Add NIGHT GOOGLES and FLIR (thermal) GOOGLES : in helicpters crash sites The difference between both of them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAvnMYqj2c0 So: FLIR = detecting humans and living animals but zombies are invisible (because they should be dead so cold) and night vision would make it easier to see zombies during nights. EARLY RUSSIAN ARMOR: in castles (great vs zombies but very noisy !) LATE RUSSIAN ARMOR: in castles too (more resisting to blows in hands to hands combat than the earlier one !) OLD MILITARY UNIFORM : in museum ANTIQUE PISTOL AND MUSKET : in museum and houses in the country (needs black powder that you can make yourself and bullets than can craft too) IMPROVISED AXE (crafted with wooden shaft + big stone+ rope/metal wire) IMPROVISED JAVELIN : Ashwood stick + rope/metal wire + improvised knife BOILED LEATHER: Pig pelt + cooking pot + water + fireplace (more resistive against blows) WARBOW: improvised bow + sickle + making it boiled in water + fireplace + cooking pot (very powerful bow that can shoot on long distance: 200 meters) IMPROVISED SHIELD: wooden shafts + Cow pelt (good against zombie blows, arrows and bolts, hand to hand weapons) MAQUAHUILT: Firewood log + Hacksaw + multiple improvised knifes (good for causing bleedings) STUNT WAR CLUB: Dear woods + stone + rope (good for breaking bones but few chances to cause bleedings) -
I do not agree with this idea. Not because it is stupid, it is more realistic yes and could be more intresting to find ammo. But this game is already very very hard with guns using a specific caliber that you can chamber in a specifc magasine... Finding some magasine full of ammo is very rewarding in my opinion.

I agree on thoses points except if the books are usefull: If they are tutorials manuals for crafting they will be usefull + they can be used for fire !! About vehicules, yes it is very boring to run, run, run endlessly. I ve thought about repairing the dirty cars in the streets for exemple. It could be very nice to do so rather than finding a car already clean. It should be like all objects: Ruined (can't be repaired), Damage you need 2 things to repair it (fuel and battery for exemple), Worn you need 1 thing to repair it (fuel for exemple) and Pristine (no needs).

I agree Mullraugh but the fact is most of the ancient soldiers who killed (at least thoses I ve met) often makes nightmares so I thought about adding that kind of nightmares into the game by thoses things who can add some horror ambiant sounds. That was the idea. But yes of course I m no miracle or the choosen one ! I juste try to make the game better than it is according to the critics I ve read and heard evrywhere. A sandbox is good but you must add something more to create a unique universe. It is a difficult task for Dayz standalone because there are a LOT of video games with zombies. Their idea is original and it is good to hope that some ideas could give others. Thank you AP-Norris. Yes your idea is great too to feel an evolution of your psychology. And also the reincarnation one seems very encouraging to me. Both ideas could easily combine :)

To answer your objections I will try to be as clear as possible and justify my propositions: Real life wouldn't make you vomiting when you are cutting to pieces a decomposed body ? Well if you say so, you must have serious troubles or you are making authopsies your duty. Blood projections comes when you are fighting for exemple in real life. If you get injured and (probably) if you get a projection because of blood in your face it is sticky and if you have some on your eyes you will see things blured (I know what it is because I was injured on the head and I saw that). I didn't wearn glasses. But yes, with glasses, you should see that projection clearly rather than simple sticky blur. But for more "ambiant like zombie style" I thought it would have been cool ! I would not say so much as some video games that already exist but the amount of blood should be moderate as that game tries to be "realistic". You disegread with the idea of psychology and crazyness without argue so I won't argue too. About the job background you are probably right for the players who will just try to kill each other to get stuffed, but honnestly it is already the case without anything....... What would it change ? Plus, that COULD make some players attracted by RP to play more RP than just: Oh ok I am the random man/girl let's kill someone... No maybe if you are a paramedic you couldn't say: hey I m not a criminal I helped people maybe I will help them now ? I m probably too optimist about people playing that game just trying to "PVP PVP PVP KOS yeah I m the strongest ! Oh damn I m dead !" No ? And it would make used outfits that developpers made and most people doesn't care because THEY WANT THE BEST CLOTHES = MILITARY ! So who cares about canvas or so. Most people doesn't wear them. Same for the police uniform or paramedic one it's too visible people prefer to wear others stuffs. Same things for the tracksuit. There are tools created by developpers players should use them. And it would make it more "possible" world than a random guy in short exactly the same as the other he found on the road that just started. It is really boring to see that. But that's my opinion.

Hello There I m gonna be quick. Some ideas are already on other list but I will make it anyway. ADD PHYCHOLOGY 1. Killing zombies will increase the "stuffed" effect by one with hand to hand combat. The more you kill zombies the more disgust you will be and then vomiting (added) EXCEPT IF YOU WEAR MASKS. 2. Blood and gore blood, projections of it on the screen would be a great thing (bluring the screen increases stress). 3. Add a comptability of humans killing and mental sickness: - The avatar that never killed will shake putting a gun facing another human blue print. This requires to distinguish humans to zombies/animal blue prints. - After one kill you don't shake anymore. - After 3 kills the avatar is becoming paranoid with an hallucination of one or 2 seconds of someone running then desepearing every 15 or 30 minutes (irregularity makes it more intense and surprising). - After 5 kills the player will hear some whispers next to him during some minutes then it will be quiet (Exemple of whispers here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKjYnJ6s9GQ) or screams (exemple here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPe-FsZa9ts) ADD SOCIAL EXPERIMENT AND EVOLUTION: I ALSO AGREE WITH PROPOSITIONS OF SPECIFIC SKILLS FOR EACH CHARACTERS 1. Counting the numbers of days survived (connected), the number of zombies killed and number of players killed on the menu screen with this avatar. 2. Exchange objects directly with other players to have to drop it, search it. 3. Get a job background before your start a new life completly random (like blood) with different level of rarity that gives you clothes and tool/weapon. All the items should be damaged. - Policeman: Police Jacket (4 slots), Police Pants (4 slots), Leather shoes, Telescopic baton : Rare; Skill: More precise than others when shooting. - Firefighter: Firefighter jacket (6 slots), firefighter pants (4 slots), Hicking boots, Fire extinguisher: Very rare. Skill: More stamina. - Worker: Tracksuit jacket (2 slots), Jeans (4 slots), Working boots, Hammer: Common. Skills: Crafting faster than others. - Peasant: Shirt (2 slots) if male / Wool dress (2 slots) if female, Canvas pants (4 slots), Wellies, Farming Hoe: Common. Skill: Better chance to find fruits on trees. - Fisher: Raincoat (4 slots), Canvas short pants (4 slots), Wellies, Canoe paddle: Rare. With the system of psychology this profession should start with one killed human. He would be the unique avatar that does shake for his first kill. Skill: Less noise against zombies. - Townman: Sweeter (2 slots), Jeans (4 slots), Leather shoes, Broom: Common. Skill: Better for repairing items. ADD MORE DIFFERENT TEXTURES ON ARCHITECTURES SPECIFICITIES: MORE HORROR THINGS ! - Wholes on roofs of some houses/ buildings where we can see the sky and rains comes - Humans bones and flesh, blood on walls and massives corps with flies around that makes the avatar votoming if staying next to it without carrying a mask. - Building half destroyed, more or less. - Lake full of blood and corps around (can't drink it of course) -Acces to caves and mines hotter than outside and protecting from the rain SUGGESTIONS FOR ZOMBIES (added) - When players walk in a cimetary zombies could smell human flesh and get out of their tombs for eating the human: surprise and fear garanteed (big challenge) - Zombified wolves very scary tracking humans in the forest (Exemple of sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iag8d1ENKgk&index=1&list=PLC79924996BE15F75) => relative to the animal proposition by someone that I forget his/her name (sorry) -Zombified bears very scary inside caves and mines (sound when there are a bear: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vj-m8JAHl38) - Children zombies (small and fast) who makes scary and loud screams when a player is detected (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPe-FsZa9ts) - Zombies should be attracted by the noise of a car and should to eat the humans inside by bitting it (it is not the case in the actual version 0.54) - They should walk slowly along the streets rather than being immobile - They should hit doors when they detected a human who's closing him inside a house - Infected dogs ADD ENVIRONNEMENT AMBIANT - Wind that makes the trees moving (if possible I don't know) and who makes creepy wind sound effect (exemple: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9NlVu2UEu0) - Mists randomly - Crows - During nights owls (sound of a scary one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhKDGMH6D-I) - Add usable boats Hope that you liked my ideas. Hello again ! Another exemple : As I said before , I was on the server called Arvernii wich specificly tells players that is a PVE server 24h restart I met for once a guy and tried to speak with him. He said Hello came to me and shot me in the face and I choosed to not carry my weapon because that was the kind of server I was looking for coop... The result is the same. Except the "hello" and "I m fine" that was all the conversation I got... I wonder if I can play the way I want when I want. PVP players go to PVP servers, PVE players go to PVE servers in my logic... Tell me if I am wrong. And it's not a suggestion but just another exemple of what I just said...

Hello sukka Yes my suggestions can come out of a movie but I don't think that island exist in real and even if it does I don't think zombies come out of reality ! Yes I don't see any problem to combine the suggestions at all, in fact it will be better. And yes I agree on the fact that it is important to get fear in a "horror" game.

Thank you very much for your answers and opinions Damnyourdeadman ! I like to see some people like you answering with constructive opinions and sharing thoughts. I agree on some points with you, and you definitly understood that my ideas are for the improvements of the game and not for the pleasure to write. Elle, your comment is intersting but as we all understood, I think, that game is for now more a battle royal than a survival and a hybrid MMO game with survival horror on public servers at least. I know that there is no tutorial Elle but my suggestion was to introduce one because it is not easy at all to understand the mechanics of the game (exept if you check on the internet the solutions as we, I guess, all did right ?). Survival is an important part of the game of course but there are different kinds of survival visions for a game design. You can make a survival game in complete nature for exemple without firearms for exemple, something in a post-apocalyptic world, something with a virus that you catched and you must fight by finding an antidote for exemple, survival in an arena is survival too... The question is how does the Devs want it to evolve. What was their idea ? Does the direction of the game go to their basic ideas or not ? I checked some of the suggestions already and found very interesting most of them. My point was about the core of the game and gap between the idea that you could have looking at (MMO game) and the reality of it: FPS with added difficulties (food, equipment etc) or Difficulties with rare FPS ? Because, for now, I just see it as a FPS with added difficulties and some crafting. If so let it be clear for evryone ;)

I don't see any topics about the purpose of the game behing a survival game or a battle royal game. And I found some informations but not evrything about my suggestions.

Hello evryone, Playing on Dayz after some weeks, I would like to share some ideas with you. 1. Battle royal is not zombie survival First I saw that the game is more like a battle royal than something about surviving in a zombie environnement. Why ? Because most of the players just shoot on sight (in fact all the players I found on my road) killing me for no reason. I don't know if the intention of the developpers is to create a battle royal in a zombie world or if the zombie world is the core of the idea of Dayz. If the Devs want their game to be a survival zombie game then you should make zombies a real threat. I will suggest you some ideas bellow. 2. Creating zombies variety and zombie hords If you want players to coop more easily and not being so much preoccupied by zombies then I think that you should make more zomibies and a horde of zombies (like 20 or more zombies) marching on the map and attacking evryone on their path. This will create a real source of worry for players. Secondly, I would recommand you to create different types of zombies than interact differently (some who jump, some who run, some who walks, some who use tools for exemple). This will create a real difficulty with the zombies. Thirdly, you could add different resistance zombies, some who do not care about bullets for exemple, others that you die easily and some who are very strong and healthy (hard to kill). 3. Creating some spawing zones (safe zones) It's really hard to play and join friends because the map is very very huge so it takes like 2 hours at least to find a friend (if we are using the map posted on internet...). So I thought about creating like 3 or 4 spawning camp where players can not be killed (some players get killed with no equipment at all when they spawn) and it will become easier to find out your friends online. Players could also choose their spawning camps. 4. Adding military raids (NPCs) To increase the possibilities for players to coop more than killing them for no reason, I also recommand to make some raids with military NPCs with a precise mission: exterminate survivors without distinction because of the virus of zombification. So you could see some airplanes sometimes bombing some areas for exemple, helicopers killing some zombies and survivors around. If so, they must get a very specifc clothes to recognize them. 5. Showing the name of the player that killed your character The problem, for now, is there are servers where you are not allowed to kill people except in some zones or at least with some RP. The fact is, even on thoses publics servers, people just kill the ones they see. The problem is: how to signal to admins that some players didn't respected the rules if I don't know the name of the player who shot me ? This situation leads to that fact: on evry server, even the ones who pretends to get rules, people just shoot evryone without any RP. 6. Realism has its limits I saw that, when you get shot by firearms, 1 or 2 bullets gets you killed or unconscious and 1 bullet on the leg breaks it. The reality is, in most cases, people can endure several bullets on their body but the bleeding cause you a death with time more than the bullet kills you. The more shots you gets, the more you bleed and that's how people die. But a bullet shot can also cause serious troubles for walking, using a weapon etc. This is not for headshots or shots in the heart of course. Most people getting shot do not die if they are saved in a hospital even if they are inconscious. To show that reality I will just talk about the "pop star" 50 cent who gets 9 shots on his body and is still alive. Also, in real life, you are not so often thirsty (exept if you run) and so often hunry ! 7. Zombies could infect you the virus of zombification I suggest also to make something like a zombie virus wich slowly makes the character becoming a zombie if they are hit by a zombie. If you want to accelerate the process of coop between players against environnement you could, for exemple, create a "humanity stats" where when you save someone, heal someone, feed someone you gain some points in it wich slow downs the process to become a zombie. You also could make some antidote vary rare objects on the map that stops the zombification. The process of becoming a zombie is that you shake more and more often (like for the canibalism for exemple) seeing on black and white, then you are not able to use any weapons then you are dead. This will really makes players get AFRAID of the zombies ! 8. There is no explainations, introductions, prologue or tutorial This is a beta, I know, but you have no clue how to play that game, why you are in the middle of nowhere at the begining. This is not something very exciting at all because this lake doesn't create any ambiant or a specific purpose of Dayz. This just looks like a big arena where people connect just to kill and loot. There is not a specific history in it. This lake is very big and even if I think the game is cool and funny if not frustating a specific aspect of it will create a deep progress for the game.
