Just wanted to trim that down a little bit for the feedback and as those two options I left in there are what I went with lol. Really great tips man I didn't even need to measure my fps to tell you how much better that made my game. Plus I did like the skip intro bit, didn't realize what kind of difference that would make logging in but it certainly was more streamlined after that. I set mine up with your suggested max settings for memory and vram at 4094 and so far my computer has been crushing it. I appreciate how you wrote that in a way a computer scrub like me could do it lol, granted the process of doing it isn't hard, it's the knowing what to do in the first place that I'm lost on haha

...I would just love to not fear for my life that some sort of horrible bug or something is going to happen where a zombie one hit bitch slaps me into my grave haha feeling like the character was a little more competent in fighting for its life would be nice. But in all seriousness it's early so I'm sure my fears will be addressed lol, and those were some great ideas I'm glad I read the post. Once things as far as connection are taken care of, because that's the root problem here, no melee system is the right answer till all the bugginess is taken care of lol. I would like to see some slightly realistic applications of force and momentum if you were to use a blunt object, because then you could physically deflect a zombie away, or my favorite idea, let us do some leg breaking on the zombies, that seems fair right? Sure they don't feel pain but it's much easier to flee a one legged zombie I would imagine. I think it would just be nice to finally see the other weapons actually be remotely useful, instead of fire axe FTW lol

Hey guys my name is Mike I'm 22 and live in NY, my steam link is http://steamcommunity.com/id/EpicMike/ Got DayZ a while back, played the hell out of it for like a week or two with my buddy and then we both got distracted with work and other games. I just recently picked it up again and have been having a lot of fun with the game just playing solo, looting the towns, learning to navigate the map, dealing with the occasional if slightly underpowered zombie lol. I want to be involved more in the pvp side but since none of my friends play this game I figured I would give it a shot on here. It does seem like a lot of fun and it certainly adds a lot more excitement to the game when it comes to dealing with other people. My playstyle from what I've seen people mention on here would definitely be hero/survivor, definitely no bandit stuff for me, can never bring myself to be "that guy" in a game lol Not bashing the bandits though, I love the idea of groups working together but also opposing each other, can't play cops and robbers with no robbers. All in all I just want to have fun playing the game with friendly people who don't take things too seriously but do wanna make a decent run at surviving as many DayZ as possible lol.

I would have to say there is a fair amount of excitement for all new things when it comes to the game. Folks here can multi task and be excited about more than one thing at a time right? Sure when it comes to beards people tend to go over the top in the way it's referenced but that's part of the whole current cultural fascination with the beard lol. And while the beard doesn't make the man, it does make him better haha (of course these are all ridiculous personal opinions due in fact to me being too lazy to shave) But ya gotta admit, Jesus and Santa just wouldn't be right without beards, and I think it's safe to say that it's not just because we've seen them that way forever, it just...fits, does it not?

I agree with you sir, I luckily found it before it caused my death (this time) lol. The first time it happened to me naturally I assumed it was because I didn't have the proper medical tools to deal with the problem so i just kept running around till I fell over and died haha, joining the forums has already saved me a bit of grief so I'm definitely glad I did it.

How does keeping yourself warm not help with avoiding hypothermia...? Isn't that like, the entire point? Also the mania you're seeing from people like that, are most likely twelve year olds that can't physically grow facial hair yet and they're inundated with how awesome beards are just from the culture around it the last couple years especially in the sporting world and all that nonsense. And when you think about it, some pretty awesome people rock the beard including your aforementioned jesus christ, and santa. You can't deny jesus AND santa as being awesome, can you?

I think it's still too early on for the DayZ early access for them to be putting out more than an update a week, for a small studio to be doing even that is pretty impressive. Especially when you consider that the updates occasionally break things, and then that needs to be addressed. So figure they updated all the time, things would start to break maybe immediately but maybe not, all of a sudden its a week or two later and you're not sure with patch broke what. I feel like maybe part of doing weekly is that you have it come out, see the aftermath and give yourself a little bit of time to tweak and fix things before they go and potentially break it again next week lol. To the point of the clothes, while I understand how it would seem if they were pulling important resources off, but the dev even stated in one of the recent patch notes not to worry about that. The clothing is only being done by artists when they're not needed for the main updates, which makes sense, the clothing system is already in place all they would be doing is making new models of the clothing ya know? peanuts compared to the main work they're doing lol. Lastly, I wouldn't call the developers out for not having a passion for their game when you don't even know what kind of hours they may be putting in, issues they have to deal with and things of that nature. Plus you have to understand how massive of an undertaking this game is for any studio let alone one that isn't exactly a gigantic powerhouse. There is so much more that goes into a game of this nature than just your typical FPS where all you have to worry about are tight controls, hit detection, and graphics. Now you throw the mmo nature, the fact it's built off the back off a mod, and alllllll the other elements that are involved in making this game what it is, it's going to be a work in progress and possibly a long one but you can't honestly say you haven't enjoyed the game and you only spent what? 20-30$ right? The game is only going to improve so give it some time to grow, I feel like there is a really great game here and we just need to support the devs and give good constructive criticism to help improve the game moving forward.

Hey thanks I really appreciate it I'm going to have to try that animation trick because yeah, it won't even let me try to make a splint, and I don't think I'm crazy here but correct me if I'm wrong, you can make splints from bandages and sticks as well as rags and sticks right? I believe I've made them from both materials before, but right now I have the leg in pain message but when I go to put the bandages over the sticks it only comes up as craft fireplace kit and not a splint. I'm definitely concerned because I've got a pretty full kit and don't want to lose it over some nonsense, although you'll have that at this stage of the game. Will be hopping on shortly to test out those ideas, will let you know how it goes, also thanks again for the reply, I'm fairly new to the game and super new to the community so here's hoping I'll be able to help people out too as I get a better understanding of the game lol. ***Just wanted to follow up, just to be certain it wasn't some strange instance on the server I tried all the normal options again for making the leg in pain message go away, nothing worked just the same as yesterday, as well as no option to even create a splint. Cue your miraculous advice about putting the bandage in my hand and starting the F11 animation, for some reason it took a few attempts for it to actually craft but then on the time it worked it was instantaneous, and then same for the application, and it would actually tell me unable to use on myself, then like you said, used F11 and it took a time or two but then boom, applied the splint and no more leg pain, or fear of stumbling to my death at any moment. Your advice even allowed me the chance to drive my first truck which was awesome, every time I'd been by a spawn point they were never there, unfortunately I promptly ran it outta gas but it was nice to test it out lol. Yeah I'm having an issue similar to this. In mine though I had just been hit once by a zombie and I one hit him with the axe, bandaged myself and everything seemed fine but then it was giving me the leg pain message but it wont even let me splint anything and alcohol on the rags did nothing, painkillers haven't helped either. Is it just because I don't have morphine that I can't fix this? Also there is no status effect listed (if that helps) Any help would be greatly appreciated because I'm pretty sure the last time this happened my guy just ran around with leg pain while I tried everything and then I'm pretty sure he just broke his leg and went unconscious simultaneously lol

As a personal fan of beards I think this would be awesome haha, especially if done in the one idea where your start clean and it grows over time, it should be then once it's long enough that people could customize their beard once they had a razor. Plus it'd be an awesome merit badge to be sporting a duck dynasty beard, then people know you're a survivor, and a leprechaun for avoiding a glitchy and or messy death for so long haha.
