case of attack. We need more remote cabins in the forests, I think things like this would fit DayZ much better then snap-2-build madness like everything else is using. I mean technically everything is already available, from giant apartments/schools that could house 20+ players to individual tents. Thanks for the update, and welcome back! o7
-
I like the thought of undergrowth on the ground, but that can be demanding on PCs, then again most players get fantastic FPS in the forest so there is room to play deep in the woods. Maybe the option to spray paint a tent like you can weapons black/green and drape netting over them would be enough. As it is now the bright blue tents stick out like a sore thumb from very far away. I found one camp in the short time I was playing with an AUG and an ammo box full of ammo and an extra mag for it on PTR, I saw it from over 100m away through the trees and was like what the heck is that (was my first time seeing civilian tent)... I left them my AKM and all my mags so I didn't feel bad about it. But I knew then tents while persistent where far too visible to keep things safe over night on a very busy server.

Hey there man, yeah sorry to have to confirm but it all comes down to your CPU, you built nearly the exact same thing I did when I bought DayZ almost a year ago now. Those eight cores are great for say, streaming, or running other applications while you play a game and alt+tabbing quickly. But for many games you will notice your CPU is only using 15-20% of it's potential output because they pretty much ignore more then what they where designed to use. Your CPU WILL be good enough eventually, when they move past the dated DirectX and onto there next-generation engine they have been working on. Hopefully it's in the earlier parts of 2016 and not the latter... I feel like I have been waiting forever for DayZ and Arma 3 to update. I think I read the next Arma 3 Expansion is going to have it, so DayZ has to be close. It will be so great to not have to juggle my FPS drops with any risky encounters! My advice to you is to just forget about the game for awhile, find something else to entertain you while you wait it out. Don't replace your CPU with an older i3 or i5, what you have now is on par with an i7 in most regards and they too have FPS issues. When it starts firing on all 8 cylinders instead of two/four stroke, you will have better performance, and the dive bombs to below 10 will be gone!   (Seriously my anticipation of this can not be overstated I miss this game tons) Pick up Fallout 4, it runs great on the FX-8320 and it'll scratch that post-apocalyptic itch you probably have now. If you want to tough it out just avoid all large cities, it's very playable in the country side and smaller towns... But it will still hiccup right when you are about to get shot at...or in a barn on some stairs.

Thank you guys for all your hard work, I know people are tripping right now and getting upset over stable/test, but that is all old stuff and they just don't get it, they want it now! I look forward to the things you will accomplish when your new scripting engine is in place, and your whole team can work on just that platform. And not have to focus on developing a new engine AND keeping a playable game for all the people that had no idea what they where buying into are satisfied.
-
You can use a custom action to idle/walk/run like a zombie in breaking point for arma 3, but its pretty obvious if you have weapons on your back that you are a player... Still, was interesting to join the konga line and chase a guy, and it seems to help with zombie detection... You can play as a zombie too if you get two factions to rank 3.
-
Was just looking up old status reports to find the last dev reference on the new engine, really looking forward to it. Estimated completion date of support for DirectX 11 is mid to late May 2015. Q1 2015 report

This is why I don't bother complaining about things like this, sure the game may be feeling like it's getting a little worn out for those of us that play it more then we should... But we are getting a rare opportunity here to interact with a very open development team and help impact something that normally us average players never get to see until it's finished. It's just silly to gripe about feeling bored after choosing to opt into this situation. We have like 50+ more updates with new things coming our way, tons of new features planned, improved Zombies just days out I believe. Patience my friends, patience...

You aren't ever going to go here, so this is what it looks like.

Been using this and the local military base in the woods as a safe place to gear up for the past 8-12 days now since I accidentally ran across it leaving Novo... So glad that you special gems are pointing out where it is in the forums so I can get KoS'd while logging in up there now. Thanks so much for showing off what an explorer you are and saving everyone the trouble of discovering it on there own! -
Right so it's OKAY to have an option to make the nights look like a super clear black and white video and have the option to have your server 24/7 night/day.... But it's NOT okay to remove a little bit of grass to boost everyones FPS by like 15-30 points? I'm sorry but this just does not make sense to me, the latter is far less comparable to cheating then the first. I'm just really sick of the FPS dumps every minute or two, and I know this would really help fix it. I don't think anyone besides the few people that invest the time into a guilly suit care, and lets be honest... Anytime I actually see these people, they are NOT laying in the grass anyway.... lol? Edit: forgot that the people in the Guilly suit "care"... the irony of this can not be overstated :P

Cool, did you find your sword? I finally found one on the new island, it took me abut an hour swimming out there and searching to find it. I came back inland a few days later from logging out close to the shore omw back because the swim about put me to sleep. I met this nice guy growing a ton of Zuccini in the town just south, hung out with like 4-5 bambis and had a good time. Then this paranoid guy from inland with an AK covered in Ghilli comes out of the woods and tells me and 3 others to put our hands up when we head to the police station towards the back of town... I do, we all do, even get on our knees and tell him to chill out we don't even have weapons. He promptly blasted the guy on his left and me next, and the other guy, I don't know what happened to him, maybe he was lucky enough to be the one in the middle. I was pretty pissed and have not been back on since, I didn't even get to use the damn thing before someone going "SURRENDER" shoots you for complying. People on this game are idiots. I would be less mad if they just shot me without saying anything, I'm perfectly fine with being robbed, tortured, killed on sight, even being betrayed half an hour later. I hate liars though, and stuff like this just makes me think it's always going to be boring murderers who say don't shoot I am friendly or put your hands up and shoot anyway. I'm not going to have any cool DayZ stories at this rate, it's just "I got shot by a friendly". <_<
