    The reason behind KoS: ?

Eno, My apologies for brining up my time in combat. Your right it doesn't have a place in a game forum... I was trying to explain to people who haven't seen real deaths no destruction, who haven't been shot at or shot back, that it isn't pretty. I don't know how I would substantiate my 12 years in the Army to a game forum, post by DD214? but you are right it doesn't matter. Best of luck. See you on the high ground!

    The reason behind KoS: ?

Nex, I do and I said as much in a later post. And i'll come off my high horse of I have been to war and it isn't pretty stance. You are right this is just a game. But I do think it is more than just a game... The open world lets us be the person we would wants be or could be in this scenario. I guess an odd but apropo analogy could be a table top role playing game like dungeons and dragons .... Are you the type of party that takes on the perilous quest to save the kingdom and defeat evil... Or are you the party that decides your going to rape, pilage, and murder innocents? There is no honor or greatess in the latter. It leads to player boredom and despair. I do think violence, robbery, and killing is an element in this game and it is what makes it dramatic and scary to meet others. But KoS doesn't add much and has no regulating game elements. Even in the wildest of west days in Texas, Arziona, and New Mexico bad actors existed but we're hunted down by the sparse settlers when they could band together. Reward were put on their heads turning often other bad actors into temporary heroes by brining in the bad guy or taking him out. I wish we could do that here but we can't. The closes thing I hadve seen to some sort of community action is the Reddit Rescue Force... What a cool idea. Hey and I have only died twice to KoS... No crying, starting over is actually fun... It is when my heart start beating, because now the clock is ticking!

SAY GOODBYE TO BANDITS ONCE AND FOR ALL?

I agree with OP. The human psyche is a fragile thing and while the game addresses most other physical needs and effects, it places a vail between the psychology of the player and character. Zombies noises still scare the crap out of me and send chills down my spine. Other players make me cautions and worried, today my shadow my me jump! But my character did not experience any of this. I'll take it a step farther. There needs to be psycho-somatic reprocutions of doing things like murder, robbery, and torturing. Kind of like there is for cannabalism. These things go against everything that makes us human, but there is nothing in the game to limit purely evil behavior. The suggestions the OP makes would work in these cases too. Kill to many people, maybe you become paranoid - uncontrollable shaking maybe curl up in a ball for a while.

    The reason behind KoS: ?

May I be insta-killed in Cherno for all the rest of time if it isn't true... :). What it has to do with anything is that I have seen a country devolve into lawlessness and I have seen death and destruction... And once you see it in real life you'll realize it isn't "just for fun".Beleive me, I realize this is a game. We play games to escape,reality... But this one is a small window into your inner self, given a chance will you be a hero or a villain. Do you aspire to good or evil. I chose good, because I have seen real evil. Sorry to be a downer, but that is what serving in combat has to do with anything. Anyway, each to his own, right?

    The reason behind KoS: ?

So basically what I am reading from people is that without fear of being arrested, jailed, and possible executed by the gov't/law/peers, you would be a homicidal maniac. Because that is what you are doing... Sure it is the apocalypse and basic human needs need to be met, but you've decided that the best way to get a drink, some food, or a hoodie is to kill anyone and everyone you meet. Think about that. If there were some way to form a posey and maybe go after a violent or homicial maniac, that would be cool... But there really isn't. Weak Persistence and resets make in near impossible. Further small player counts on servers with such a huge AO, means there is really no one around. I have only been playing for a short time and I dont KOS. I am not good at RP, but I have come across some amazing players who gave me, and hopefully I gave back, a great experience. The one thing KOS does do for the game is make every meeting very cautious and I like that, but there simply isn't enough consequences to KOS. The human psyche is very delicate... Their are very very few truly evil people in the world who have been able to live with the evil deeds they have committed. Think about that. And before you flame me for being a pans... like another on this thread, I served in Afghanistan in 2003. I have seen bad stuff.
